Origins of Supers: How Did You Get Your Glow-Up?

How do Supers in the world of Generation Nova get their powers? Was it a freak lab accident? A cosmic inheritance? A top-secret government program? Maybe they were just born this way...

In the world of Generation Nova, Supers fall into seven major classifications, based on the origin of their abilities:

🧪 AUCTREN - aka Augmented, Experimented, Enhanced Born normal, made exceptional. These are your serums, your super-soldier projects, your "I signed up for a clinical trial and now I can lift a car" types.

👽 EXOGEN - aka Aliens, Extraterrestrials, Otherworldly From beyond the stars… or somewhere even weirder. Whether they're cosmic royalty or just crash-landed exchange students, Exogens aren't from around here.

🔧 MECHAN- aka Engineers, Scientists, Gadgeteers No powers? No problem. These tech-savvy minds build their way to super-status — powered armor, combat drones, jet boots and beyond.

🧬 METAGEN - aka Mutants, Metahumans, Evolved Born different, or awakened by trauma, time, or tides of change. Powers are in their DNA — and sometimes a total surprise.

🤖 SYNTHARI - aka Robots, Androids, Automatons Artificial life, real impact. From prototype AI to full-blown synthetic heroes, they’re wired for greatness (and maybe feelings?).

🔮 THAUMATRIX - aka Mystics, Magicians, Sorcerers Magic is real, baby — and it’s chaotic. Whether it’s arcane study or cursed bloodlines, these Supers bend reality like it’s no big deal.

🎯VIRTREN - aka Elites, Specialists, Master No powers, just peak human ability and relentless training. Think Olympic-tier parkour, martial arts mastery, or unshakable precision. Absolute icons.

📝 Note: These classifications are used in official contexts — think scientific files, S.E.N.T.I.N.E.L. databases, and news reports. Most teens in Solara Bay don’t casually say “I’m an Exogen” at lunch. You’re more likely to hear:

“He must've been like.. absolutely super serum'd.” “She’s totally a techhead with zero chill.” “That kid’s magic or cursed or something, IDK.”

So yeah — the terms are formal. The vibes are whatever you and your homies decide.

The Build Our School poll concluded on May 9th, and I am so happy with the outcome! We get so excited to see people participate in helping us collaborate and do worldbuilding.

So now, the school our first era of Generation Nova players will be attending will be *drum roll please*🥁...

BEACON HIGH SCHOOL!

Beacon High School is a public school a few miles off the coast, sitting between the sun-bleached boardwalks of Pacific Marina and the rusted rooftops of Foundry Row. Typically known for its suspiciously generous funding and its totes authoritarian-bureaucratic principal, Victor Blackwell, there’s definitely something... extra going on behind those doors.

And now a quick word from the principal!

"I am Principal Victor Blackwell. As you walk these halls, remember that Beacon is more than a name—it is a standard. A beacon illuminates the path forward, yes, but it also holds steady in storms. Here, every student has a place, and every action has its consequence. You will be challenged. You will be measured. And if you conduct yourself with discipline, respect, and purpose, you will leave these doors ready to earn your place in the world. I expect excellence. I expect order. I expect you to rise to the occasion."

OMG Yes! I'd love to talk about Generation Nova 🥰

We are a currently in-development RP Server for teen/young adult superheroes with a focus on coming-of-age, self-discovery, and rebellion. Our story will be heavily inspired by superhero media, such as Teen Titans, X-Men Evolution, Young Justice, Sky High, etc., as well as Y2K teen films such 10 Things I Hate About You, Bring It On, Mean Girls, and more!

₊˚.ʚIt's fun, quirky, and totally nostalgic with that 90's-2000's retro-futurism vibe!ɞ₊˚.

As our players create their characters, and we start hosting sessions, we will be making more frequent posts (text posts, art, animatics, etc.) about the happenings in Solara Bay!

We are also working on allowing spectator roles for Generation Nova, where people can watch/listen/read our sessions, but we want to make sure the Server is set up in a way conducive to this goal.

And if all goes well, we may start allowing open applications 🤫👀

We are excited to start posting content for the RP server we run called Generation Nova — a coming-of-age story set in a retro-futuristic Y2K world about young Supers just trying to navigate saving the day and studying for that midterm.

While it currently is a private/invite-only server, our goal is to create content that invites everyone to experience and interact with the story — whether that’s helping with early worldbuilding, participating in events, or even influencing the game through polls and votes.

Our full RP storylines aren't expected to officially launch until July 2025, but in the meantime, we’ll be posting worldbuilding content, character teasers, polls, art, behind the scenes content, and more to help you get to know Generation Nova before it all kicks off!
