I think they should've created an OnlyFans account for Professor. It would unironically made them so much money.

It’s so sad that the ghoul boys died on a ghost hunt, from ghosts
And that’s why they won’t post YouTube videos anymore, because they are dead, from ghost hunting ):

"Omg y'all are babies who don't realize that they need to make money and just feel entitled to free art!"
First of all I think most Watcher fans will agree that nobody asked for "TV quality" content. In fact I personally find most of their new shows to be extremely overproduced compared to their Buzzfeed era videos, which were backed by an actual big company. So them blowing their budget on new staff and fancy sets is something few people asked for.
"But this is their art and their company and they're allowed to make it however they want, they can't just constantly make their old stuff to retain an audience!"
I mean, yeah, if this is what they want to keep making, more power to them! But people are not obligated to 1) enjoy it and 2) pay for it. Audiences will fluctuate. Look at the Try Guys and how much their stuff has changed while still being successful. So maybe they'll get a new audience that is willing to pay for the stuff they want to make. But it's perfectly understandable for a large portion of their old fans to leave. Cuz yeah. If you wanna say "um this is capitalism sweaty" then yeah, I'll agree with you. This is capitalism. And I have better things to spend money on. I am not entitled to their art, and they are not entitled to my money. If they stop making stuff I like and have access to, I will stop watching. Taste closed.

I wonder if I'm overestimating how many subscribers it would take to make the subscription service profitable and avoid complete bankruptcy or if they're overestimating how many people will end up subscribing to it. one of us is wrong and I really hope it's me for their sake.

Watcher moving all of their content going forward to a paid streaming service for JUST their own content and not posting on youtube anymore? Pitching that idea to a mostly young viewer base who dont want to/cant pay for an extra streaming service? ohhhh they're so cooked

the problem is not “how dare watcher want to make more money” because yes obviously it takes a lot of money to make quality content and creatives deserve to get paid
the problem is the way they are going about it now. removing previously free content that your fans have been loyally supporting for years and moving all new and old videos to your own exclusive website that you have to pay a separate subscription for now, it’s not going to work

I have followed the Watcher boys since the early days of their career. I remember watching BFU when Brent was still the straight man. I've watched their careers grow, and in turn, I've grown with them. I liveposted to so many of their shows and premieres, been an active part of their fan base for years.
I am so incredibly disappointed with their decision. In what world is this the best way to move forward for anyone but you? I fully understand the fact that they want to make money doing what they have complete control over, I really do. But that comes with the caveat of targeting their activities to an audience with deep pockets. You want to make money off your content? Find your niche, assess what they are, and go from there. If your stuff gets attention from people with deep pockets, great!
But Watcher's niche is absolutely not that. A lot of us are young and not financially well off. I'm sure many of us that are able to access the content (those of you in America cough cough) are reliant on support just to get by. There aren't a lot of us with the ability to pay-to-play.
The launch of this website gives the Watcher boys much more freedom to do what they want. But in turn, it has taken away that content from so many who have enjoyed it, myself included. It saddens me that this is the choice they decided to make; less eyes for more money.
