I've been feeling really sick for the past week, and I realised while trying to study, how disorganised I am. give me a day please, I just need to sort some things out at home, my academic life AND my social life. things are a hot mess rn. 💀

22nd Oct || Day 1 of 100 days of code/productivity
Tumblr media
today I created a general plan for what I want to accomplish over the next couple months in terms of learning to code. I had a Codeacademy subscription that I had totally forgotten about so I logged in and enrolled into the Learn C Skill Path course - which teaches you the fundamentals of C programming. I chose this course because my university prefers to teach their intro to programming course in C (all Computer Science students _must_ take this course as a prerequisite in order to progress to harder courses that will only build up on the knowledge acquired in here). I've heard it's pretty daunting for a beginner to learn programming in C so let's see how it goes. Just because I've heard scary things does not necessarily mean I should quit so soon. I'm no less than the nerdy guy in class who developed a game at the age of 11 or something, haha.
The course seems to be very beginner-friendly, indeed. and the code environment as well as the terminal are integrated into the website so that we can practice as we learn, so that's good. I'm liking it so far!
The first lesson included the basics of C - everything from:
ensuring you have the correct syntax written down so that the code is able to compile
escape sequences (\n -> add new line and \t -> add new tab)
line comments and block comments that are used to document code as you go
I also learnt how to compile a C program using gcc, yay!
that's it for today, it is now nearly 5:30 am as we speak, and I was not able to get any work done all day because we have a religious festival going on from now through this upcoming month, so needless to say I'll be busy helping my family with preparations. but I really hope to commit to learning how to code for at least 2-3 hours every day, as it would make a massive difference. g'night besties! <3

introductory post (◍•ᴗ•◍)✧*
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Hellooo <3 I've been on Tumblr for a few years now, however, lately I have become a bit of a slacker in terms of my student and professional life and a lot of y'all have inspired me to get a studyblr + accountability blog to help keep myself in check, focused and driven
🌻 about me ♡
name: tofu
age: 23
pronouns: she/her
zodiac: ⊙ aries, ☽ scorpio, ↑ scorpio
languages I speak: english, hindi, japanese (beginner)
🌻 my favourite subjects ♡
- academic: chemistry, cybersecurity, creative writing, biology, personal finance, physics, discrete math, intro to programming (the easiest part about a cs degree yet daunting)
- non-academic: cosmetic science, psychology, literature, ancient/modern history, physics, astronomy, linguistics
I'm trying to once again pick up hobbies that I used to have as a child, such as reading, singing, gardening, cooking/baking, scrapbooking
In my free time, I love watching asian soap operas, Studio Ghibli, and sitcoms that I'd like to call my comfort shows and video essays related to all my non-academic subject interests
I'm an undergrad student currently enrolled in a computer science/fintech double major and I'm preparing either to enter the workforce or pursue a masters in either quantitative finance or bioinformatics engineering or data science (wow, the existential crisis that came with typing up that sentence). I could also talk more about my interests in the above-mentioned subject areas, or new ones as they come up. My goal is to create a routine for myself that I can actually stick to, and spend each day having learnt at least something, no matter how small. I feel like the only way to achieve that is by comparing myself to my peers (I know that is v toxic but hey it helps). Additionally I really want to learn how to drive this year, learn to crochet and keep up with new technologies, do some art journalling to take my mind off stress.
I'm so excited to meet new people on here and keep myself busy and productive! ❤️
