saw an artist vendor at work earlier today and he had a bunch of what i'm all too sure are generative AI images of cartoon dogs on display right next to traditional drawings and paintings.
there was a framed illustration of a dog in motorcycle garb and shades (with a phrase along the lines of "Life is short. Play more!," the other dog pictures had that too) that made me stop and analyze for about ten seconds, because it just looked artificial from the jump.
i eventually noticed that one of the dog's front paws was actually *behind* the sleeve of the motorcycle jacket the dog was wearing. the paw and the sleeve/leg didn't actually connect.

You won't reach a point where you don't need references anymore 😭
Even artists who freedraw regularly still do studies, refer to their past work, keep character sheets at hand, etc
Please don't impose that expectation on yourself just because of a live demo, tiktok, or timelapses especially
