“Why are fanfictions always so much better written than canon??”

Because they’re catered to you and your ideas of what the characters, story, etc. should be, which doesn’t always line up with canon.

It��s not a matter of which one is objectively better, but of audience. 

Fanfiction is made for fans by fans with copious amounts of fanon concepts made to appeal to, well, the fandom. This is not inherently bad, and obviously the amount of fanons and which ones will vary from fic to fic, but given that the quote above generally only applies to fics the poster likes…yeah. That fic is written specifically for you and the people who agree with you. Again, not inherently a bad thing.

BUT that is not the case for canon. Canon is not written for the fandom; the fandom can’t form until after the canon exists. How that fandom changes as different people come and go as they decide they do or don’t like the directions canon takes is another story, but nonetheless unlike fanfiction it is not written to cater to fanon concepts and preferences. And “not catering to fanon” is not synonymous with “bad writing”.

Now that said, yes there are obviously fanfics out there that are objectively very well-written and creative, and yes there is canon material out there for whatever book/movie/tv show/etc that objectively isn’t so great.

But most of the time, your perception of fanfics is better because they’re tailored to your biases. Not because they’re objectively better-written.

Again, there’s nothing inherently wrong with that–it’s completely normal to prefer/enjoy things that fit your opinions/headcanons–but maybe step back and consider that a moment before you go and bash the creators of your favorite book/movie/show for not following the same plot of your favorite fic.

COVID is slowly becoming a "third world" disease. While first world countries are hoarding vaccines, having doses for populations many times their size, third world countries can't get any because pharma companies want to sell to the first world countries first. Even then, first world countries will receive them first. While rich countries recover from COVID, they will forget about the pandemic while many other countries live the absolute worst moment of the pandemic without being able to vaccinate their population.

chrome extensions for disabilities masterpost

I have seen a lot of posts on here talking about individual extensions for chrome to help people, but I haven’t seen a place where they’re compiled together. So here you are! font/text

no caps - Makes everything lower case

Open Dyslexic: changes the font to Open Dyslexic and makes it larger. Personal favourite.

Dyslexie: changes the font to dyslexie and allows change to font size and colour (blue). Can be turned off. (Doesn’t seem to work on facebook)

Font Changer: Allows you to change the font on specific website or on everything using a Google Font. I believe you can also upload your own, if there’s a specific font you need.

BeeLine Reader: Uses a gradient so your eye follows along one line to the next

Color Overlay - Irlen Filter for Chromebook: Puts a coloured overlay over the screen. can choose colour and opacity. 

Sunglasses: Tints the screen grey to reduce contrast

Desaturate: Removes all colour and makes everything a greyscale

Deluminate: Similar to High Contrast, but tries to keep photos in tact

I ask too many questions because I want to know you. I want to know everything about you. I listen because I care. But my advice is just quotes because that’s what I read all the time. I have the basic application skills to tell you the right ones with a touch of empathy. I accurately calculate because I have my constant accounts open in my head and if they don’t balance, I get restless. I don’t know about business, this seems like some sort of ocd to me. I speak passionately, not aggressively. I speak on emotions, not world affairs. I grew up, my skills didn’t is what I want to say to my friend who is now is design school and claims to have been inspired by me. No one ever told me that I should be a writer but here I am. No one ever told me to be a kind person.
