Imagine living in a war zone, choosing to spend every day helping others survive—only to be targeted by a missile for daring to help.

Written by @rumiandroses
Ahmad Anwar Hamad is a 33-year-old statistical analyst and humanitarian from Northern Gaza. With a bachelor's degree in applied statistics and a master’s in sustainable development and food security, he dedicated his life to helping others—especially over the past nineteen months.
Since the beginning of the conflict, Ahmad has volunteered nonstop: delivering food, milk, diapers, and clothing to children; supporting women and people with disabilities; and even building an entire tent camp for displaced families when the Israeli military ordered mass evacuations from Rafah in May 2024. He organized shelter, clean water, and essentials for those who had lost everything.
But a month ago, Ahmad’s work was nearly cut short forever. While transporting aid, he was targeted by a missile. Though he escaped with his life, all of the funds he had brought to help others were lost. Since then, he has had no choice but to stop providing services.
Now, Ahmad is the one in need of help. He hopes to raise funds to restart his efforts—especially to dig a well and supply families with safe water and life-sustaining basics.
This is someone who has poured his education, heart, and every resource he had into serving his people.
Let's give back to him, and help him realize his mission of helping others.
You can donate to Ahmed's GoFundMe campaign here:
While Ahmed is not vetted by a mutual aid organization, he extensively documents his life, his work, and the reality of daily life in Gaza on his Threads account (@ahmed_hamad1991).

Imagine fleeing the only home you've ever known, leaving behind all your belongings, memories, and dreams to escape the horrors of war.
Imagine arriving in a new country, scarred physically and emotionally, only to find yourself struggling to secure even the most basic necessities for your family.

@majedgerbawi
Story written by @rumiandroses
Majed and his family of five endured the unthinkable as they fled Gaza for Egypt, seeking safety from relentless violence. Once surrounded by the comforts of home and the promise of a better future, they now find themselves displaced, without the means to build a new life. The war brought their lives to a standstill: Majed’s eldest son lost his job, his other son had to halt his education, and his daughter’s dreams of graduating university were shattered.
Now in Egypt, they face yet another uphill battle. With skyrocketing rent prices and a lack of resources, they are unable to find stable housing or cover the cost of education. Majed desperately wants to provide a safe and secure environment for his family—a place where they can begin to heal, rebuild, and dream once more.
Their home, once a symbol of hope and warmth, is now rubble. They’ve lost everything, but not their determination to create a better future. Majed is humbly asking for help to secure a safe home, resume his children’s education, and stand on his feet again.
Every donation, no matter how small, is a step toward giving Majed’s family a chance to rebuild their lives and recover their dignity. Your support can transform their despair into hope and their uncertainty into security.
Please, if you can, donate to their GoFundMe [HERE], or share their story so others can help.

Mustafa Zaquot is unwell and in urgent need of medical treatment, yet he puts his own health aside to care for his 13-member family. They are in desperate need of funds—not just for basic necessities, but also for a new tent, as their current one is destroyed and nearly uninhabitable.
Tragically, Mustafa’s previous GoFundMe campaign was compromised, and the funds raised were stolen from him. This is a reality no one should ever have to face. So much effort went into bringing attention to their struggle, only for the fruits of that labor to be cruelly taken away.
Their new campaign currently stands at only $40 out of an $80,000 goal. Meanwhile, their needs have grown—most recently, they welcomed a new baby into the family.
We hope you’ll extend the grace and compassion they deserve—to help them rebuild, to care for their children, and to reclaim what was unjustly taken from them.
You can donate to Mustafa's Chuffed campaign [HERE].

Imagine knowing you have only hours left in a place you once called refuge—because the bombs are coming. Imagine being told you have to flee again, this time with just a mattress and a few clothes, to find a sliver of sand near the sea where thousands of other displaced families have already pitched makeshift tents. You're only 200 meters from a declared evacuation zone, and every moment that passes feels like a deadly countdown. There is no safety, no certainty—only the urgent need to survive one more day with your children.

Hossam Al-Qazzaz, his wife Hanan, and their four young children (Bashar, Hani, Diana, and baby Habiba) have been displaced again and again. For months they have endured bombardments, lived in a fragile tent, survived on scraps, and risked their lives just to secure the resources they need in order to survive. Recently, Hossam described navigating chaos and gunfire just to reach a foreign aid center—leaving at 2 a.m., dodging bullets, watching others die for food.
Now, what little fragile stability they have is crumbling again.

Hossam and his family are just 200 meters from the evacuation zone. Israeli forces have ordered mass evacuations in Khan Younis. “We’re being cornered,” Hossam wrote to us. "They’re pushing us all into a narrow strip on the coast.”
This is not just a crisis. It is a relentless and systemic stripping away of dignity, shelter, food, and hope.

Her campaign has been stuck at $4,000 since December. Can we help her reach $5,000 within the next month? Even the cost of your morning coffee could make a significant difference in boosting her campaign and giving her a glimmer of hope.

Hossam Al-Qazzaz, his wife Hanan, and their four young children, are among the 80% of Khan Younis residents now ordered to evacuate toward the coast.
They are currently in Square 111, a region dangerously close to the so-called "evacuation zones" that are actively being bombed.
Hossam has shared that their area is expected to be targeted next—and they fear that when the next order comes, they will be forced to flee into even deadlier zones.
Last night (05/18/2025) was horrific. “We never imagined that we would be alive in the morning,” Hossam wrote. Now, with communications at risk of being cut off, Hossam has asked the world to share his message and pray for his family’s survival.
His hope is to find a path to safety, to protect his loved ones, and to stay alive long enough to rebuild.
Please, share this post, pray for Hossam and his family, and consider donating if you can, so that this precious family can continue to survive.

For over 20 days, Hossam's 75 year old father has remained in the hospital, undergoing four major skin transplant surgeries and cosmetic procedures to address the damage. Despite his critical condition, he was discharged prematurely due to a lack of space and resources in the overwhelmed hospital.
Now back in the family’s makeshift tent, his recovery has been fraught with challenges. Hossam’s father requires extensive ongoing care, including costly medications, moisturizers, and weekly treatments amounting to $150. Living in a war-torn region without access to stable income or adequate medical supplies has left the family struggling to provide for his needs.
This family is fighting against insurmountable odds, seeking to alleviate his pain and ensure his recovery. They are asking for urgent help to cover the costs of his treatment and provide a semblance of stability in these dire circumstances.
Every donation can make a tangible difference, helping Hossam’s father regain his health and dignity after enduring so much.
Please consider donating to their campaign to support Hossam’s family during this critical time. You can find Hossam's GoFundMe [HERE].

Imagine waking up every day surrounded by the echoes of destruction, knowing that your loved ones’ survival depends on escaping to a safer place, but the cost of that safety is far beyond your reach.

Story written by @rumiandroses
Layan Qudeeh is a 19-year-old software engineering student living in Gaza, where the daily realities of war and displacement have taken a devastating toll on her and her family. Once surrounded by the warmth of home and the promise of education, she now faces unimaginable hardships. Her house has been badly damaged, and she and her family have been forced to move into a tent—an environment wholly unfit for living, especially for her one-year-old sister Wateen, who desperately needs clean water and nutritious food to survive.
Layan’s dreams of peace and a brighter future remain steadfast, but the challenges grow heavier each day. She has already endured the loss of family members and countless treasured memories. Yet, she refuses to let this cycle of suffering define her life. She dreams of a world where her siblings can play and laugh without fear and where opportunities for growth and prosperity are within reach.
The only path forward for her family, is to escape the ongoing horrors in Gaza. For Layan and her family, this means raising enough funds to cross the Rafah border—at a staggering cost of $6,000 per adult and $3,000 for children under 14. It’s an impossible amount for them to achieve alone. With your help, however, they can begin to rebuild their lives in safety.
Every donation, no matter the size, brings Layan and her family closer to their dream of survival, education, and peace. Your compassion and generosity could provide them with the chance to start anew and forge a future free from the shadows of war.

Story written by @fabricated-pessimist
Samir Al-Astal, son of Ahmed Al-Astal, has been in critical condition since February 2024. He lost one leg, and the other is now effectively paralyzed. All of Samir’s severe bone fractures are a direct result of the occupation in Gaza. Heartbreakingly, Ahmed has already lost his other son, Saeed. Most recently, their tents were struck by a devastating bombing, resulting in the deaths of an entire family.
As Ahmed puts it: “The genocide does not stop in the tents.”
Is that not a devastating truth?
Tents and shared camps are among the only remaining sources of shelter and solace for many Palestinians—yet even these offer no true safety. Despite everything, Ahmed continues to fight for his family's survival, working tirelessly to amplify their campaign, even as the algorithm tries time and again to silence him.
Please, do not let his efforts be in vain. This family has endured more than anyone should, and they deserve to know that their story moved someone enough to take action and donate.
If you cannot donate, please reblog this post so the story of Ahmed and his family can reach people who can.

Imagine that you are the sole provider for your family in the midst of a devastating genocide. Every day, you watch the land you once knew be levelled by bombs and scarred by weapons. Every night, you fear sudden death from the drones humming menacingly overhead.
As you do your best to navigate your family safely through the unimaginable, your little siblings, going hungry from the shortage of food brought about by the conflict, look to you for food, shelter, and comfort. With infrastructure almost totally decimated, and no jobs to be had, how are you going to provide for them so you can all survive to see another day?
This is the nightmarish reality that Jafaar Wael has been living in since October of 2023.

Jaafar, a young man from North Gaza, is fighting to support his family through unimaginable hardship. As the sole provider of his family, he shoulders the immense responsibility of caring for his loved ones, including his younger siblings, who rely on him for food, clothing, and warmth.
The fight to raise money to survive has been an uphill battle for Jafaar; a struggle which has only been compounded by his first GoFundMe campaign being inexplicably deleted. With the deleted campaign went all of the money Jafaar had managed to raise.
Despite this devastating setback, Jafaar is trying again, launching a second fundraising campaign in hopes of giving his family a chance at survival. His plea is simple but urgent: even small donations, as little as $5, can help provide food, warm clothing, and the hope they so desperately need.
“Please don’t ignore me,” Jaafar wrote to us in his request for assistance. “Any amount you donate, even if it is small, will save my family. Be merciful with us, please."
This young man's determination to save his beloved family is unwavering, and he clings to the hope that the kindness of others will make a difference. Let us be the living embodiment of that difference for Jafaar and his family.

Imagine the heartbreak of explaining to your young daughter why her beloved toys are hanging from a ceiling, cruelly arranged in a grotesque mockery of innocence.
Tumblr media
@kholoodgaza
@kholoodpals
Story written by @rumiandroses
Now imagine trying to explain to her why the soldiers who are destroying your entire world are not only causing unimaginable devastation but also taking their monstrous cruelty further—ransacking bombed and abandoned homes, mocking their victims by posting vile acts on social media, playing with women’s intimate belongings [LINK], and hanging dolls in the bedrooms of displaced children [LINK].
Can you fathom trying to make sense of such hatred to your 2-year-old daughter?
This is not a scene from a nightmare or a work of fiction—it’s the chilling, heartbreaking reality faced by 29-year-old Khlood Smeer and her family in Gaza.
Stripped of their home and belongings just two weeks before the birth of their son, Khlood, her husband Khaled, and their two-year-old daughter Amira have been forced into a daily battle for survival amidst the horrors of war.
Khlood and Khaled, both professionals—a physiotherapist and a paramedic—are now navigating the unimaginable: raising their newborn son and toddler in a war zone where basic necessities are nearly unattainable. Inflation has made food and medical care almost impossible to afford, leaving them reliant on the kindness of strangers to provide their children with even the bare minimum.
Now, consider this: as they endure these hardships, they are met with psychological torment from acts like the ones described above. These images, shared widely, are not just haunting remnants; they represent a cruel reality, designed to strip survivors of their dignity and hope.
Yet, Khlood and Khaled fight on—for their children, for their survival, and for a future that doesn’t feel like a waking nightmare.
Your contribution, no matter how small, could be the difference between despair and hope for this family. Every dollar helps Khlood secure food, shelter, and safety for her children.
Let’s ensure that Amira grows up, not haunted by memories of the cruelty of soldiers, but inspired by the generosity of the kind-hearted strangers who chose to stand with her family in their darkest hour.

Please, help this precious family survive. 🙏💔

Imagine walking for miles in the dead of night, heart pounding, every step toward a place where death might meet you before a loaf of bread. You press forward anyway, because your children are hungry, and you have no other choice. Around you are thousands of others—just as desperate, just as determined. A single mistake, a single step too far, and you could be shot.
All of this—for a bag of beans and a bag of pasta.
Tumblr media Tumblr media

Story written by @rumiandroses
This is what Hossam Al-Qazzaz, a father in Gaza, endures just to feed his family.
Every few days, Hossam risks his life to reach an American aid distribution site near the seaside. To even get there, he must leave his home around 2:00 a.m., walk over 14 kilometers, and gather within a one-kilometer radius with thousands of others. As dawn breaks, American soldiers set off fireworks—a signal for the crowd to run the final kilometer. People shove, sprint, and scream in a chaotic stampede. IDF soldiers open fire at those who cross the perimeter. Hossam describes it as a scene from a jungle: desperation, chaos, and fear.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Images: Thousands of starving people rush aid centers in Gaza. Many are shot, just trying to get food for their families. Source
Only the fastest and strongest make it to the food. Those who are weaker, or who are further down the distribution line go home empty-handed. Often, the parcels are snatched away by others, and conflicts break out with knives and sharp weapons. Sometimes, Hossam makes it out with something small—this week, just a bag of beans and a bag of pasta. Other times, he returns with nothing but his life.
"I’m just glad I came back alive," he wrote to us, after his most recent trip to the aid center left him empty-handed.
The situation is only growing more dangerous. Aid is scarce, the crowds hoping to receive the aid are massive, and Israeli forces often fire on civilians trying to reach food. Hossam and his wife Hanan live in constant fear for their own lives, as well as for their children’s safety. They are fighting an uphill battle just to provide food for their children, from posting about their situation constantly on platforms that keep banning them due to “community guidelines” violations (apparently posting about the severity of their situation is a ban-able offense) to doing everything they can to find food in their area, like going to the aid center.
Please, if you are able, donate to help Hossam and his family, so they can buy food and water without having to risk death to get it. And if you cannot donate, please share this post. Gaza does not need more silence—it needs action.
