my updated ✨ organizing ✨ system 2024
in my recent blog posts, I had been using consistently notion and paper journal to keep my life organized. however, as I had mentioned, in surgery we don't have a day off. so I'm always in the hospital, and journaling on paper makes me so conscious even when I hide in ENT (lol) to have some alone time and reflect for 10-15 minutes every other day or so. writing things down in my muji journal became difficult as well because I'm always on the go -- on the way to OR, on the way to fetch a resident's thing, and so on and so on. what I'm consistent though is being on my phone. organizing things on my phone / ipad / laptop. so! I want to make a Big change. I want to transfer to an app that would help me organize my weekly to-dos, where I can track my journal and goals at the same time, where I can write by hand if I felt like writing, and where I can make endless columns (the last two being limited in notion interface). I first went to google docs but I didn't like it. I mostly use google docs / sheets, etc for groupworks. I wanted something personal, something only I can access peacefully, with a personal touch that is very flexible and customizable. and so I thought of onenote!
I had been using it since I started clerkship but was never consistent. I was more familiar with the aesthetics of notion and would always resort back to paper planning because of familiarity and I like notebooks so much. but, as I said, my system is not working anymore on straight duties with no off. in april, I would also be rooming with my friends/classmates for a month since we are on outside rotation and I am worried that I wouldn't be able to journal much because I would be shy to journal on paper in front of my friends. they have always known me as someone who likes to reflect, but even just the thought of it just makes me so conscious.
and here I am making a Big change. hoping to be consistent.

listen to yourself and watch your language. instead of saying “sorry for ranting”, say “thank you for listening to me”. instead of saying “sorry that i am overemotional”, say “thank you for trying to understand something difficult”. instead of saying “sorry if i am a burden”, say “thank you for the time and energy you invest in our friendship”. good things will come when you realize you are not an apology.

I started using Head and Shoulders ten years ago for itchy scalp and dandruff, and then for ten years I have not had itchy scalp and dandruff, so I thought "why do I still buy shampoo to combat itchy scalp and dandruff when I do not have itchy scalp and dandruff," so I stopped buying the shampoo for itchy scalp and dandruff and can you guess I have now? Can you predict what currently afflicts me? It's alright if you can't because apparently I fuckin couldn't either

got home at 4pm yesterday, slept until 8:30pm so i had really late dinner, and started studying at 9
we have neuroanatomy practicals tomorrow, and i can't study well if i don't study / make my own notes
classes start at 1pm tomorrow so will probably sleep at 4am and wake up at around 7 to do a bit of yoga and study again
not ideal for me to have just 3 hours of sleep but i really wanna do well in this exam since it's the last few months of the 2nd semester
