I really wish that Hotohori and Miaka had ended up as a couple. He was a way more interesting character and cared about Miaka a lot more than Tamahome. He was kind to her from the start, while Tama treated her like a brat.

I still wish Miaka and Hotohori had been canon. They had so much better chemistry and he thought the world of her. Tamahome belittled her and their romance was just annoying. She could have been happy with him, but she chose the douchebag. I'm still mad about that

“Out of all of the recent mangas that Yuu Watase has created, I want to see an anime adaptation of Fushigi Yuugi: Genbu Kaiden with the same Japanese cast from the video game, Drama CDs, and the same studio, Studio Pierrot, that the first series was animated under. This would be a dream come true, because the characters looked really epic when they were brought to life in the Fushigi Yuugi video game.”
