Hope

Day 11 of fangfest, and the theme is hope! A vague babble featuring Kade and Adria meeting their mentor/now father figure, Leon, a little bit after their embrace.

Kade and Adria are losing hope. It's been a week like this, not knowing what's going on. The gnawing, unfamiliar hunger. Everything no longer makes sense. No community to fall back on, shitty third shift jobs that are a blessing now. The twins are unsure of what to do.

All they know to do is feed.

Somebody catches them, after a long week of not knowing. He looks at them, eyes full of understanding. He's like them, they understand. He asks, gently, how many moons. They stare back, unknowing. His hands stretch out, and they reach out to take them.

"I got you, I got you…"

Kade and Adria are finding hope.

11. Hope: Dreams, optimism, utopia. You refuse to allow yourself or others give in to despair and horror.

Luc Gossens, Danya Vetranova, and Elizabeth De Lacy are the triumvirate of London. They are the bulwark against the Gehennah and the one actively trying to make the world a better place, for their friends and family, but also for everyone.

Demetra was born from an affair, protected by Dolche the Wolf Wraith she was allowed to live. Her soul twin at her side, she kept her chin up. Eventually the family had her embraced by Vittorio Giovanni, planning to ensure her loyalty (and that of Dolche) via a blood bond.

Demi turned out to be unbondable. At Dolche's urging she ran, all the way to Tofino, Canada. After eating a gangrel (and managing to pick up that clan's flaw) she claimed a territory.

Eventually her sire found her, and she mauled him severely. With some trickery she was taken in by another family member.

Through all of this she remained hopeful, and defiant until she was treated with respect. Now gaining prestige within her clan, the hope and free spirit that molded her is being rightly rewarded.

FORTITUDE : GRETCHEN VOORHEES-TURNER

Gretchen comes from Georgia, deep in the sticks, a township that doesn't have its own zip code. She's a pretty girl. Grows up quick. The birds in the sky are the only things she knows that are free.

She gets out like this: desperate shot at a scholarship. She tells them that she's dying here. That she's so tired of being seen as a girl who can be touched and taken; pretty blossom in the hills, courted by men who her own mother shames her for tempting. What is temptation? Gretchen was only a girl.

But Gretchen graduates on that pity scholarship, gets into school for a Master's in Ornithology; she’s in the Ozarks hunting a rare find when she meets the dead girl who becomes her sire and then her wife.

May doesn't know how to do that whole sire thing too well, but effort counts.

Skip forward:

Harpy and Hound, the Turner wives. Gretchen is a keen eyed thing, prowling her territory and chasing off the dead who think they get a win because they're older. Gretchen's mate is going to be Primogen soon, the whispers say. Gretchen is proud of her. Proud of herself.

There's a sonorous howl coming up from the rooftops; a quartet of answer-calls signal the Gangrel Hounds.

Fortitude

Day ten of fangfest, and the theme is fortitude. This one features my first ever VtM character, Gisela!

Gisela pulls on her jacket to go out for the night. She has many things to look into in the city, people to see. Remembering something, she goes into the bedroom she shares with Lana to grab a small box. Pausing, she stares at herself in the mirror of her wife's vanity.

She sits down on the seat, lifting one of the flaps attached to the collar up. Reflection staring back, the patch staring back. Hidden most of the time, but still there after all these years. Original, sometimes fixed up to keep it going. Once forced upon her, still worn to remind herself of how this all started.

How she refused to let them win against her.

letting the little flap back down, she stands back up. Humming, she taps the box against herself as she goes to leave. Lana's gone already, so she just has to lock the door behind her. Smiling, she double checks that she has her keys before leaving.

Gisela locks the door behind her, and her night truly begins.

VTM Fangfest 2025 - Day Ten - Fortitude

Fortitude is the virtue of inner strength and endurance. Remaining resolute in the pursuit for justice and goodness, even in the face of suffering. Stakebait Coterie are a bunch of underdogs in a world full of monsters who would use them and abuse them. Different people from different walks of life who have come together under one banner and found true camaraderie and friendship with each other. They're not taking any shit without biting back, and they're going to be doing it together.

OUR BABIES. Day ten of Fangfest! They're making big moves in Atlanta, and it may irrevocably shake things up for good... better or worse. Khloe, Ralph, Kyle and Christian are the four best friends that anyone could have! (75% of Stakebait Coterie belong to @thesixthplaneteer!!)

10. Fortitude: Courage, stoicism, mettle, integrity, stubbornness. You can withstand pressure to stray from your chosen course or long-held ideals.

Becker is an elder Brujah who started from the worst part of being a vampire, abandoning his infant, and exterminates people without care in the world, driven only by revenge and rage. But then something made him climb out of that pit, with just his strength, and become a leader in the community, a cherif that takes care of vampires in need and punishes (without killing) the ones that step out of line. Before Elizabeth, he was the only one who could control Devon... by beating him up so hard that he severely reduced his desire to serialkill around. He is the one who will lift the sky for the ones he cares about.

Charity is something Mac relied on when young. Upon finding his family's benefactor was a kindly Mummy something sparked in Mac.

The newly minted Innocent creed Hunter now runs a Diner and adjoining Bodega that caters to supernatural beings. He makes sure that there's a safe neutral ground and prevents harm by bringing aid.

I mean, if you're part of New York City, you're family. Doesn't matter if you've got Fang, Fur, Feather or Familiar. All aided.

9. Charity: Generosity, sharing, giving instead of receiving, compassion, mercy, altruism. You risk yourself to help another in spite of any losses that may be suffered.

Danya Vetranova started as a ravnos fortune teller and became a true faith wilder with a humanity that will rival a saint. Her selfless spirit made her give up an eye to get back the soul of a dear friend. She is always misunderstood by her fellow Kindred, often seen as naive or weak. But being what she is gave her the greatest power a vampire like her can ask. Completely dominate her beast.
