Okay, I want to chime in with my bit on this.
I honestly don't think he was lying. Personally, I think that he just. Kinda thought that no one would follow Bushido THAT thoroughly. Because HE wouldn't. The thing about Byakuya is that while he can read people pretty well, he often doesn't get their motivations. It's hard for him to kind of. Acknowledge that others may act the way they do for a certain reason. Especially if the action in question is committing suicide for (in his opinion) no valid reason. Or committing suicide at all, for that matter. Because it's kind of like giving up, isn't it? At least to him. At least it should've been to Sakura, I mean, they're so similar, aren't they? That decision, especially coming from her, just makes no sense to him.
The Significance of Bushido for Sakura Ogami and Byakuya Togami
Hello! I don't really post analysis stuff, so please pardon if this is formatted weirdly or a bit awkward!
So, to start! In the official artbook, there are relationship charts which share snippets of what characters think of each other. For Byakuya Togami, Sakura Ogami's thought says "He also seems to possess knowledge of bushido" as seen below (please excuse the crunchy screenshot)
Tumblr media
I've seen a lot of people assuming that bushido is a martial art, so I wanted to take some time to talk about what bushido is, and how it highlights the parallels between Sakura Ogami and Byakuya Togami. (The antagonists all have parallels with the rest of the cast, but I haven't seen many people talking about the parallels with Byakuya specifically!)
So, what is bushido if not a martial art? It is a series of seven codes or principles which dictate how martial artists (particularly samurai) It is about how you carry yourself, how you pursue goals, and maintaining honor.
These are all important to conduct of martial artist and historically, the structuring of the samurai lifestyle. However, notably, the contemporary form is used in economic organization of Japan! This is an interesting parallel already, because in two forms it represents key aspects of both Sakura and Byakuya.
Now, before I get into the 7 codes, I'd like to take a moment to establish the parallels between the two characters. Namely, how their family and their role within the family is integral to the characters and their motivations. Sakura was born and raised into her role as the martial artist, her position as the martial artist who would have eventually taken over her family's dojo and legacy are key to who she is. Byakuya is similar in that regard, he was born and raised a potential heir to the Togami family, and would have eventually inherited the conglomerate and legacy. They both had to fight for their position (Sakura more literally) and hold said position with pride- though it of course looks different for both of them on the basis that Byakuya is an asshole about it. Another interesting tidbit is that their names themselves are similar. Sakura and Byakuya have similar sounds, but that isn't very important. What I DO find more noteworthy is their family names. Togami and Ogami. That is One Letter apart. Togami means Ten Gods, and Ogami roughly translates to large/great deity. I personally interpret this to have some insight about familiar structure, specifically with Byakuya being one of MANY siblings whereas Sakura was the only female of her generation, and that they both rose above these odds. However, the part that really matters about the parallels here, is that their families are important to who they are.
With that groundwork in mind, let me list the seven codes!
Righteousness- Do not attack without an important reason Loyalty- You must always be loyal to your master, even at the cost of your own life Honor- An honorless life is not a life at all  Respect- Respect your enemy, even after death Honesty- Never lie or use deception Courage- You fight to the death, regardless of fear. You must master your own fear. Consistency- You must never change your path, you must only move forward
Now I will go through each code and explain how it relates to both characters under the cut!
Righteousness "Do not attack without an important reason"
UPHELD BY BOTH Neither Byakuya or Sakura ever attacked anyone directly, BUT Byakuya did his whole deal in chap 2 and Sakura was a traitor. These were both for very specific reasons. (Even if Byakuya's reasons were not GOOD, they WERE important to him.) Byakuya wanted to reveal Genocider Syo's identity and test his classmates. Sakura of course wanted to protect her family's dojo. In the THH story, they BOTH upheld this principle
Loyality "You must always be loyal to your master, even at the cost of your own life"
UPHELD BY BOTH (mostly) In this case, I would say that their "master" is their family (For Sakura this was probably in more ways than one since her teacher was probably family as well) Byakuya is loyal to the Togami family, and Sakura is loyal to the Ogami family (dojo). Their families and family legacy integral to both characters as I discussed earlier, and it serves as a large motivation for their actions in general. They both see their family as a point of pride. Sakura went against her own values to protect her family's dojo, which was a MAJOR TURNING POINT for her story. Byakuya's BIGGEST SHIFT in outward presentation when he heard that HIS family legacy was destroyed- and what pulled him out of it was the idea of restoring it. They BOTH upheld this principle..... mostly. Sakura eventually chose to defy monokuma rather than protect her dojo, and after everything Byakuya DID say he wanted to travel, which could imply a lack of interest in immediately starting back up with the Togami line? But, overall I'd say they did both display extreme loyalty to their families)
Honor "An honorless life is not a life at all"
BOTH FAILED (Notably, if you make a mistake and thus lose your honor, by bushido code you should commit suicide.)
This one is more complicated than the others. Both Sakura and Byakuay try to behave "honorably" in VERY different ways- Sakura presents as more. well. actually honorable and Byakuya would better be described as acting Like a Noble- but still upholding an image of complete perfection (which, to him, is like honor). Sakura is genuinely honorable, but her 'honor' as described by bushido and her own sense of honor was lost by being the traitor. She takes her own life not directly from lack of honor, but as a form of consequence and trying to repair what happened. So, she failed in not losing her honor but upheld the code by committing suicide. Byakuya never really lost his image, despite his deal in chapter two, so in that way HIS sense of honor was not lost despite the fact that he did behave extremely dishonorably. He also did not kill himself, despite his mistakes. Essentially, they both failed in kind of inverse ways. They both lost their honor through a dishonorable action/mistake (Byakuya mistreating Chihiro's corpse and Sakura betraying her peers), however Byakuya's self image and sense of honor was not damaged while Sakura's WAS. So, in terms of self image, Byakuya upheld it while Sakura didn't. However, in terms of the expected suicide, Sakura upheld it (granted for different reasons) while Byakuya didn't.
Respect "respect your enemy, even after death" FAILED BY BYAKUYA A large part of this principle is to respect your enemy's life AND death- you must treat their corpse with respect. Byakuya BLATANTLY FAILED THIS ONE. like really badly. Really really badly.
Sakura.... well, she was a traitor yes, but not because she wanted to, and she was always respectful as possible despite that. Sakura is also, in general, six million times more respectful than Byakuya in any given situation. So, Byakuya failed this one and Sakura didn't.
Honesty "Never lie or use deception"
FAILED BY BOTH Ok so... everyone lies sometimes. But ignoring that. Byakuya lies by ommission or implication (This could be its own post, but basically if you have to TELL people that you are confident and unbothered and unafraid instead of just BEING that way, it is almost certainly a lie or exaggeration) but not a huge amount directly. He DID in fact lie and deceive everyone with chap 2. Duhhhh. Sakura notably lied more directly (not by choice) with the whole traitor situation. It's interesting that, strictly in terms of bushido code about their main chapters, Sakura actually failed WORSE THAN BYAKUYA???? However, overall, Byakuya fails like daily. So. Either way they both failed.
Courage "You fight to the death, regardless of fear. You must master your own fear"
UPHELD BY BOTH Neither of them were in a situation to fight to the death exactly, BUTTTT Im focusing on the mastery of fear part. They BOTH push through their own fear to appear strong- for different reasons. Sakura wanted to reassure others, Bykauya wanted to reassure himself and more specifically establish his position as above the others. (again, could be a whole other post)
Courage is not the lack of fear, but continuing on in spite of it. And considering the whole, yknow, KILLING GAME there's no shot that either of them had ZERO fear. But they both did a good job hiding it! So, I think they both very much so upheld this one!
Consistency "You must never change your path, you must only move forward"
FAILED BY SAKURA There's a bit less to this one. Although they are both clearly very motivated people, Sakura failed while Byakuay did not. Sakura CHANGED her direction in relation to the whole traitor thing by switching up on monokuma, which I'm not here to argue if it was good or bad. What I care about here is that she changed her original goal of protecting her family for doing what is perhaps better overall- BUT that is still giving up on an original path. (By Bushido code. Not arguing about whether or not you should ever change your goals irl or if characters change motivations or if Sakura was wrong idc) Bykauya however, even with his WHOLE FAMILY GONE, declared he would rebuild his family legacy single handedly. He also was extremely consistent in being dedicated to the Togami family for literally the entire time. Sakura changed direction (and in a sense betrayed her family), but Byakuya didn't (for better or for worse).
Its just very interesting to me what codes they failed/upheld. Largely speaking, they failed and upheld the same codes, but both had one where they failed and the other didn't.
And again, it's VERY INTERESTING TO ME that the bushido code specifically applies to both historic martial arts and modern day economics. Almost as if.... it's a parallel !!!!
I am sorry if this was incomprehensible. im not an analaysis person you know. i just draw things im not here to be smart

So. I saw @babyblankyerror 's post about Stan dying and being reborn in another Stan's body. And I thought of the potential this idea has. Like, Gravity Falls has countless AUs, Stan could have ended up in any of them! So, I decided to write a little something for the soul. Hope you enjoy :P
TW: main character death, passive/mentioned suicide ideation
Stan is prepared to die. He isn't happy about it, not like he would have been a few months ago, but prepared. The portal is dangerous, Stan is old, and those two factors don't really leave him with the best chances of survival. And that's okay. As long as Ford and the kids aren't hurt, everything would be fine.
His back hurts like Hell, though, and he can't feel his legs, which... Probably isn't good, but Stan can't bring himself to care because Ford is back. Through a slowly spreading haze, Stan can see the man approaching rapidly, six-fingered hand hurriedly pulling the hood off his head. The mask slides down his face next, and Stan can finally see Ford in all his sci-fi glory.
It's weird, seeing a face so similar to his contorted into such a desperate frown, while feeling the corners of his own lips pull up in a tired smile. A cascade of footsteps sounds from somewhere to his left, two skittish sets followed by a heavier, sturdier frame. Ford whips his head towards the noise, cracked lens of his glasses glistening in the dimming light of the portal. Stan tries to speak but can only manage a pathetically quiet wheeze.
"Grunkle Stan!" The voice is muffled, but distinctly panicked. It sounds shrill. Mabel? Maybe Dipper if he's scared enough? Stan's attempted laugh turns into a cough so strong that it feels like his ribs are cracking with the force of it. The metallic taste of blood fills his mouth and latches to his very much fake teeth. Ouch. That can't be good.
"Mister Pines?" Stan starts to turn his head towards Soos's trembling voice, but six stern fingers pull his face back to stare into the terrified eyes of Stanford Pines.
"Stanley? You have to stay awake, alright? Please, you have to stay awake." Ford's gaze trails lower, down to Stan's numb legs, and he doesn't manage to swallow a stuttering gasp. "Just- Just listen to my voice, okay? I need some time, please."
And Stan tries. He really does, but he's just so tired. His vision is blurry, even blurrier than it was before he finally gave up and bought himself a flimsy pair of glasses. His hearing isn't any better, getting fuzzier by the second despite his hearing aid. His brother's – Moses, his brother is finally back – voice feels far away, as if muted by a thick layer of cotton. But there's something else too.
"Grunkle Stan?" It's pretty obvious that it's Dipper this time, tone uneven with stress and puberty. He sounds scared, helpless, and... Guilty. Stan knows what that sounds like just as well as he knows that Dipper has no reason to feel that way. He's just a kid, scared of an unknown, gravitational-anomaly creating device under the house he was living in. Rightfully so, Stan might add. He can't be mad at Dipper for doing what he thought was right, now can he? Well, as tired as he is, the least he can do is tell the kid his last ever truth.
"C-c'mon now, ya gremlins. 'S nothin' worth cryin' about." His voice came out small and raspy, and it earns a stiffled whine from Ford. Maybe not just Ford. Stan can't really tell anymore. "You- you should meet the author 'f th' journals. Ya been excited 'bout it. He's my brother, y'know." Another coughing fit rattles his entire body, sharp pain flaring up in his side.
"Stanley?" Ford's hand touches his chin, six fingernails digging into the skin with a desperate urgency.
"Mister Pines?!" Soos's voices crackles, as if coming through a faulty radio.
"Grunkle Stan!" Mabel's panicked face appears above him, blurring rapidly even through his newly cracked glasses.
"Grunkle Stan!" Dipper's hand finds his, and try as he might, Stan doesn't quite manage to squeeze back. The poor kid sounds and looks like he's on the verge of a breakdown. He's shouldn't look like that. At least not for someone like Stan.
"S'okay. Don' cry. Ford'll take good care o' ya." His breath feels shallow, and the world feels too far away. Everything hurts. Everything's numb. He's so tired. "'M sorry I didn' do better."
He let's his eyes close. He's okay with this. He deserves this.
Time to put an actual body in his grave, huh?
***
He's... Somewhere.
Or maybe nowhere.
He doesn't know.
He doesn't care.
Something is here.
Or maybe someone.
It calls itself the Axolotl.
It's saying something.
He doesn't know what.
He doesn't care.
He closes his eyes and plunges into the unknown.
***
He didn't expect to ever open his eyes again, and yet here he is, staring wearily at the blazing Sun above him. His head hurts. So does pretty much everything else. He's still utterly exhausted, limbs heavy with the weight of probably recent events.
Where is he, anyway? It seems terribly familiar-
"Lee? Lee, are you okay?" Woah, he hadn't heard that voice in decades. Little Ford's face swims into the view, blurry, but clearly concerned.
"Mmm," Stan hums noncommittally. His voice sounds squeakier than he remembers it being even at this age. That's weird.
"C'mon, you gotta get up," Ford huffs, hauling Stan into a sitting position. His face is red with sunburn, and judging by the ache in his cheeks, Stan's isn't any better. "Ma's gonna be so mad that you got into a fight again."
"At this point, it's kinda her fault if she wasn't expecting it," Stan snorts, stray hair tickling the junction between his shoulder and his neck. His hair wasn't that long at this age, was it? He couldn't quite remember anymore. "And at least Pa will approve."
"No matter how many times you say it, he really won't. He always says that girls shouldn't fight, you know." Ford doesn't seem to notice Stan's puzzled look, choosing to stare intently at his palms instead. He looks strangely ashamed, with his hands laid against the thick fabric of his jeans.
"What does that gotta do with anything?"
"Well, Pa's definitely not gonna be happy with you fighting someone for me again. He says that I should stop being such a sissy and that you should stop enabling it." Just as Stan is about to protest, Ford looks up at him with a smallest grin on his lips. "And Ma's pretty tired of patching up your skirt. I'm actually pretty sure it's more patch than skirt at this point."
His... His what now? Stan's eyes trail down to his legs, which are, in fact, covered by a white skirt with what looks like jeans peeking out from under it. Long curls spill over his shoulders, bouncing lightly at the disturbance. The wheeze he lets out sounds shrill.
Oh.
That can't be good.
***
And that's it! As a little note, Lee's name is supposed to be spelled Li since it's actually a Hebrew name, but the nurse wrote it down as Lee, and neither Caryn nor Filbrick bothered to correct it.

Do you have any Jimmy Snakes head cannons/opinions?
Im going to be so honest right here, I have been avoiding this question because I just. Don't.
Look, I know who Jimmy Snakes is. I SEE THE VISION with having a cool biker guy with a handlebar mustache and mysterious backstory, I see the vibe, I get the draw of him!
I just. Have. No idea what to do with Mr Snakes here.
Ive seen his character go two ways, Jimmy Snakes is either Stans super cool biker friend/partner who is great but a lost love because he died/they had a falling out/something
OR Jimmy Snakes is an abuser.
Now theres nothing wrong with either interpretation, but I feel like both make Jimmy Snakes just fill like. A role. Hes either a supporting character because Stan couldn't get through Plot on his own, OR hes an antagonist for Stan angst. Neither are BAD choices BTW, they're just choices I don't particularly NEED in my writing
So I just. Never. Bothered to include Jimmy Snakes or fill out his character in my head because I haven't found a good plot place to slide him in
Its SIMILAR to how I am about writing Bill Cipher, in that I will probably eventually find a story i want to write that includes him in it, but for the moment im content with the Stan and Ford paper dolls im playing with
Sorry this took so long to answer!!

Happy pride month specifically to folks on the asexual and aromantic spectrum who oftentimes feel isolated and left out of the conversation. You belong here as much as the rest of us and I hope that you are all loved in a way that is comforting to you.
