Having visited Neuschwanstein Castle, I can confidently state Ludwig II of Bavaria would have fit right in on Tumblr .

-He was gay

-He had a female bff he liked to communicate with via letters left in a cupboard (basically texting)

-He may have had a relationship with an actor

-He was a Richard Wagner superfan, decorated his castle with fan art of the operas, and had a grotto set from Tannhäuser built adjacent to his bedroom (that post would get him a lot of engagement)

-He was said to be very shy and preferred to be alone most of the time

-In later life, he liked to sleep during the day and stay awake all night

Truly, a man born before his time.

Today's my last day at a job I've had for a long time, and my teenager is stressing me, and next week I'm taking a huge trip with her and my younger kid from Montreal to Switzerland. So naturally, I had a night of intricate dreams about season three of Interview with the Vampire.

online communities are so strange because people slip away so easily. you can be on here for years, folding people you've never met into the fabric of your daily life, and then they disappear, leaving only ghost posts scattered across tumblr behind. or their blog stays dormant, for weeks, months, years, until you're only still following them because you remember that they love sunflowers or they were kind to you when they didn't have to be or the last thing they posted was sad and raw and you still worry about them sometimes.

and sometimes they come back when you least expect it, years later, even, and there's this sudden rush of relief like there you are, there you are, even though you barely knew each other.

there's a strange kind of love to it. i don't know you and i want to hold your hand across miles and time zones and oceans. i can still see the imprint of you in this community you left. you don't anyone will notice or care when you're gone, but we notice and we care and we wish you well.

i hope you're all okay out there. i hope the sun is shining on your face and you are breathing deeply. i miss you.

hi, a lot of you need a perspective reset

the average human lifespan globally is 70+ years

taking the threshold of adulthood as 18, you are likely to spend at least 52 years as a fully grown adult

at the age of 30 you have lived less than one quarter of your adult life (12/52 years)

'middle age' is typically considered to be between 45-65

it is extremely common to switch careers, start new relationships, emigrate, go to college for the first or second time, or make other life-changing decisions in middle age

it's wild that I even have to spell it out, but older adults (60+) still have social lives and hobbies and interests.

you can still date when you get old. you can still fuck. you can still learn new skills, fashionable, be competitive. you can still gossip, you can still travel, you can still read. you can still transition. you can still come out.

young doesn't mean peaked. you're inexperienced in your 20s! you're still learning and practicing! you're developing social skills and muscle memory that will last decades!

there are a million things to do in the world, and they don't vanish overnight because an imaginary number gets too big
