so i’m in the process of potentially getting a service dog soon since i might be moving to a different country soon which is really stressful (a lot of “potentials” i know lol) so i haven’t been posting as much as usual, sorry :( but hopefully things get a little less hectic soon and i’ll be able to write more 💜
and maybe i’ll get used to everyone asking me “what do you need a service dog for, you’re perfectly fine?” every time i bring it up :’) it’s crazy that you have to explain to people that they aren’t entitled to your entire mental health history lol

Bedrest
With both Zhongli and Childe being incredibly busy people with very important business to conduct on a near-daily basis, it was extremely difficult to find a lengthy gap in either of their schedules to go on a vacation together. For a while, though (a few months, at least), Childe had been talking about his family back in Snezhnaya even more than usual. Even though he probably would never admit it, Zhongli could tell that the man was feeling especially homesick. After all, summers in Liyue couldn’t be farther from the climate in Snezhnaya.
It had come about as a passing remark from Childe one day about how much he loved ice fishing with his brothers, how he would teach Teucer to be a master fisherman like his big brother, how he would catch the biggest fish Zhongli had probably ever seen. Then, Zhongli offered to accompany him on one of these grand fishing trips if he were to ever visit Childe’s homeland. He could immediately see how his boyfriend’s eyes lit up at the suggestion and that’s how he knew they needed to take a trip to Snezhnaya at the earliest convenience.
Of course, the earliest convenience meant several months later. It was no longer summer in Liyue, with the leaves now turning lovely shades of red, orange, and brown and the temperatures gradually dropping more and more each night. With Zhongli still adjusting to life in a human form, proper precautions ahead of the changing weather simply went over his head.
For a few days leading up to the trip to Snezhnaya, it had been obvious that Zhongli was beginning to feel quite under the weather. It started with a sore and scratchy throat on the first day, a bit of sneezing on the second day, and a fever on the third day. And now, Zhongli is lying in bed with a cold compress on his forehead, a trash can full of crumpled-up tissues next to him, and a bowl of soup that was lovingly prepared for him by Childe that he regrettably has no desire to eat.
“Feeling any better?” Childe asks unconfidently, peeking his head through the door. He brought another box of tissues just in case, which seems to have been a wise decision because Zhongli is currently blowing his nose very productively into a tissue that looks far too crumpled to be new. He winced at the sound, noting how much worse the man has gotten over the course of a single day.
Zhongli throws the tissue into the trash can, adding yet another one to the ever-growing pile. “Not very,” he says, the congestion immediately evident in his voice. Childe can tell that his throat is faring just as badly as his sinuses, if the croaking sound of his words were anything to go by.
Maintaining a comfortable distance, Childe sits down on the bed next to his partner. “I thought as much,” he sighs in disappointment. “I guess we’re not in any position to travel to Snezhnaya now, are we?” he laughs mirthlessly.
It pains Zhongli to hear the disappointment in his voice. If anyone needed this vacation, it was Childe. For how hard he had been working along with how incredibly homesick he has been, Zhongli knows that Childe needs to see his family. But he just had to go and catch himself the worst cold he has ever experienced, putting a wrench in all of their plans.
“I’m sincerely sorry,” Zhongli says, looking at the bowl of soup growing cold in his lap. He can’t face Childe like this, not when he is responsible for simultaneously getting his hopes up and dashing them. “It was my carelessness that got us into this situation. I apologize for preventing you from seeing your family.”
As disappointed as he is, Childe can’t help but put all of that sadness aside when he sees the feelings of guilt and remorse in his boyfriend’s eyes. “Hey, don’t say that,” he chides, putting a hand on his shoulder. “There will always be another opportunity. And besides, if you hadn’t gotten sick now, you definitely would have in the Snezhnayan winter. It’s not for amateurs, that’s for sure!”
He looks over at Zhongli, expecting to see him chuckle or at least offer a small smile at the joke, but he instead sees that look on his face. That one, the one that means Zhongli is either concentrating extremely intensely or is battling with a stuck sneeze. Considering the current circumstances, he knows it’s likely the latter.
Zhongli’s sinuses have been practically buzzing all day. Compared to the insignificant runny nose he had only a few days prior, he can’t seem to catch a break now when it comes to his nose. He is either too congested to breathe, sneezing nearly every minute, or so drippy that he has to use up all of the tissues Childe has lovingly provided him. Today, it feels like a combination of all three at the same time. And now, he can feel another sneeze (or in this case, an entire fit is more likely) coming on.
He looks at the light to coax out the incessant tickle, a trick the traveler had taught him a while ago. It helps, because the tickle almost instantaneously rises to a crescendo and he barely thinks to hastily grab a handful of tissues before he pitches forward with several rough, throaty sneezes.
“hh’RSHuu! hn’gxkt! …hh’ESHiew!”
Childe winces at the sound, knowing those had to have hurt his throat. Zhongli doesn’t normally sneeze much at all, but when he does it typically comes in the form of a single, nearly-silent stifle. For Zhongli to be sneezing multiple times in a row and with that much intensity, Childe knows he must be really sick.
While Zhongli blows his nose once again, something that causes his cheeks to flush slightly at the embarrassing sound, Childe comments, “Wow, those sounded rough. Good thing I brought an extra box of tissues.” He looks at the bowl of soup that Zhongli had moved to the bedside table at some point, obviously not having enough of an appetite to try to eat it.
While he had been making the soup for Zhongli, Childe was reminded of all of the times he had prepared dishes for his family. He doesn’t consider himself the greatest cook, but he can definitely make a solid meal or two. A simple soup is nothing for him, especially one that’s light on the stomach and good for a cold. Of course, his favorite soups typically involve a variety of seafoods, but that would only tarnish Zhongli’s appetite even more.
“I don’t feel well,” Zhongli says, lying further down in the bed, all of his remaining energy seemingly sapped out of him. Childe frowns. The cold compress should have been helping, but it doesn’t seem to be doing much at the moment if the heat radiating from Zhongli’s body is anything to go by. The man tenses up and another sneeze wracks his frame, causing him to groan.
“I know,” Childe sympathizes. “But that’s all the more reason why we’re definitely not going to Snezhnaya. There’s no way being in the cold for that long will do you any good. Just focus on resting now and we can reschedule for another time. It’s not like my family isn’t used to waiting for me anyway.”
Zhongli feels even worse now that Childe uttered that cold, cold phrase. He knows that the man came from a place with little other than ice, but in times like these it becomes all the more apparent that that same ice is still encasing his heart. Even with all of the progress Zhongli has made in melting the ice consuming him, the majority still remains, hiding beneath Childe’s façade of a sunny demeanor. It is only when one looks close that they realize the bright white light emanating from Childe is not from the warmth of the sun but rather the cold ice beneath the surface.
“They shouldn’t have to wait any longer,” Zhongli insists. “They’ve waited long enough. I promise you, as soon as I recover from this wretched human illness, we will go to Snezhnaya to visit your family.”
Childe gets that glint in his eye again, that one that means he wants something. And knowing Childe, he’ll probably get it. “And we can go ice fishing?”
Zhongli sighs, but it comes out a bit like a wheeze instead. “Yes, we’ll go ice fishing. As long as I don’t have to eat whatever we catch, I’ll gladly go fishing with you for as long as you want.” Thinking about eating any kind of seafood just makes Zhongli feels ten times worse, so he lightly shakes his head to rid himself of the thought.
“Well, I know something that might cheer you up,” Childe says, getting up and retrieving something from the nightstand beside him. Zhongli wonders what he could be getting, since he’s basically given him everything he could possibly need to nurse his cold. Pillows, extra blankets, soup, tissues, Childe has made the entire bedroom into a makeshift sick bay. It’s a bit much, but Zhongli definitely appreciates the gesture.
He hands something over to the sick man, which he takes. It’s a small orb on a golden stand that Zhongli is almost certain he has never seen before. In fact, he’s never seen anything like it at all. When he shakes it, white specks float around the interior like snow. He’s so fascinated by it that he almost didn’t notice the two figures in the center of the orb, figures that resemble him and Childe. “What…is this?” he asks. He’s never seen anything like it before. Is it a Snezhnayan artifact?
“It’s a snow globe,” Childe explains, his voice becoming softer. “A lot of people collect them. My family does, too, so I thought it would be nice if you were in on our little family tradition. It took a lot of persuading to get Xingxi to make it custom for me, so you’d better like it. ‘Look at it to remind you of me,’ all that cheesy shit, you know the drill.”
Even beneath Childe’s rough exterior, Zhongli can tell how much thought and affection went into this gift. He allows himself to smile at the gesture, but the irritating sensation in his nose comes back with a vengeance at that very moment. “hh…hh’NGXT!” He’s able to stifle the sneeze between his fingers to avoid destroying the very gift Childe has just lovingly placed into his hands.
“Aaaand I’ll be putting that away now,” Childe says, taking the snow globe out of Zhongli’s hand, placing it on the nightstand beside him, replacing it with a fresh tissue. “Blow,” he demands. “You’re going to get congested again.”
Zhongli rolls his eyes in defiance, but follows Childe’s instructions nonetheless. The pressure in his sinuses has been steadily building up again, after all. He gently blows into the tissue, feeling relieved when that pressure alleviates slightly. When he looks up from the tissue, he sees Childe staring at him with an amused glint in his eyes. He has no idea what the man could possibly be thinking now. “Why are you staring at me like that?” he asks.
“I just love you,” Childe says, though his smile is less gentle and loving and more like a predator watching his prey.
“Even when I’m like this?” Zhongli asks with a hoarse chuckle, gesturing to the pile of used tissues in the wastebasket beside him.
“Especially when you’re like this,” Childe affirms.

hey guys! my ko-fi account is officially up and running, which means *drumroll please* commissions!
here are some guidelines and prices for commissions:
Prices:
$3 (ko-fi tip amount) = 300-500 word drabble
$10 = 1000-1500 word fic
$20 = 2000+ word fic
anything more than 2000 words is a negotiable price (just more than $20 ofc)
Guidelines:
i will write nsfw for commissions. i don’t normally write nsfw, so you can commission me if an nsfw fic is something you want!
i will write any genshin character (except minors) alone or in a platonic or romantic pairing.
i will write snz and emeto, other k!nks are negotiable
i will write oc characters upon request if provided enough detailed information about the characters.
so yeah that’s all for the technical stuff! please note that this won’t affect requests in any way so don’t worry that me having commissions open is going to delay requests—it won’t!
and now for the other fun part: wavs!
my youtube channel for wavs is violet lily! feel free to check me out there if you wanna hear me snz lol.
commission guidelines for wavs are as follows:
Wavs:

$15 = 5-10 minute character wav (anything longer than 10 minutes comes with a negotiable price of over $10). i’ll voice any (adult) female genshin or oc character with your requested scenario.
i think this pretty much covers everything! if you guys have any questions, feel free to ask! i’ll let you know right away once i receive your commission and i’ll give you an estimated date that you’ll receive your requested fic or wav. if i don’t fulfill your commission by 1 month past the estimated date, you’ll be given a full refund.
i’m so excited to have commissions open and i hope you guys decide to commission me! <3

Snalentine's 2022
Thoma sickfic 1.4k feat Ayato (relationship left up to interpretation)
This is for @genshiew Happy Snalentine's Day!
Thoma smiled brightly at his friend as he approached, bowing his head with a concealed sniffle. “Welcome home, Master Ayato!”
It had been a month since Ayato had been home. Thoma had spent all day getting the Kamisato Estate ready for him in preparation.
Ayato offered him a warm expression in response. “It’s good to be home.”
“Please, come in and get comfortable,” Thoma gestured to the door behind him, opening it in one swift motion. He was more excited than he wanted to admit that Ayato was home. He had missed him. “I’ve just put the tea – Hh’etSHHIEW! – Oh, excuse me!”
Sniffling behind his wrist, Thoma followed Ayato into their home and helped him with his things. His nose had been tickling like crazy all day, ever since he’d cleaned in Ayato’s bedroom. He didn’t have an issue with dust, usually, but with this cold that he’d been battling, it had been bothering him while he was cleaning.
He was also starting to feel a bit strangely at this point in the day, too hot but not in the same way that came from using his vision. That feeling was sort of fuzzy and comforting, this was making him more woozy. He had a feeling he may have been developing a fever.
He waited another moment for Ayato to settle in and then spoke. “Please let me know if you need anything, Master Ayato. I’m afraid I’m not feeling my best at the moment, and I’m going to lie down.”
Thoma went to excuse himself, but Ayato caught the edge of his jacket.
“Thoma, wait.”
He turned to look at him with a smile, albeit a bit nervously. He could feel a sneeze brewing and he didn’t want to have a fit in front of Ayato because he was pretty congested at the moment. It wouldn’t be pretty.
“Sit down here, with me.” Ayato patted the open space on the cushion beside him.
Thoma was quick to protest, waving his hands in front of himself. He wasn’t sure he could handle Ayato right now, all things considered. He was too tired to keep his guard up like he should.
“Oh, really, I–”
“Do you not want to sit with me, Thoma?” Ayato interrupted, and Thoma was pretty sure he was feigning the hurt in his voice, but he couldn’t be sure. Still, it worked on him.
“It’s not like that,” Thoma assured him, moving to sit down where Ayato had gestured. He pinched at his septum briefly to stave off the impending sneeze. His fingers came away wet and he wiped them on his pant leg. “I don’t want to be a bother. And – I think whatever I have is probably contagious.”
Ayato put an arm around him, putting an end to his protests. Thoma swallowed, feeling his heart start to beat harder in his chest. It picked up even more as Ayato reached a hand up and brushed his bangs back from his face.
Thoma shifted his gaze to focus across the room so he wouldn’t have to look into Ayato’s knowing eyes. This man had an effect on him like no other and he could already feel it starting to take hold. When he was gentle with him like this, Thoma wanted to melt into him.
Thoma’s vulnerable position was further compromised by the fact that he was going to sneeze any moment now, but he had to hold back a little longer. He couldn’t do it while Ayato was looking at him so intently.
Ayato pressed the back of his hand to Thoma’s forehead with a disapproving sound.
Thoma’s nose twitched. He needed to sniffle, but if he did, it was going to set off a sneeze. And if he didn’t, he was going to sneeze anyway. This was a dangerous situation.
“Just a moment…” he managed weakly, blinking sharply against the tickle in his nose and doing his best to turn away.
He breathed in a bit too sharply and it was all over.
“Heh…Hh’etcHHIEW! Heh’tsSHIEW!” Thoma exploded into his hands, keeping them tightly pressed over his face. He sniffled until he was sure that he could draw his hands away without looking a mess. He scrubbed at the underside of his nose with an index finger. Ayato had started to rub a soothing hand over his back.
“I’m alright, I’ve just been a bit— Heh — Hh’GsSHIEW!”
“Gosh, excuse me again!” exclaimed Thoma, sniffling thickly against his palms. “I‘ve been so sneezy today.
Ayato hummed in response, hand squeezing his shoulder.
“Really, I wasn’t this bad when I woke up,” Thoma continued, “but I started to dust a bit before you arrived and since my nose was already bothering me, well…”
He laughed as he explained himself, then yawned and leaned his head against Ayato.
“Now I’ve tired myself out and I’m just sleepy,” he explained with a whine, turning to itch his nose into Ayato’s shoulder.
“You feel warm,” Ayato remarked. He moved a hand to rest on Thoma’s head.
“That’s why I was gonna go to bed— Mmm, that feels nice —“
Ayato had started to scratch gently at Thoma’s scalp. He leaned into the sensation, closing his eyes. He felt he could fall asleep like this. He was just starting to drift off when—
“Hh’ITSHHIEW! ‘tShiEEW!” Thoma jerked forward, sneeze directed towards Ayato’s lap.
“‘scuse me, bless me,” Thoma sniffled in the aftermath, words slurred as he cozied up to Ayato again. Ayato’s hand, which had been stroking his hair, had stilled.
“Keep going,” Thoma told him, but suddenly he wasn’t feeling comfortable the way he had a moment ago. He was too hot now.
He yawned and sat up, tugging off his jacket and turning sideways, intending to lie his head down on Ayato’s lap, but just as he was putting it down, he was stopped.
“Wait a minute,” Ayato finally spoke, standing up and exiting the room. Thoma was annoyed he didn’t tell where he was going, but he was too sleepy to protest in any significant way.
He leaned back against the sofa and closed his eyes again. He should probably drink some tea and head to his actual bed, but he didn’t feel like getting up just yet. It would be okay if he took a nap here.
He sniffled and it irritated the residual itch in his nose. The feeling was building now. He sniffled again and nudged at his septum with one crooked knuckle, but it wasn't enough.
“Hhh…” Thoma opened watering eyes, squinting towards the bit of sunlight coming in from the window. The sudden light was enough to set him off.
“Hh’itchhiEW! Huh’eKSHIEEW!” The sneezes tumbled out of him uncovered towards his chest, desperate and wet.
Thoma groaned softly, swiping at the underside of his nose with his wrist and brushing water from the corners of his eyes. He didn’t mind sneezing usually – in fact he enjoyed a good sneeze – but he’d been doing it all day and his sinuses were starting to feel swollen.
Footsteps approached and Ayato appeared again in the doorway, quiet sympathy etched in his features.
“Heard you from down the hall,” he remarked, holding something in his hands as he sat down beside Thoma.
“Get that pitying look off your face,” Thoma grumbled, figuring out what Ayato had been holding as a cool compress was placed across his forehead. He was sure the expression was justified. He didn’t want to look at his reflection right now. He could only imagine how undone he looked – jacket discarded, cheeks flushed, nose pink. If this was anyone else he might try harder to compose himself.
Ayato declined to comment, but his features were still set in a display of sympathy. He patted his thigh and guided Thoma to lie his head down in his lap.
Thoma obliged, noting the pleasant addition of the cool cloth on his forehead. He closed his eyes, but his peace only lasted for a moment.
“Sorry, I– hh’TSHIIEW! Heh’ATSCHIEEW!” Thoma tried to warn Ayato as he aimed two harsh sneezes towards his stomach. His nose was close enough to brush up against his shirt.
“Been sneezing–” Thoma paused to sniffle – “all day,” he mumbled, itching the last irritation out of his nose against Ayato’s stomach. “Tired of it.”
“Go to sleep.” Ayato brushed a thumb over his cheek.
“Trying,” Thoma whined.
Ayato hummed noncommittally. “I’ll make you some tea when you wake up.”
Thoma fought against a smile and soon sleep took him.

Dandelions
happy snalentines everyone! this fic is for @mochi0chi0chi whose art i absolutely adore, i was so excited when i pulled your name! hope you enjoy this xiaoven windblume-themed allergy fic <3 hope everyone has a lovely valentine’s day!
~
The Lantern Rite festival came and went in what felt like the blink of an eye to Xiao. Having witnessed countless festivals over the years, albeit mainly from afar, they all begin to blend together no matter how unique the citizens of Liyue attempt to make the occasion. Though he was not as much of an active participant in the festival as he had been the previous year, this year’s Lantern Rite proved just as enjoyable as the ones of the past.
Now, Xiao is being harassed persuaded by Venti into visiting Mondstadt for the Windblume festival. “It only happens once a year!” he had said, to which Xiao bluntly pointed out that, yes, that is typically how festivals operate. But alas, he can’t put up much of a protest for very long when it comes to Venti. And besides, Windblume is supposed to be a festival to honor Lord Barbatos. It would be quite disrespectful if Xiao turned down a direct invitation from the Archon himself.
Though, if Xiao is being honest, he probably would have accepted the invitation even without Venti’s status behind it.
“What kind of a festival is it, exactly?” Xiao had asked after having accepted the invitation. Despite agreeing to accompany his partner to the festival, he was regretfully uninformed about the traditional activities concerning the event. Liyue and Mondstadt are two greatly different nations, each with its own extensive culture and history, and it would only be natural for the nations to have different festival customs as well.
Venti pondered this question as though it was the first time he had ever been asked such an inquiry. “Well, it’s many things,” he began. “It has a long history that many now seem to have forgotten, but that doesn’t make it any less special. These days, it seems like many choose to celebrate love, whether it be love for their partners, their Archons, or their friendships. It’s quite a fitting theme for us, don’t you think?”
The blush that crept its way onto Xiao’s cheeks did not go unnoticed by Venti.
The moment he stepped foot into Mondstadt, Xiao was greeted with a much more lively scene than usual. The townsfolk were running around busily but excitedly, going to hang up banners, talk to their friends and neighbors, and help get the town ready for the big day. Of course, it already looked very festive to Xiao, with the many flower petals lining the streets along with the buds adorning each salesperson’s booth and stall.
He can’t help but smile at the scene. He knows this is exactly what Venti loves in a celebration—bright smiles throughout the city, jovial songs being sung by the people, a spirit of celebration in the air, and of course the limited-edition wine at the Angel’s Share. It’s the thought of his smiling boyfriend that allows him to put aside the suspicious tickle in his nose for a moment.
“Xiao!” he hears a cheery voice call from the direction of the very bar aforementioned. “Hey, you made it!” Venti runs over to him, a huge smile on his face. Of course, Venti is a normally cheery guy, but he looks even happier than usual today. The reason behind it isn’t exactly a mystery either. “I’m surprised you actually came. Thought you might make up some excuse to ditch at the last second.”
Xiao rolls his eyes. “You know I wouldn’t do something like that,” he mutters. “I know how important today is to you.” He looks down at the ground, unable to meet Venti’s gaze when his cheeks are so obviously flushed. The statement is true, though; he wouldn’t miss today for the world. Even if that means having to put up with some of Mondstadt’s more…peculiar personalities. Though, to be fair, Liyue definitely has its fair share of those as well.
“Aww, you’re such a softie!” Venti chuckles, placing a hand on Xiao’s back as he guides him in the direction of the bar. “Anyway, let’s head over to the Angel’s Share now. You’ve got to try this wine. I know I always talk about different wines, but this one is seriously the best. Diluc’s really outdone himself this time.” He sighs, a wistful look in his eyes. “It’s almost like this festival gets better and better every year.” Xiao can’t help but agree. After all, that’s exactly how the Lantern Rite festival has felt in recent years. Though, maybe the feeling can be attributed to the companions he’s made recently, Venti being one of many.
On the way to the Angel’s Share, Xiao’s nose begins to itch again. He wipes at it briefly and gives a short sniffle, which seems to go unnoticed by Venti. He attempts to put the feeling aside once they reach the tavern, Venti greeting Diluc (and the rest of the patrons with how loud his greeting is) with a loud announcement. Xiao doesn’t exactly love the feeling of everyone’s eyes on him, though he knows they’re mainly looking at Venti.
“Diluc, my friend! How goes business on this fine Windblume day? Pretty well, I imagine! Anyway, two bottles of Applebloom Cider, if you may.” Even Diluc looks cheerier than usual today, which comes as a surprise to Xiao. The bartender isn’t the warmest Monstadt citizen when it comes to strangers, so seeing him in such a good mood really shows Xiao just how festive this day is.
Once they receive the bottles of the wine Venti loves so much, he leads them upstairs to a table in the far corner of the tavern where little to no eyes are on them. Xiao wonders if this is because of Venti’s consideration for him or just because he wants to make it a private celebration between him and Xiao.
Venti pours some wine into a tall glass for Xiao and urges him to try it. Xiao isn’t much of a wine person, but he decides to humor the bard just this once. “It’s not bad,” he says after taking a small sip. It isn’t exactly high praise, but for Xiao to be willing to even try the drink is a huge gesture. Venti seems to understand the sentiment behind this, and he gives a huge grin that makes Xiao’s heart flutter.
“Anyway, I’m sure you know what the main festivity of today is,” Venti says, reaching over to the adjacent table and sliding something out from underneath it. This must have been preplanned, Xiao realizes, and Diluc was probably in on it as well. That’s why the bartender made no fuss when Venti immediately took the man upstairs; he probably already knew what the enigmatic bard was planning.
“It’s tradition for Mondstadt citizens to offer a Windblume to someone special to them,” Venti says, suddenly seeming more serious in his countenance. “What is a Windblume exactly? Well, the original flower isn’t known, so everyone just chooses a flower that they or their partner like and declare that their Windblume. This year, I’ve decided that it’s a dandelion!”
When Xiao doesn’t say anything, just looks at him with an unreadable expression, Venti pouts slightly. “Hey, don’t look at me like that! I know it’s sort of basic, but dandelions are significant to Mondstadt. And me, of course. So, Xiao, that’s why I’m presenting you with a bouquet of dandelions. It represents everything about me and Mondstadt, so I hope you like it.”
Xiao takes the bouquet and opens his mouth to say something, but his breath merely hitches instead. Venti almost thinks he’s been moved to tears, but Xiao simply pitches forward with a flurry of sneezes, barely managing to move the bouquet out of the way beforehand.
“hh’kshht! eh’ksht! h’ksh–‘shiew! huhh…hi’hkshiu!”
The sneezes blew out of him so quickly that Venti almost thought he accidentally summoned a gust of wind. Once Xiao’s fit seems to have subsided, Venti offers him a handkerchief, which Xiao takes with a congested “tha’gk you” before blowing his nose discreetly.
Venti frowns, knowing that it isn’t normal for Xiao to have such a drawn-out fit like that. “Have you caught a cold?” he asks, already having jumped to a conclusion. “You really should have told me that you weren’t feeling well!” he scolds. “If I had known, I wouldn’t have dragged you all the way here. Seriously, you need to take better care of your health…”
Xiao can’t even bring himself to listen to Venti’s ranting because he already feels another tickle deep in his sinuses. It seems that making the decision to blow his nose only made the sensation worse. “Venti, I—”
Whatever he was going to say falls on deaf ears, both because Venti is still too far into his rant to listen and because Xiao can feel himself about to descend into another itchy fit. He barely manages to lift the handkerchief to his face before sneezing once, twice, two more times before Venti finally stops talking and looks at him.
“Blessings,” Venti says, looking increasingly worried as he places a gentle hand on the adeptus’s back. “Xiao, you really should have told me sooner that you aren’t feeling well. We could have rescheduled, you know. Windblume isn’t a one-day festival, after all. There’s plenty of time for festivities!”
“It’s n’dot that,” Xiao says, wiping his watery eyes. Great, now his eyes have started to itch as well. It’s like his entire face is becoming itchier by the second. “I’ve been so sniffly ever since I arrived in Mondstadt, I was fine before, though.”
Something shifts in Venti’s face. Instead of looking concerned, he seems almost…humored? Xiao can’t imagine why. He stifles yet another sneeze and Venti bursts into laughter. Xiao frowns. “What’s so funny?” he asks, sniffling into the handkerchief. There’s nothing funny about the situation as far as Xiao is concerned. His nose won’t stop running and he can’t stop sneezing no matter how much he blows his nose. He can’t imagine why Venti would be laughing now, unless he really is such a sight to look at.
“Oh, Archons, Xiao!” Venti laughs, his hand still placed on Xiao’s back, though this time it’s to support himself in his deep laughter. “You aren’t sick, you’re allergic to dandelions!”
Xiao blinks. He’s…what? Well, to be fair, he hasn’t spent much time around the flora of Mondstadt, but to be so allergic to a little flower? He can’t imagine that. Sure, there are a few flowers in the Liyue region that make him a bit sniffly if he’s around them for too long, but he’s never had a reaction like this.
Apparently, Venti can read his confused expression because he explains further, “Think about it—you were sort of sniffly all day during the festival, but it was my bouquet that set off your allergies!” At the very mention of the bouquet, Xiao sneezes again. “hh’ihkshiew!”
“Bless you,” Venti says again, then he sighs, eyes suddenly downcast. “Man, I really messed up with this gift, huh? Sorry I didnt get you something more, you know, hypoallergenic.”
“It’s fi’de,” Xiao says, sniffling. “They’re really pretty.”
That seems to make Venti smile again. “You’re a real silly guy, you know that? I just gave you flowers that made you have an allergy attack and you’re saying you like them. This is why I love you.”
Xiao smiles, his cheeks flushing furiously.
