AU Reddie Meeting at a Football Game

Richie was super nervous for the game this Friday. It was the most important game of the season and it was all resting on Richie’s shoulders. Richie didn’t even like football; the only reason he did it was because his dad  thought he was acting girly and wanted him to man up. All Richie ever wanted was to make his dad proud so he did it. Before the game all Richie could think about was his plays and what he could do to ensure they would win and not screw everything up.  It isn’t like Richie ever paid attention in class but today it was especially hard to focus on anything else.

*time skip to game*

It was five minutes before the game and Richie was freaking out. Finally the time came and they ran out to the field. Richie was so focused time flied, it felt as if as soon as the game started it immediately cut to half time. The boys were walking back to the locker room to wait for the third quarter to start. Richie couldn’t stand any of his teammates so he went to the stadium bathrooms to wait until he had to go back for the third quarter. On his way to the bathroom he saw a boy that caught his eye. This boy didn’t go to his school but he knew of him. All the asshole jocks always made fun of him and called him a fag and other horrible names and Richie couldn’t stand it. The only reason those boys made those jokes was because they were all desperate for acceptance. The boy was walking to the concession stands all alone. Richie took note of his dark wavy hair and Richie smiled at the boys bright red short shorts in admiration of his undeniable confidence. Richie then turned away irritated knowing he could never be as good as someone like that boy. His name is Eddie Kaspbrak and ever since he came out last year no one could stop talking about it because apparently it was “weird.” Richie didn’t think he was weird at all. Even though he had never spoken to him before he knew Eddie was just tired of the rumors. His heart was in the right place when he came out but in their towns nobody that was gay was going to ever live it down especially if they confirmed it. Richie for years had wanted to come out but couldn’t bring himself to for his father’s sake. If anyone found out that a Tozier boy was a homo Richie’s entire family would disown him and he knew it. Richie still had some time to kill so he decided to follow Eddie to the concession stand and stood behind him in line. Once he got up that close he realized how cute the boy truly was and blushed hoping no one would notice. Richie desperately wanted to introduce himself but couldn’t find the words to do it. He stood there for minutes trying to think of something to say. Richie finally snapped out of his trance and realized he needed to get back to his team because halftime was over. The last two quarters zipped by and Richie’s team won. After the game Richie was showered with praise but all he could think about was Eddie. He tried to find the boy in the crowd and finally saw him walking out of the gates. Richie ran over to the boy and walked behind him for a while thinking about what to say but was blanking. Finally Eddie turned around and glared at Richie, “Look I get it I’m gay and that might be hard for you to accept but it won’t change, so if you are planning on beating the shit out of me then get it over with already and spare me the dread.” Eddie snapped. Richie was shocked and didn’t know what to do. He stood there looking dumb as hell for a few seconds until Eddie just turned around scoffing “whatever” and walked away. Richie finally realized what just happened and ran up beside Eddie, turned him to face him, grabbed his face, and leaned in. Eddie immediately tried to pull back and murmured “what the fuck” but then leaned back in. They kissed for a good minute before Eddie finally pulled away and said “Who the hell are you?” Richie replied with “I can’t believe that just happened.” and looked away but looked back and said “Oh god I’m so sorry uh, I’m uh, Richie, uh, Richie Tozier.. I, uh, I meant to um, say something but uh I c-couldn’t think of anything and I just uhm..” he trailed off into unintelligible mumbles until Eddie cut him off,

“But why did you do that?”

“I’m not to sure, you are just so cute and I couldn’t find the right thing to say and I’m uh-”

“Well either way it was great.”

“Really?!”

“Amazing actually.”

“Well um if you wanna hangout sometime we could go do something and actually talk” Richie says with a slight laugh in his voice.

“Yeah definitely, I would really love that.” Eddie replied with enthusiasm.

“Great!” Richie replied all giddy..

And the rest was history.
