Curiosity burns in me

Something otherworldly sits there and I just stare

Watching it, each moment torn into my mind

Burning the image forever behind my eyes

I’m not the satisfaction that brought the cat back

Just a mouse, looking through the jaws of death

To fall down at your feet

Kneeling before you

In reverence to a lord

One of flesh and bone

With blood that bleeds red

And skin that brushes green

To serve you

And be nothing but your tool

To be used as you see fit

I say I’m something more

Something more than a person trying to exist without you

Because every part of myself that I am proud of

Is but a reflection of you

I’ve been getting rid of things

Bit by bit

Stripping away the things around

To find more of me

Hungry for something

Feet digging trenches into the floor

Mind flickering between thoughts

Searching

Searching

Looking for what?

Clawing away at something

Trying to find it

It?

Starving

Looking

Looking

I need to find it

Two years and I’m still falling for you

Your smile, my breath

Your laugh, my heart

I’m pretty sure you know I like you

And I’m pretty sure you like me

Yet still, neither of us take the step

The way you look at me makes me unafraid to look back

Your deep brown eyes meeting mine

Hand in hand, we dance around each other

Arms clasped tight, chests pulled close

Each of us holds each other closer then we do most

There were times when I thought I loved once

But it ended in a ruined friendship and far too many tears

It’s probably what keeps me from reaching out

To ask that simple question

To let us take that next step

I tell myself that I’ll say something when we see each other again

Yet each time I’m so distracted by you I forget

My wish is for this to last forever, for nothing to ever change

But how much will it actually change if I ask?

Can I find the courage to say something?

To crack open my chest and leave my heart in your hands

To take your hand gently in mine and never let go

To promise each other a future together

I’ve so hopelessly fallen for you

We are built of moments that have changed us

Moments that make us remember that we’ll never be the same as we were before them

One day, one of those moments will happen again

When will this version of me be something I’ll never be again?

The rain started on a Friday and won’t end ‘till June

Writing about the rain

A tale as old as time

Let them burn it all down, he said

Stay and sit along side the suffering

The flames licking at your feet and burning your flesh

Hold each other as it turns to ash

Crawl from the rubble and piece yourself back together

It’s time to fight

And take this world back

Sit still on a quiet night

And you can hear the train whistle blow

From forty blocks away

On nights when ice covers the land

You can hear the rumble

Of the train on the tracks

I think about the world

Falling apart around me

Making me want to cry

I wrap my arms around you

Put a smile on my face

And dance

Happiness found

In duck feet across the snow

The hollowed weep

And the righteous tore

Across the sky

We hear their encore

The rich take power

As the false god rises

And the poor cower

Over broken backs and taken hours

The children scream

As they are taken from their crib

The elders cry

Hoping we make it out alive

Feeling like I’m lost

Hiding in between pieces I build around me

A wall to hide myself in

Turned into a maze of objects

And I thought I was passed this

Passed putting things around me to show what they want to see

I thought I stopped turning everything around me

Into a reflection of what other people expect

A man starving

For something whole

Something compressed

For something new

Something repressed

And isn’t that what we are

Trying to compromise

Make peace

From something depraved
