I am relatively young but in final stage renal failure. I have a higher chance of survival IF I can recieve proper medical care AND LIVING ASSISTANCE in a different state. Get me OUT of Mississippi.

The long post w the good explanation is being shared but not inspiring much help. So, I simplified it.

My illness is straight up fatal. Not gonna beat around thatBush, anymore. I seem desperate for help because I AM desperate for help.

My nephrologist has seen enough improvement in my kidney function, lately, to believe someone my age (early 30s) might have a longer life WITH PROPER AND FREQUENT MEDICAL ATTENTION. Sadly, that just isn’t an option where I live.

Please, if you can help me with moving expenses (even just a couple of bucks) I would be grateful. I’m sinking fast in Mississippi and now my doctors are giving me too much hope to ignore. I wanna get out of this situation and I’m working my fatigued, brain-foggy ass off to make it out of here.

If I can undo the damage my heart failure caused to the rest of my body, I want to. I don’t want to spend another month KNOWING what I should be eating, what medicines I should be taking, what tests and treatments I should be getting… and receiving almost none of it because Mississippi lawmakers think people like me have somehow earned slow, painful deaths.

Hey guys, some of you may know me but I know a lot of you don’t.

Without going into too many details, my husband, who’s working on getting his green card but is undocumented, has run into serious legal troubles right now. I’m afraid he’s been put on the shortlist of people ICE will be patrolling for. This makes getting this legal situation sorted immediately of incredible importance to myself, him, and our 1 year old son.

I am not able to enter the workforce right now which leaves my husband the sole provider for our family– I was fired from a low wage serving job a few months ago due to the fact that I was taking medically necessary breaks to pump breast milk to feed our baby. After a lot of harassment from management, I was ultimately let go because managers had trouble covering my breaks. I’m currently recovering from post partum depression and PTSD.  This puts us in an incredibly tight spot financially. We are already struggling to meet monthly bills, but with legal bills totaling $5,000 and with rent and utilities reaching $1,800 a month we are at the end of our rope.

I’m asking for anything to help at this point. Any contribution you make no matter how small will be incredibly appreciated. Anything that you can give will be incredibly helpful to my family during this rough spot.

An entire Manhattan village owned by black people was destroyed to build Central Park

Three churches, a school, and dozens of homes were demolished

^^^^Prominent abolitionist Albro Lyons and Mary Joseph Lyons were residents of Seneca Village. 

The community, called Seneca Village, began in 1825 and eventually spanned from 82nd Street to 89th Street along what is now the western edge of Central Park. By the time it was finally razed in 1857, it had become a refuge for African Americans. Though most were nominally free (the last slave wasn’t emancipated until 1827) life was far from pleasant. The population of African Americans living in New York City tripled between abolition and complete emancipation and the migrants were derided in the press. Mordecai Noah, founder of The New York Enquirer, was especially well-known for his attacks on African Americans, fuming at one point that “the free negroes of this city are a nuisance incomparably greater than a million slaves.”

More than three-fourths of the children who lived in Seneca Village attended Colored School №3 in the church basement. Half of the African Americans who lived there owned their own property, a rate five times higher than the city average. And while the village remained mostly black, immigrant whites had started to live in the area as well. They shared resources ranging from a church (All Angels Episcopal), to a midwife (an Irish immigrant who served the entire town).

But in 1857, it was all torn down.

Even as the church was being built on 86th street, then painstakingly painted white, the original settlers fought for their lands in court. Andrew Williams was paid nearly what his land was worth, after filing an affidavit with the state Supreme Court. Epiphany Davis was not as fortunate, losing hundred of dollars.

By 1871, Seneca Village had largely been forgotten. That year, The New York Herald reported that laborers creating a new entrance to the park at 85th Street and 8th Avenue had discovered a coffin, “enclosing the body of a Negro, decomposed beyond recognition.” The discovery was a mystery, the paper reported, because “these lands were dug up five years ago, when the trees were planted there, and no such coffins were there at the time.” That’s unlikely, as the site was the graveyard of the AME Zion church.

Researchers from Columbia, CUNY, and the New York Historical Society have been working on excavating the site of Seneca Village since the early 2000s. The work has been slow, with excavation starting in 2011.

The only official artifact that remains intact on the site is a commemorative plaque, dedicated in 2001 to the lost village.

just kidding i need to be back on here can you guys please please please reblog this, i’m a mentally ill, physically disabled trans guy. basically what is going on is i am currently homeless, my abusive father was hitting and screaming at my mom and i stepped in and essentially the cops got called on us. my grandma has officially kicked me out (and my dad) with absolutely nowhere to go, there is no one in my family that can help bc theyre all dead lol but im serious i have no immediate family left besides my grandma and mom- and as i said as of today my grandma is kicking me out. and my physical health has plummeted worse than ever.  i’ve been hospitalized over 5 times within the past month and a half and i have two doctor appointments i cant miss tomorrow but i cant even eat or uber and i have no place to sleep- i get paid on the 30-31st of each month (from state disability checks) so that means 10 days with no money and no shelter. i need your help if you can please boost this around or donate, anything really helps
