That's funny XDXDXD
More reasons why Zuko being the Firelord is objectively the funniest thing on earth:
HES SEVENTEEN
He hasn’t been civilised in 4 years, his entire teenage experience consists of living on a boat and sleeping rough. The most stable bed he has was probably in Ba Sing Se he probably will just nap anywhere.
He has customer service experience which means he probably uses his customer service voice on his minsters.
Additionally he probably just wanders into to kitchen to get his own snacks and tea because he forgets what servants do.
He probably has no idea why he can’t just chase after an assassin he used to hunt the avatar for Agnis sake why is the captain of the guard demanding he stay in his room he’ll find the guy first (he’s probably right)
Katara probably has a free pass on Eco terrorism because what’s he going to do challenge her, she’ll beat his ass.
If he saw a minster doing something shady he will either invite lady Beifong to detect their BS or commit B&E and look for evidence himself.
He somehow found a baby dragon and raises it.
He will be far to willing to give Kyoshi island anything they want cause he feels bad and Suki scares him.
He randomly insisted on giving some earth kingdom village 100 ostrich horses.
The Avatar will just show up call him Hotman and demand the go on adventures and the Firelord will just dip because he’s been confined to long and has the Zoomies.
He takes far to much advice from Sokka and will genuinely believe if someone doesn’t get Sokkas plans they must be an idiot because Sokka is 16.
Sokka and Zuko also get into a lot of teenage rebellion phases by accident.
Toph just walks in breaks a wall of his palace and demands a field trip that always involves the Firelord having to explain himself to the cops.
He somehow knows every dangerous teen in the world and they all come for tea uninvited.
He has broken into both the NWT and Ba Sing Se.
He has a really well documented facial scar and official portraits but still disappears to be Lee the tea guy like no one knows.
HES SEVENTEEN.

Avatar - The last Airbender
Recently I binge-watched "Avatar - The last Airbender". I never really gave it my full attention when I was a teenager when it first aired on TV (An American Cartoon in Anime-style/ influences of asian culture, can we even call it an Anime?)
Back then I only watched a few episodes from the end of the third season. Of course the show left me with questions instead of answers because I didn't know all the things that happened before in the story. So I stopped and continued to watch other Animes (such as Dragonball)
And now, after 20 years, I did finally give Avatar a try.
What can I say? It's awesome! This story has heart.
The first season of Avatar is a bit goofy and childish with all the slapstick. The second season has a more serious tone and IMO this is the moment when the show goes from good to great.
After years of watching Shonen-Anime made in Japan I have to admit: Avatar is just better.
Everything that get on my nerves in Shonen-Anime after a while isn't there in Avatar: The Last Airbender:
such as shouting the attacks (Avatar functions without it and the audience still knows what's happening during a fight)
characters standing at the side of the battlefield explaing the situation ("Oh my gosh, he is prepaing for attack Y, let me tell you what that means" followed by 5 minutes of flashbacks until the story continues*); after the fifth time I just skip such parts.
exaggeration: endless flashbacks of the tragic past of the main characters: yeah, we get it that Naruto did grow up in isolation and had a sad childhood because nobody wanted to play with him. We get it that he did grow up without parents. He does have my sympathy. But why telling the audience every other episode? In Avatar: Once (!) we see that Aang was not allowed to play with his friends because he had other duties. We see his teachers discussing how to educate him further and Aang putting on a sad face because he didn't have a say in this. - And it did give me feels.
basically all this explaining in Shonen-Anime: in western story telling there is this golden rule: show, don't tell and that works much better with the flow of the story. It's enough to tell/show things once or twice. If it's told well it will be remembered. There is no need for repeat
main character plot armor: Remember Goku and Yugi? They allways win... because...? Aang - as the Avatar - is the only one who can master all four elements. So it makes sense that in the end only he can win against the Fire lord. With Goku and Yugi I don't get it.
power of friendship: yeah, protecting your friends can be a much stronger motivation compared to only fighting for yourself. But that's not how it mainly works. In Avatar every character has his moment to shine. Everyone has their skills and brings something different to the table and together they are stronger than they could ever be alone. They listen to each other, take other opinions into account. They have their arguments but in the end they're there for each other, trust each other: A character jumps and there's another one to catch him. (no one fights on his own because...pride?) Friends aren't just there to give you a power boost
On top of that Avatar comes with a witty humor, Sarcasm and banter and self-irony I rarely experienced in japanes Anime (or maybe I just don't really get it in asian stories) I can definetely say that no reformed-and-now-good former enemy in Shonen-Anime ever had a dialoge like this: "Youn kind of burnt down my village" "Oh, sorry about that. Nice to see you again." XD -come on, that's brillant.
Don't get me wrong Dragonball (Z) will always have a special place in my heart. Every feature I mentioned is part of the charme of Shonen Anime. But I have to admit: After a while it does get tedious and makes me skip episodes (Name me one Anime-Fan who doesn't do that!).
Whereas I watched every single episode of Avatar (without skipping anything).
The only thing I have to critize is that there could have been a bit more gore or at least some more bruises in Avatar so the age restriction would have been higher. The topics became more mature (since season 2) so why not make the outcome of a fight a bit more realistic?
Apart from that, Avatar is great. And I say that as an adult who is way past his twenties. And I didn't even begin to talk about Zuko - the most profound character development I ever experienced on TV (only matched by Londo's and G'Kar's development from foes to friends in Babylon 5 - and that says something).

hi, do you know if there is another version of john watsons blog? because the one from the bbc was deleted?
Oof, yeah. As far as I can tell, the John / Molly / Connie sites are still online at their original addresses but the styling is fully messed up now. And the BBC managed to lose the original domain name for Sherlock's site a while back.
Luckily, all of the bonus websites for BBC Sherlock have been saved in their prior forms by the Wayback Machine. Here are links to the sites as they existed in early 2018:
John Watson's blog
The Science of Deduction (Sherlock Holmes' website)
Molly Hooper's blog
Connie Prince's website
You may notice that videos are missing from the archived version of John's blog, but I've already got those collected for you over here. Enjoy!

A Cloak of Yellow
Molly learned how to deal with Sherlock Holmes, eventually.
She learned how to dress to hide her secrets. She learned to smile and wink and sway to trick him into not worrying about her. She learned to throw him off with a well-placed innuendo.
When she hurt a little too much, she’d remind him that she’d moved on.
Her smudged lipstick testified to many of those attempts through the night. She wiped off the red, looking into the mirror and wondering if Sherlock had noticed the shade.
She’d felt Sherlock’s eyes on her in the crowd. Assessing, weighing, wondering, waiting. She’d pulled Tom in for a dozen kisses just to try to keep the weight of that gaze off of her.
When she saw him with Janine and her heart froze in her chest, she’d grinned and stepped away to talk and laugh and breath until she couldn’t see him anymore and the knot in her throat disappeared. Janine was wonderful and funny and smart. Sherlock would be happy with her. If he glanced at Molly, he’d never know she was hurt.
Molly undid her earrings and stared at her red cheeks and watery eyes. She didn’t wipe the tear away when it fell. She pushed the straps of her dress down, her grey mood clashing with the yellow of her dress.
She shopped for that dress in a direct contrast to her last party attempt. No dark, curve hugging fabric. No alluring curls or strappy heels. She picked vibrant and happy yellow. She picked a floppy bow and an easy bun and nice flats and a smile that could dazzle a room.
She hid behind these colors and these expressions and these actions because she had learned how to hide from the Great Detective. She frowned when she slipped the dress off, wondering why it felt so much like a lie. Hiding wasn’t a lie. It was protection. Molly always needed protection from Sherlock Holmes’s heartbreaking, but she felt different in this yellow dress.
When Molly looked in the mirror, she realized she had not learned to hide from herself.
What was a kiss if it was only a disguise?
What was a smile if it was only a mask?
What was the point of hiding her cracks and fissures and lines?
Love was not a game of hide and seek.
Molly looked in the mirror and decided not to hide any more.

That’s hilarious.
Headcanon that in the new good future where Marty McFly never has his accident, he does become a famous musician, while still going on time travel adventures with Doc, and then when the internet comes along, people on forums and message boards start discovering and posting photos of people in the past who look eerily like famous rock star Marty McFly, and as time goes on, “Marty McFly is a time traveller” becomes one of the biggest and most long running memes on the internet.
When Doc finds out he freaks out and panics and makes blog posts (because of COURSE Doc runs a blog) talking about how UTTERLY RIDICULOUS the idea of a time travelling rock star is, which the internet finds hilarious and only makes the meme spread more.
Marty meanwhile thinks the whole thing is the funniest thing ever and is just wheezing at every new forum or jokey article about it, and directly addresses the meme in interviews, bringing up this “crazy conspiracy” that people have, until eventually he can just say things like “well of course I am a time traveller” or “oh you like my hat? Thank you I got it in the 1910s”, and people just crack up, and Marty cracks up too because no-one realises that he’s not even lying.

OMG!
I just watched the movie Dragonball Super Broly! It’s amazing!
Tumblr media
The art style of the characters is just like it was in the old days. The characters are muscular and detailed (as they should be) The fighting scenes are intense, dynamic and lively!
And the best is: Vegeta is in Character! I wasn’t a fan of him in the whole Dragonball super series. But now he is back to his old self!  Just like he was at the end of the Boo Saga! He finds the moves of the fusion dance embarrassing and he expresses it in a way it fits his character (like in the DBZ episode “The innards of Boo” and the movie “Fusion”). He doesn’t jump and dance around like a fool and starts cooking etc. because he wants a certain person to train him (I hated these scenes in DBS because something like that wasn't in his nature at all). He steps in to fight along side Goku because he knows that they won’t win when they fight on their own. He is wiser, assesses the situation and helps (just like he did in the Boo Saga) instead of being like "Grrr...Kakarott" and refusing to do anything until others explain the situation to him. And these are just a few examples! Really, the fact that they did Vegeta’s personality finally right amazes me a lot! It felt like a real continuation of Boo Vegeta.
Then these deeply emotional scenes between Broly and Cheelai. His relationship with his father Paragus. Broly is an extremely interesting character and has more depth than he had in "The legendary Super Sayan". King Vegeta, Bardock, Gine....I can go on and on. Goku. OK, believing that Frieza won’t attack earth because he owes them, is very stupid and one can argue whether it fits his character or not. (I think it doesn’t). But apart from that...Wow! What a movie!

After everything Molly did, she didn’t deserve to be a joke again. Faking Sherlock’s death requires intelligence and good acting skills. Making her boyfriend look like Sherlock without her realizing it felt like an insult to her character.
I realize that no one in that scene is like “Wow, Molly, you knew the whole time that Sherlock was alive. You fooled us all!” That could have been an interesting scene and Molly could have been finally defined by other character traits than just “the girl who is in love with Sherlock”
But no, just put her back into the role she had in season 1 and make her a joke again.
She isn’t taken seriously in that scene. Everyone is either confused or laughing behind her back and like “let this poor thing have this.” And they’re supposed to be her friends.
So, yeah, I’m with you. It was awful, unfair and unnecessary.
Why did the writers do that scene?
Well, they casted that actor and recognized a small resemblance with Sherlock and came up with that idea and thought “hey, that could be an awesome joke!” without thinking things through.
Yeah...
Discussion: why Tom
I just wanted to get some thoughts on why Gatiss and Moffat decided to bring Tom into the picture and why they decided he should be a carbon copy of Sherlock.
My thoughts are that they were going for the laugh, molly herself was created as a lipstick joke abs her feelings have often been used as a joke. It’s Louise Brealeys astounding acting that had turned molly from caricature to a character many treasure as much as Sherlock himself.
So why bring Tom up? And why make him a Sherlock clone? If sherlolly was never the endgame why didn’t the writers give molly a lovely handsome man to ride off into the sunset with? Why get rid of him after two episodes?
What was the point of him? What do we learn about molly? About Sherlock through this man. And was it really fair to do this to molly (spoiler alert I think it was awful and completely unfair)
So questions
Why bring Tom up?
Why make him a clone of Sherlock
Would you have preferred someone else (Tom Huddlestone or anyone else)
What was the point? Why drop him so soon
Was making Tom a clone of Sherlock a fair thing to do to mollys character
