My Love For Ceramics
My senior year, I had 21 credits I needed to fulfill, and I was able to choose what I wanted to take. One of the classes available was ceramics, and I was nervous to take it but excited at the same time. It was a struggle for the first few weeks, but I eventually got the hang of being able to throw bowls, cups, vases and a few others. Even though I am still a beginner at the end of the semester, it inspired me to continue with ceramics as a hobby/side job even after the class.
I purchased my own pottery wheel on Amazon to be able to practice and advance. I feel like pottery is very mesmerizing as well as calming at the same time. Even though none of my pieces are perfect, I am learning, and the satisfaction and happiness that comes from each piece is why I choose to continue with it.

Newly Found Love For The Arts
I always loved art, but I was never really great at it. I have a whole room dedicated to it. It is filled with lots of supplies such as paints/brushes, canvases, markers, coloring pencils, a pottery wheel, and much more. I was able to take classes at Marywood that helped me improve on the arts, and I can see the huge progress that was made over time. Some examples are painting, drawing, printmaking and music.

Painting is one of my favorite mediums to work with. My favorite is acrylic, although I also work with oil paints, watercolor, and gauche. Even though I only ever took a drawing class that included a little bit of painting, I find it to be one of the most satisfying hobbies of mine. And since I took those drawing classes, in turn it will lead to my paintings in the future to significantly improve.
I am also currently trying to create a style of painting for myself, so when you look at a painting of mine, you could tell who made it. This line is currently not finished, but it is one I am working on called “Sea Yourself Grow.”

My Love For Music
I found my love for music when I got my first CD, which was American Idiot by Greenday. I had no idea who they were, but since it was given to me as a gift I figured I would listen to it, and I fell in love! My favorite genres from there on out were mostly rock, alternative, and metal.
In sophomore year of high school, I decided to take drum lessons for the remainder of my time at Scranton Prep. I got my first drum set around this time as well, which I painted purple and added black splatters to, to make it look cool.
I started a band with my friends Jordan and Savannah, which did not really go that far, but was a really great and fun experience. My friend Parker and I decided to make our own band called For The Relentless, and they played the guitar and sang while I was on the drums. Again, we did not do much with our band as far as playing out at shows, but we did write an EP and gained the experience of that.
The only thing that I wish I had more knowledge of at the time was how to record music. Now that I am a senior and my friend is in the workforce, they would like to bring back our old band and try to give it a revival. I am looking forward to that!

My love for photography and travel (Continued...)
These are photos I took in 2015 and 2016, when I just purchased my first Android phone. I thought it had the best camera quality ever, and this is when my love and creativity for photography really took off.

Travel :
I found my love for travel when I first went to Italy in my senior year of high school. I always enjoyed going on little trips to New York or New Jersey, but my love really took off when I chose to travel abroad. Once I got my drivers license and was able to travel freely, it also helped me tremendously.
If I was ever able to get paid to travel and review places, or even photograph bands at concerts and festivals, it would be a dream come true.

My Love For Photography and Travel
When I got my first iPod with a camera, I instantly knew that I enjoyed photography. I took photos of the nature and buildings that surrounded me, and even short clips from walks or car rides I was on. As I grew up, my phone’s camera quality grew better, but it was never of professional camera quality. Once I started using more professional cameras at school, I became really interested in them. I invested in my own Canon and used what class taught me to improve tremendously.
Traveling was something that I have always wanted to do, even as a career choice. I never went to many places outside of the United States besides Italy, which was the best experience of my life. I have traveled a few places in the United States, I have just not traveled to many states. This was a time where I really should have focused on my photography a little more, but if I ever get the opportunity to travel abroad again, at least now I will have a proper camera and better knowledge to hopefully catch some mesmerizing photos.
I have an Instagram page dedicated to my travels. My first one was sadly hacked, but I made a second one, and started off where I left off on the previous. My name is @ginarose_travelsx2 on Instagram if you would like to view some of my photos from my travels. The next post will show photos that I have taken over the years that really sparked my love for both.

What Marywood Has Taught Me
As a college freshman I came to Marywood unsure of what I wanted to do, and I can say I am leaving on solid ground. Without going here, I honestly do not know where I would be. I was undecided for the first two years, so I was able to get most of my gen-eds out of the way. I chose the Communication Department after my best friend told me that it was something I would definitely like. After I met with my new advisor, we decided that Advertising and Public Relations was right for me.
I took PR classes which, allowed us to work with non-profit organizations and I really enjoyed it. We learned how to build a non-profit called Heartshine, and worked with them on things from branding to policies and procedures. I was also able to take classes that were not in my major, which broadened my horizons as well as helping me on my journey to find my passion. I took art history, ceramics, drawing and etching classes that I fell in love with... At the end of my four years, I learned that I do not just want to work in one specific job type, but I want to start with a set job and incorporate my love for the arts and my major into different side jobs and opportunities.
Until I joined TV Marywood, I did not think of anchoring as a career choice at all, but I grew to really enjoy it and can see that as a potential job in the future. We met three days each week, and it really taught me how to write, edit and read my own scripts. It also showed me how to talk and dress professionally, as well as teaching me the technical side of it.
After these four years, I can not believe how quickly they flew by. From the much dreaded freshman orientation that turned out to be really great memories, to walking the stage to get my diploma, I loved every minute of it. Thank you Marywood, my teachers, staff, and all of my classmates, I love you all.
