✨This is so important. Please share anywhere you want, I am unafraid of any type of negative backlash✨ I spent the entirety of yesterday (5am-11pm) crying in bed in what some call Spiritual Warfare. I couldn't stop the tears. I couldn't focus my thoughts. I couldn't work. I couldn't drive. I couldn't parent. When this happens to me, I can never, in the moment, pinpoint the trigger. I always know it's a warning sign that I am about to be exposed to something hugely problematic. This morning, after my meditation and shower, while I was getting ready, I found this video. Please, talk to your children and friends about this. I know this is happening in the Magic Valley, or I wouldn't have been so consumed with despondency yesterday. What can you do, you ask? I know, it's confusing and overwhelming. You can 1. make friendly with your neighbors, 2. attend City Council meetings on Monday at 5:30 at City Hall on Main Street 3. attend School Board meetings even if you don't have kids! Go to the schools near where you live so you know what the basic education agenda is for the littles in your particular neighborhood. PROTECT OUR CHILDREN! Do As I Do, Not As I Say Children are without debate the greatest gift we could receive from Creation. As expectant parents, the same thought courses through each of us at least once-"oh shit! Am I ready for this?" I could write a chapter or 2 regarding the title to this post, but I'll try and keep this short. My youngest son is having a REALLY hard time in school. He's very behind because of my choices to unschool him while we waited for the school we really wanted him in to have a place for him. It took two years. 4th grade and all F and one D-. Not his fault-my fault. I'll tell you why. I, as the eldest of five, got into a habit starting when my own mother went back to school when I was 11 of not doing my schoolwork. I needed to make sure the house was clean before she came home at 10-11 pm or risk an ass-whooping. Come high school, I was unable to take part in sports to distract myself and make friends and shit just got worse from then on. I love learning. I just wasn't in an environment conducive to studying. Now, as an adult, I'm witnessing myself distracting with phone games, television, "busy work" where I'm not really getting anything done. I've taught my son the same thing. He can't study independently, as it would be like putting me in front of a trigonometry test. We have no baseline to even start guessing. I will leave to work after his snack with instructions for him to "do what you can and I'll help you with the rest when I get home". But he doesn't. He gets on his phone, occulus, or just gets figurines and loses himself in his imagination. Since I'm almost done with "Breaking The Habit of Being Yourself" by Dr. Joe Dispenza, I am learning to objectively and blamelessly observe and vett these behaviours and let me tell you-none of them are making the cut. Finding a time for myself was hard once I became 🦋selfless. I had to go through a season of complete paralysis, not knowing if it was ok for me to put my 👦🏼son in the gym childcare to 💪🏽weight train. Or if I was allowed to insist he follow me on a run instead of taking him to go scootering at a park where I have to stand by, unmoving, to protect him from the riff-raff.⁣ ⁣ 🙏🏽But I had to remember the only one I answer to is God. She is perfect. She was created in the image of God and is a joy and blessing to all who know her. She is #MeishaAudrey and she is my granddaughter. She makes me laugh when she fake laughs and when she chats my ear off, she makes me sad when she won't cuddle me.
