I wish Charlie Chaplin had done more drag because he was incredibly cute (from The Masquerader (1914), A Woman (1915), and A Busy Day (1914))
#charlie chaplin#rambles#& yeah tonal shift between the last film and the others but I wanted to include all three of his drag films

The stilt shepherds of Landes were a unique group of shepherds in the Landes region of southwestern France, known for walking on stilts while tending their flocks. This distinctive practice flourished primarily in the 18th and 19th centuries and is deeply tied to the landscape and cultural history of the area.

Some of my favorite fragments from Cuneiform Texts in the Metropolitan Museum of Art, Vol. 2: Literary and Scholastic Texts of the First Millennium B.C. The first four of these are balag compositions- lamentation performances meant to appease the gods (named after the instrument that accompanied them). Usually the theme was the destruction of a temple, and they were performed in the actual case of that happening, but also when a temple was being renovated or when omens predicted upcoming ill fortune. The other fragments are related to divination or exorcism.
#rambles#thank you online academic PDFs#hoping to read more like this- if anyone knows a good collection of Babylonian/Sumerian myths in translation let me know!

Something for the collection: really great photos of criminals from the 1920s. Love the attitude that emanates from each photograph. Makes for some great references too
