Is it just me, or did Giselle’s wardrobe in Disenchanted feel 1950s, from dresses to hair?

I began watching Disenchanted last night, and I love how the filmmakers have styled Giselle to have long(er) curly hair again 🥰 I remember feeling so disappointed watching Enchanted and realising that Giselle’s makeover scene involved her having her hair straightened and most of it cut off. I know the point of the makeover was to show how Giselle was becoming more like an inhabitant of the real world instead of Andalasia, but I hate the “makeunder” trope where the person (usually female) is stripped of everything unusual about her and is made to be as bland as possible. Curls are beautiful too!! It’s a sign of how Giselle never lost her Andalasian roots.

Also, I always hated Giselle’s purple dress in that scene and thought it clashed horribly with her hair, but I digress.

And what if….Giselle actually ended up with Professor Callaghan (yes, she ended up with a guy named Robert in the original, and in this AU as well) Maybe Giselle gets a wishing wand at this early point (which we see in Disenchanted), which she uses to bring back Abigail (thus erasing the whole Yokai fiasco)

What about an Enchanted!AU where instead of New York they get transported to San Francisco?

As in Giselle ends up in San Fransokyo? Oh god, that would be A THOUSAND TIMES WORSE.

Like, yes, it’s probably nicer than New York, because I get the impression that the people of San Fransokyo aren’t quite so jaded, but she would be absolutely baffled by all of the technology. Remember, these people thought the TV was a magic mirror, everything she sees is going to be magic to her. Everything.

Surrounded by all of this magic, but no one actually knows what she’s talking about. Maybe though, she gets lucky, and she gets picked up by Fred. After all, who else would hear someone calling everyday science and technology “magic” and agree with her? He takes her home, gives her a place to stay the night, and all that.

Later, he brings her to meet the rest of the SFIT crew, because if she thinks the microwave is awesome, wait until she sees Wasabi’s lasers.

Prolonged loneliness is being forced upon him.

He fears that one wrong move will be his last.

He doesn’t think he deserves forgiveness.

He doesn’t know how long he’s gonna survive in prison
