My wanting to give Macaque a kid/baby can be divided into 2 reasons

1) macaque feeling a sense of isolation, having lost his family and home, and also a sense of hopelessness and possible fear of creating new connections for fear of it happening again. He could very easily fall to depression and further isolate himself. Him having a child would force him to never be alone and, having been abandoned himself, he would not simply abandon them. So in this reason, it would be beneficial to him in a similar instance someone with depression gets a dog, just to give them a reason to get out of bed. I also believe he would be a good parent and do anything and everything for his kid. He would love them unconditionally and he would benefit on finally receiving unconditional love in turn

2) every time I’m in a difficult situation or something bad happens to me, my first thought is “god this would be so much worse if I was pregnant or had a kid” and i thrive off giving this monkey angst.

Ima dub the au of the single dad au I had as single dad sqr

Sorry for the long post. Wanted to put this all down before I forget

In the original au, baby bai he want born yet. In the single dad ² au, bai he was born when born when Wukong was under the mountain and macaque fled ffm with her when the place was set on fire. He was still powerless when the fire happened so the other monkeys told macaque to run and save himself and the baby, and this adds to Wukong resentment towards macaque. Wukong didn’t hear about the baby, and just knows macaque ran and saved himself which resulted in a lot of monkeys dying.

Demons age slowly, so she’s about 7 human years when the battle of her parents happen

The battle between Mac and Swk still happen cause Mac is mad Wukong is working with the celestial:aka the murderers of his friends and swk is mad at Mac for attacking his new friends, and abandoning him and his family. Course this ends in Mac dying, but bai he was old enough to see everything, but couldn’t do anything but hide and watch.

Mac is buried and bai he stays by his grave after the group is gone, sobbing for days. That’s where the LDB thrall found her. He asked her if she wanted to see her dad again, and she immediately said yes.

The thrall froze her and took her soul to diyu where the LDB already agreed to help, as long as he can return to his daughter. He wasn’t told the whole plan and is angry when he sees his daughter in diyu with him, thinking he was tricked.

The LBD said the actual plan won’t happen for a while. In the meantime Mac can teach bai he to fight and use her powers so she can survive till Mac comes back

Mac is suspicious as fuck of her but wants bai he to be able to protect herself so he does it,meanwhile the is feeding her own magic into bai he body to make it stronger and aging it a little ( like dark lady from sailor moon) so she’s 12- 16 ish physically

Couple centuries later, bai he is dubbed good enough and thrown back in her fresh,y dethawed body. The thrall tells her if she wants to bring her dad back,all she has to do is kill his murderer, and even tells her she’ll have a better chance of success if she steals the monkey kings power from his protege

She asks how can her dad come back from the dead and the thrall lets out that Mac body can’t decompose and the lbd can fix his body so he can come back

Bai he goes to pigsty noodles as a human teenager looking for a job with her sob story thats also kind of true how her dad died and she has no money, and she looks so scared and pitiful that pigsty gives her a job

One monster attack she actually helps MK who asks where she learned to fight like that and she tells him shyly her dad taught her and she’s willing to teach him a few things

After this bai he puts the seal the thrall showed he onto MK and starts teaching him, helping take down monsters, and sharing stories about how cool and kind her dad was.

It all came to a head when a shadow smoke monster appeared in the desert. Bai he makes a clone that looks like macaque, MK looses his powers and bai he hides while she waits for Wukong to come to his students rescue, expecting some kind of remorse from the monkey king, but all she got was insults towards the Mac clone. Monkey king attacks the clone and bai he tries to take him out from behind.

Despite everything, she doesn’t want to kill anyone and is super shaken, scared and hesitant during the attack so Wukong is easily able to grab her and throw her to the ground but the Mac clone catches her

MK is upset about the betrayal and asks if any of their friendship was real. Bai he is very quick to tell him it was all real. Her dad was killed but there’s a way to bring him back. She just has to kill his murderer, and she points a shakey finger at wukong, and tells MK that when her dad comes back he’ll teach MK so much better than the piss pore way the monkey king was doing things

Wukong is confused, he hasn’t killed anyone who could be her dad.

This angers her and calls him a liar, dropping the human glamour saying she saw him kill the six ear macaque, her dad. The clone melts back into the shadow and Wukong is so shocked that bai he is able to get a few hits in before MK breaks free and defeats her

She doesn’t run away though and just sobs apologies, saying she just wanted her dad back

MK being the sympathetic sweetheart says he gets it and he would probably do something similar if the same thing happened to him and he was promised a way of getting dadsy back,maybe not as extreme though. MK asked her to come back to the shop and maybe they can find a way to save her dad without murder

Wukong said he shouldn’t trust her since she tried to kill them( she corrects him saying she just tried to kill swk and was gonna give back MKs powers after) but MK said she was just a scared kid

At the shop bai he comes clean to everyone and apologizes again. Of corse the group is hurt and hesitant to trust her but she has MK on her side so they’ll give her a chance. Tang suggested they go to Mac grave to see if maybe the ppl who told her to do everything put something on Mac body to make it possible, to resurrect. Wukong is still with them cause he didn’t trust this little girl but indulged the group and showed them where he hurried Mac only to find an archeologist team already there

The archeologist said they were tipped off on this location by the Mayer and did find a well preserved 6 ear monkey mummy. It was so well preserved that if it wasn’t for the weapons, clothes, and other clues, they would have thought the monkey was freshly dead. They said they already shipped it off to the research facility months ago, but it should appear in museums soon

This horrified bai he cause that was around the time she was dethawed and sent on her mission, and realized she was backstabbed. Swk sees her reaction and starts believing that she isn’t lying

Tang has connections to the museum so he keeps an ear out to try to find Mac, meanwhile bai he continues to work at the shop for food and board , and honestly just something to keep her busy

Finally Mac body is put on display at the museum but is super heavily guarded thanks to the mayor. Bai he doesn’t wanna leave her dad alone so she hides in the shadows while she waits for tang to try to negotiate something with the museum like to put his body back is storage and give baihe a chance to steal it from the shadows) then dbk gets possessed but no one calls bai he and the museum isn’t hit so she doesn’t know.

When the lady bone demon is free from dbk, her spirit goes to the museum with her thrall

Bai he immediately tries to attack the mayor cause of the backstabbing but the lbd revives Mac. Bai he and he have a heart warming reunion right before LBD possesses baihe and tells Mac since his daughter failed the task she gave her, he has to step up to work off the debt of his revival if he wants her back and puts the chains on him as an extra precaution

The group is worried about bai he disappearing with Mac body cuss there was a clear fight that happened but the security cameras pointing at the body were corrupted and the only thing that they could see was bai he charging at something that was approaching Mac

Wukong finds out first she’s possessed but doesn’t tell anyone and goes on vacation

MK finds baihe in the sewers, tries to rescue her but finds out she’s possessed, and she mocks him saying he’s no hero,he couldn’t even protect 1 little girl and Swk made a mistake picking him

At the same time they’re able to debug the tape and find out what happened

Shadow play still happens but that’s the first time macaque meet MK

The rest of the events happen just like the show with the exception everyone knows Mac is doing this for his kid and MK tries to convince him to help them by saying they can save bai he together instead of how in the show he says “you don’t really wanna do this”

Mac also tries to stop the summari fire being reforged cause they don’t know if bai he would be hurt too. He does convince the group to test the fire out on him first and if it doesn’t hurt him, he’ll help. But the moment he feels pain he’s destroying the rings so they can t hurt his daughter

it goes the same way,with Wukong trying to beat up and blame Mac who runs away now that the chains on him are gone and tries to come up with a plan to help the group. But then Mac hears the fight between lbd and Wukong and rushes to try to save his daughter. He gets there right as Wukong is about to punch and kill lbd. He screams for Wukong to stop, and this distract him enough that Wukong is possessed. Nezha gets his shit rocked and Mac teleports MK away be for kidnapping the mayor

While under her control, lbd tries to taught Wukong by saying her hosts curly hair is so much like Wukong. The fact the the host is the child of the six ear macaque, a celestial monkey, makes her wonder if the hosts father is another celestial monkey. Kinda planting the seed into Wukong

Same stuff happens,MK gets all his powers back, they make a plan, lbd drops baihe when Wukong breaks free, and she wakes up to her dad and a bowl of noodles

She still doesn’t like or trust Wukong around her dad so she always makes sure to stay between them before macaque and her leave to travel the world and catch up

Drawing for my ghosting au idea has made me realize how ghost like Macaque is in the beginning cause of all the floating. I just gotta redraw some scenes with his outfit from his brotherhood days and white eyes. Boom. Ghosting Macaque

New AU idea-Ghosting AU

So I’ve had this major head cannon about macaque, more specifically about his body. 

In the book it says the monkeys don’t age cause their names are crossed off the book of the dead, but why not take it a step further where their bodies just straight up don’t change and that includes decomposing. 

I head cannon that the LBD had a lot of reasons for choosing macaque as her champion. Main one being that she wanted to use him as a vessel cause of the 6 ears ability to listen to the past, present and future,  and how how his strength is equal to Wukong,which I’ve seen a lot of ppl have this head cannon. 

Another one is, as far as I can tell, Macaque is the only character in LMK that Wukong actually killed. But if we take the head cannon that his body can’t decompose, and how since his name is crossed off the book, he not under the 10 kings rule so technically they can’t make him stay in Diyu  or have any say over his soul, plus with Wukong smashing the Diyu up last time, I don’t think anyone down there is jumping at the chance to try that stunt again. So Macaque is free to go, but his head on his physical body is still crushed so it can’t hold his soul

So LBD saw this as the perfect chance to try to make a deal with Macaque to help with her plan, saying she can bring him back to life. She leaves out the part of where all she has to do is heal Macaques head so he can just pop back in, and makes it seem like a huge and complicated feat that requires a huge amount of magic (which she didn’t have being trapped) and it would be only fair that Macaque help free her for all the trouble she’s going though to resurrect him. And as an added bonus, her healing Mac’s body would mean putting a lot of her magic in it, which would make him easier to control 

I had an au idea where Macaque doesn’t accept LBD offer. He probably had enough with scheming, manipulative jerks trying to tell him what to do from being in the brother hood. Just like that song from Beetlejuice the musical “ I’ve been swimming with piranhas, I dont need a shark”.  But he does get her to slip before he says no about the fact that macacque doesn’t have to stay in Diyu.

Macaque of course is salty about dying, and just haunts Wukong. Sometime Wukong can see Macaque with his golden vision but just assumes he’s lost it and just hallucinating Mac cause of his guilty conscious (which he doesn’t admit he has cause he double down on his hatred for Mac’s action and convinces himself it was justifiable ) and then resorts to just ignoring Mac. This of course angers Macaque, but 500+ years of haunting a guy, and watching him change and grow and mature might cool his anger and frustration a little and cause Mac to self-reflect too. Also its exhausting screaming and crying at someone who’s basically acting like a wall. 

Eventually Mac is just so tired and off handed asked if Wukong could at least move his body to FFM cause he wants to be laid to rest  at home. This finally gets a response from Wukong cause he doesn’t care how fucked up his psych is to be imagining his dead ex. He refuses to desecrate a grave. Besides Macs body probably long since decomposed. Hearing this does destroy Mac emotionally further since his body was the only thing he had left in the world and he didn’t even have a proper grave. 

Some time passes and Wukong is glad the Hallucinations finally stopped and he can finally sleep. Meanwhile Mac’s ghost is out looking for his corpse which is a little difficult with how much time passed. He does eventually find it and was hoping that at least some of his bones survived. So color him shocked when he sticks his head in the ground and sees his whole ass body looking just like it did the day he died.

Mac does some math, figures out why LBD sought him out specifically, and inferred if he can get someone to heal his body he can stop ghosting around.

Wukong is the only one who can see him so of course he rushes back to Wukong begging for help, even stating he promises to leave and Wukong never has to see him again. But wukong just thinks the hallucinations are back and ignores him.

So when the new kid with wukong’s power start showing frustration in wukong teachings (which Mac also agrees that wukong sucks at teaching) he jumps at the chance to follow mk to town and wait for the next time he gets his butt kicked by a rampaging monster. Mac makes mk activate his golden vision, and gives the kid some actual pointers on his stance and fighting style so mk can take the master down

Mk is originally freaked out at this transparent monkey, but Mac lies and says its astro projection, and offers to help tutor mk where Wukong is slacking in teaching. In return, MK will help Mac out of the (literal) ditch when the time comes. 

Mk agrees thinking Mac just wanted a friend. Mk still hides the fact that someone else is helping him train, but wukong is getting suspicious when mk starts asking about astro projection, but mk just says he read it somewhere so he doesn’t get the “have you been 2 timing me?”speech (which should have been a red flag to wukong cause mk doesn’t read, that’s why he has tang) but wukong buys the lie 

Eventually wukong leaves for his ‘vacation’ so Mac asks for mk’s help now that he can’t ask for wukong to also help, and risk finding out what he did in the past. He asks mk to come to this specific area with a bed sheet (just because Macs body doesn’t decompose, doesn’t mean his clothes and armor don’t) and a shovel, saying they’re going to be digging up a fossil.

Mk had a dinosaur phase, hes psyched to find fossils. He does freak out when his digging unearths a hand, and tries to run away. Mac gets scared that mk won’t help him and screams that mk promised to help him out of the ditch. This makes mk stop and turn back to Mac scared and upset expression, and how the hand mk dug up looks like Macs. Mk asks if Mac is a ghost, and Mac says yes but not really.

Mk oringaly thinks Mac wants his help solving his murder until Mac clarifies the limbo state he’s in and how he just needs mk to get his body to a healer for him to come back to life and be free, upping th tear jerking fact that he’s been trapped in this state of existence for so long without anyone to talk to or hug and its such a soul crushing existence 

Mac purposefully leaves out how he and Wukong know each other and how Wukong is his killer, cause Mac thinks with his hero worshiping, mk would take wukong’s side on this, and believe Mac is a schemeing villain who deserves his fate.

Mk agrees and digs out the rest of Mac to bring him home and starts trying too find a healer, this also involves stuffing macaques corpse in his closet(lol), hiding him under the bed, and weekend at bernie’s hid body so no one freaks out that mk has a corpse in his room.

This all comes to a head when LDB appears in the desert to take mk's staff and seal his powers, and she took Mac's corpse from MK's room when he was away and is using it like a puppet to attack the group. Mac is freaked out, and is double upset when mk's powers are sealed so Mac can't talk too mk anymore.

Wukong also is freaked out about his ex's corpse when he makes it back, and tells the group "i dunno how or why she has macaque's corpse" when everyone is on the ship flying away and theyre making the plan to get the fire. Which MK asks how Wukong knows mac. Wukong still has his gold vision and sees mac try to tell mk to stop. Wukong asks mk how he knows mac, and mk tells the story about how he and mac became friends. the others are freaked that mk not only was being haunted but was hiding a body, Wukong finally has the heart dropping conclusion that the hallucinations aren't hallucinations, cause other wise mk, who has never met macaque (or read journey to the west), wouldnt be able to see mac, and all these years where mac was begging for help was actually the real mac and he was ignoring him.

mac thinks Wukong still wont help and doesn't want to be around when he tells mk all the awful things mac did in the past so he leaves, but not before Wukong sees the pain, sadness and hoplessness on macs face. mac is gone before Wukong can stop him and is left processing all this. he doesnt get to do it long, cause LBD sent zombie mac to kidnap wukong and mk. wukong doesnt see mac's ghost but he does hear him when mac yells at him that mac had a injury that didnt heal right before his name was erased from the book of the dead, wukong uses that to get out of zombie macs hold, mk blows up the engine, and the ship sinks

i got more ideas of where this would go but wanted to make sure i wrote at least this out in case i wanna draw anthing later

Wukong is so silly in jttw! I wish lmk Wukong had more interactions with his monkey family or have his generals and marshals as characters. The book makes it sound like he went to get groceries instead of robbing a palace
