1. Purpose of the media
The use of the media is to promote and advertise their product, which is McDonald's fries in the hope that consumers will buy it after seeing the poster.
2. Genre
It has a type of online advertising.
3. Audience
Since it is food advertising, the audience could be everyone. It may also get the attention of the kids since the claw above the fries may pertain to the ones like in the claw machine games they usually play.
4. Content (Is it organized and focused on a topic or a story? Is there a central theme? What is it? Do phrases appear as if they might have been taken out of context? Is it subject to misinterpretation, or is it misleading? Are there any stereotypes reinforced or challenged?)
The content of the advertisement from McDonald’s is basically saying to keep your eyes on your fries rather than looking at others' fries. The content and the advert is displayed simplistically, but the advertisement may still be subjected to misunderstandings. A reason as to why that is so is because of the presence of a claw above the fries. If the advert is about keeping your eyes to your fries, why is there a claw above the fries?
5. Authority/Author (who is responsible for this media? Is he/she a credible content creator? Does it have an identifiable or respectable creator?)
The author, the one who is responsible for the advertisement poster, is the marketing department of McDonalds Philippines. The author is credible because when you call the number indicated in the banner, it contacts to McDonald's. There is no indication if the media has a responsible creator.
6. Usefulness (Is it relevant to other viewers and me?)
Fast-food chains are very famous, especially to people who have hectic and full schedules. Because of this, it is very famous and useful for those who want fast food. The advertisement is beneficial and relevant since fast-food chains like McDo are very famous and easy to access, and through this advertisement, they can inform the public about their products.
7. Is it interesting? Are the creators successful in relaying the information or the purpose to the audience?
Yes, it is interesting because there’s a crane above the McDo Fries. I think the creators are successful in relaying the purpose of the poster to the audience because they included a caption below the image that explains to keep an eye for your fries, for it can be captured by others, which is referring to the crane above the fries.
8. What makes is different from other media products?
The difference between this advert from other adverts is the simplicity of it. There is nothing much happening in the advert, yet it still catches your eyes with simple words. It makes you think fries, the one that they are advertising, is a prize. Rhyming with other words is often the key to advertising for catching phrases, so it marks the minds of the consumers.
