KENNY PAYNE AND TERRY SILVER IN COBRA KAI S6EP9 - Blood In Blood Out
Maybe they don't see the champion in you. I always have. You know, with the loopholes in the roster system, I'd make a spot for you on my team in a heartbeat.
#kenny payne#terry silver#cobra kai#the worst thing about this scene is the fact that despite being a fucking psycho silver is literally the only sensei to have given any fucks#ck writers screwed over miyagi-do so bad that they made daniel laugh when johnny mocked kenny#like those were supposedly the senseis of the “better” dojo being cruel to a kid#i maintain kenny only stuck around for robby because he literally does not owe johnny or daniel his loyalty

robby keene + adapting on the fly
#robby keene#cobra kai#tw flashing#ma he's flying#robby's the only one who has any kind of situational awareness (and knows how to use it) he should've won any street fight he was in#unfortunately the narrative didn't love him enough </3

like.....keenry's love confession scene shows me exactly the problem i have with them. tory lets out her frustrations, robby tells her he loves her, she kisses him and doesn't say it back, and he says that godawful "no fucking mercy line." every single problem i have w keenry right there! tory gets more out of the relationship than robby does, robby's role is reduced to tory's boyfriend, and he will act out of character for the scene to work. and that's it!

something that I feel like is missing from fandom nowadays is the idea that you dont have to have a unified, chronologically/tonally consistent interpretation of your favorite work. your fics dont have to fit within the same version of canon, even if theyre all canon-compliant on their own. your headcanons can contradict each other. be a multishipper. write metas that take two totally different interpretations of the same plot point. write a character as a villain and then write them as the hero next time. write a character as a lesbian and then write them as straight next time! engage in hypotheticals and drop them when you get bored! make up the rules as you go!! have fun with it!!!

#who said axel didn't had a homoerotic karate rivalry.
#robby keene#axel kovacevic#the way axel kept growling and getting frustrated whenever robby got a hit on him was hilarious#like he was sooooo bothered by robby#like why is this small dude kicking my ass rn???#should've kissed him instead of breaking his leg!!!!

oh we were robbed 😔
#cobra kai#if ck had been a good show they would've had miguel and robby talk before miguel went back to ck#they would've had miguel be hesitant to go back to the dojo that taught him 'no mercy' as its core principle#they would've made him realize that axel purposely injuring robby to cheat him out of a victory is so eerily similar to the s1 all valley#they would've made him express guilt and hold himself accountable. tell robby that he deserved to win#and they would've had robby tell miguel that he's not the same person he used to be. that robby isn't either#that they're both better and better together#and they would've had robby tie that headband around miguel's head to show he has robby's full support#(and then they would've kissed)#ANYWAY#none of that happened because ck is not a good show

hi! so sorry i dont know if you take requests but i like the dynamic robby and hawk could've had but the writers never explored. would you ever consider making a gif set?
sorry for the late reply, but i'm definitely down to do this! but i'm pretty interested to know what kind of dynamic do you think they could've had but was never explored? personally, i liked the “this guy annoys me but i also kinda respect him” dynamic they lowkey had in s1-s5 (esp s4's all valley) but i feel like s6 p2 completely ruined it by making hawk so anti-robby for no good reason 💀 i'm interested to know your take(s) on them!

I actually am bitter about the fact that in the end it’s still Daniel being the only one who has to change or make any kind of sacrifice. I mean yeah go Lawrusso etc but what the fuck man. Evil. Evil shit. What’s the lesson there?? Daniel has to learn to be okay with karate being fascist sometimes??? Like are you kidding me???
Johnny couldn’t even get the guy who created Miyagi-Do’s name right. He didn’t learn shit. It was only ever Daniel, who basically had to be worn down into accepting that Johnny and his ideology somehow weren’t ever even flawed in the first place. There’s no “middle ground,” it’s just the people who believe in peace being coaxed into permitting the continuation of violence. Like did the showrunners do it? Did they suck assimilationist dick enough?? Does the boot taste great? Are they fucking happy now??? Jfc

i agree with all your takes about ck and especially about how they did robby so so dirty, so i'm just curious, what do you think a good ending/arc for him would look like? like where would he be, what would he end up doing for his career, what would be a good conclusion for his character?
It depends on how far back we’re taking this. Actually meaningfully developing his relationship with Johnny on screen, and letting him retain his relationship with Daniel on screen, would have gone a long way in making the ending he did get palatable to me. If his little speech to Johnny actually felt earned in anyway, I would have found it moving. I would still think the whole influencer side of it was just really fucking stupid lol, but if it actually felt like he did have family and he did have people who loved him and prioritized him, it would be fine. Bc as it is it just feels like they slapped a few hundred thousand dollar bandaid on his life and said “hey he’s rich now, so you have to be happy!” 😒
But given that’s all been a lost cause for a while now, I suppose what I actually expected and wanted was for him to become a Miyagi-Do sensei. I always knew Robby wouldn’t win the Sekai Taikai and that’s fine. Would it be nice to see him win something for once? Sure, but it’s never been a priority to me. Mentoring Kenny seemed to be where Robby really shined, and he’s also the only student we’ve ever seen actually teach anyone. I think Daniel seeing his promise through to Amanda and actually retiring from teaching karate (bc obviously karate itself will always be a part of his life) and having Robby take over as sensei would have been a really full-circle conclusion to his arc, as well as bringing it all back around to his relationship with Daniel and what brought him into this world in the first place. It’s not as flashy as wealthy karate influencer, but that’s never been Robby, anyway.
