speaking of unusual deaths, i do think that the 'voice' that speaks through spamton is Dess. the unused text in chapter 2 is presumably the full thing. Gaster definitely would not write that, the way its written is completely different from the detached and factual way Gaster writes, but we didnt have anyone else as a suspect. Now that we have the (mostly) full context of the prophecy and the fact that it cannot be broken, it is possible that its Dess.

was Dess ever confirmed to be a monster? i was watching a stream and the part about the prophecy always appearing somewhere else even if its destroyed, got me to think about the 'your choices dont matter' thing and the streamer brought up a really interesting theory. The prophecy mentions a human, a monster, and a prince from the dark. December Holiday went missing, Asriel is off at college, and as far as we know, the only Prince is Ralsei. by technicality, December can fit the human part if she IS human. The prophecy 'broke' the first time around when Dess disappeared.

the streamer i was watching thought that Asriel, Dess and likely Ralsei (since i dont think we really have anyone else that fits the 'Prince from the Dark' part, apart from maybe Lancer) were supposed to be the Heroes mentioned in the prophecy, but were swapped out for Susie and Kris when Dess disappeared. the prophecy always appears somewhere else.

Of course, Dess dying is its own thing, which i have my suspicions on how it happened. i do think that her soul is somehow with the Knight cuz when they 'roar' the 'light' emitted was signified by the color red. The color red has only ever been associated with the SOUL in this franchise, and if Dess is human, its not too far out of the realm of possibility that her SOUL is red too.

ok im gonna try to commit to writing that singer Dante fic but im gonna try to hash out the details first. spoilers for every canto btw

- Dante doesn't even really think about music until the sinners reach the J Corp casino, where they hear some random jazz song, briefly catching their attention before they get distracted by the machines and continues as canon

- Dante only heard brief snippets of that song so they repeat those bits in their head, not quite singing yet.

- Dante CAN hear the Mili song in each Canto, but it sounds like it's coming from another room. You know the muffled version that plays when you have to make a choice? thats what Dante hears.

- of course, when Ishmael starts getting neurotic in the Boatworks, they stop focusing on music just cause they are stressed tf out trying to figure out how to help

- Dante only hears it properly when the sinners manage to fully manifest their EGO temporarily (ex. Yi Sang manifesting that room, Ishmael manifesting an entire ocean and that skiff). Dante does not hear Between Two Worlds properly. Dante manages to hear a good chunk of Through Patches of Violet, but only 'Heathcliff's' parts. Dante never gets to hear Cathy's part, until she messages them on their pad, but even then its under that 'other room' filter

- If i'm remembering correctly, Dante got their pad around IV? so after IV, Dante starts really getting into music by then

- the sinners find out about Dante's singing voice during one of their one-on-one Sinner counseling, they kinda just hum to themself for a bit, but Don Quixote brings attention to it the next day. Dante is briefly embarrassed but really wants to get into music for the sinners sake

- (unrelated but i feel like dante was a massive people pleaser back in the earlier cantos especially, which is why im having them pursue this heavily in this fic)

- continues as canon until they're heading to T Corp. the sinners are bored as hell on the Great Lake. Dante learns sea shanties from Outis and Ishmael but very much learns that songs meant to help with coordinating manual labor dont really entertain people who are kinda just sitting around, besides giving them an annoying earworm

- this continues as canon until the end of canto vi, where after resonating with the golden boughs to delete every cathy, dante can now access the internets of other mirror worlds via their pad, which would definitely give me the excuse of them singing Epic the Musical to give Outis a heart attack
