Where The Hell Have the Mods Been?
Hey!
Long story short, both Mod G and I (Mod T!) have been getting a lot of shitty life things thrown at us. I spent all of last summer and fall caring for a dying loved one, Mod G got strangely ill and still has no answers (paging Greg House!). We took a breather, got our collective shits together, and then both got waylaid again. We HAVE been working on stuff but it’s been more like “...when we both have energy to run this again.” So the good news is that when we come back there will be lots of content and cool things! But right now it’s semi-hiatus while get back on our feetsies.

Coronation Volume Two: Electric Boogaloo
*shows up to the Coronation party fifteen months late with Starbucks*

First: the art remains, for the most part, gorgeous. The story remains gripping. Tangle remains the agender love of my life. Papa Jareth still needs to shape his eyebrows. (Seriously. I think the most shocking takeaway from all of this for me is that Jareth comes by those naturally.)
We meet new characters in this volume AND I LOVE THEM. Cible, you little revolutionary you.
A lot from the first volume is built upon, and I couldn't be happier. But I would like to know how Jareth knows so much about his mother's run, even if he is Unreliable Narrator Supreme. Who told him? Things don't seem to be looking so good for the OG King--he's got an unhappy court and heir troubles on top of suspicious coughing, so I can't imagine he played happy houses too long with baby Jareth. And based on a comment his mystery son makes regarding being raised to adhere to the chivalric code, I really can't picture him raising Jareth himself. On second though, maybe I can.
I don't see much of either of his biological parents in his adult behavior either, and besides that it's a foregone conclusion that Maria loses somehow. (Quick aside: someone please please please write the fic where Maria is still in the background of the masquerade while Sarah is there.)

Maria vs the patriarchy 18kWhenever
Based on Jareth's preoccupation with entertainment in the comics themselves, it seems more like the court raised him--but they're nowhere to be found either in the film or in adult!Jareth's sections of the comics. I dunno, guys. Time will tell. (Another quick aside: has anyone seen MirrorMask who remembers the court there? Someone else please please please write this crossover fic.)
But also: THE RING CAME BACK. And it's the royal ring. HMM.
I am dying to see what happens during Sarah and Jareth's final showdown and how that's presented in the comics.
TL:DR: Get the comics. Form theories. Write fics. COME AND TALK TO ME ABOUT YOUR THEORIES.

I finally watched Labyrinth!! It was awesome!! WHY isn't it more popular?! (Also this blog is great!)
Funny thing is that Labyrinth is quite popular as a cult classic! But the fandom itself is small and rather self-contained, which is just as well, and separate from the popularity of the film as a cult hit. The upside is that it’s all quite cozy and everyone knows someone else one way or another. :3 so we’re happy to have you here! Thank you for reading!

Sorry I have nothing to ask right now but I just wanted to say welcome back!! (Life™ has been so nonstop for me too, it simultaneously feels like 2 years and like just 1 single month since I've last seen y'all... Time goes too fast!) I look forward to seeing your wonderfully ugly goblin icon on my dashboard again
Thank you! The other day when we were like “Uh, so we should post something...” we were discussing building up a few posts here and there and ramp up for Promptober like we did last year, but then we were like OH SNAP OCTOBER IS IN LIKE 2 WEEKS! We have a more solid update coming soon (think State of the Gloss) to kinda go over things. We do want to give regular, solid, consistent content and come up with a plan we can actually stick with (ha!) Anyway, thanks for sticking around! I’d say help yourself to a peach in the meantime but you know...

henlo goblins
we are alive, just barely! life has been non-stop for us all and didn’t mean to abandon ye olde GL and we really haven’t all things considered but there are very delayed content things we’re slowly working on. Feel free to harass us with asks and things you’d like to see! (though we know we still need to sort out some Coronation meta!)

This is the person anon refers to.
Hey, so I was just rewatching the ballroom scene and... has anyone else noticed/talked about why there are a few very quick shots where in the background there's like..a gold-skinned woman not wearing a mask (nor an extravagant outfit similar to the other masqueraders)?
Mod T: wow, good eye! Took me a sec to find her, thankfully she shows up right away in the clip (we will reblog with a pic attached as the answer thinger doesn’t allow media). Hmm, I’ve never noticed her until you pointed it out, but it is interesting. I think not only the lack of a mask, but also her simple attire, skin color, and that she’s carrying a tray indicates she is definitely a servant of some kind. The skin color gets me the most though. I assume Sarah is the only known human in the entire room, so I wonder if the gold-skin lady was at one time also.

Hi! I was hoping that maybe u could help me find a labyrinth fic? it involved older Sarah going back to the labyrinth (as always) but she finds out that since she's left the labyrinth hasn't been doing too good and she accidentally wishes Jareth away and she has to go find him and he's at some cottage in the woods. there's a scene where she bites him at the beginning and then later in the story he bites her in return as some sort of bonding thing I think. ur blog is great btw, I love ur posts!!
HEY! Please accept our apologies for the time. I (Mod T) had to dig around for a couple days to find what I was looking for. The first one that came to mind was “The End of Days” by dansemacabre, who has written some lovely fics. What jogged my memory was the cabin thing and wishing Jareth away. I haven’t read it in awhile, so I don’t remember the biting, but I can keep digging. Please let us know if this is correct or not for you! https://www.fanfiction.net/s/2552093/1/The-End-of-Days

The Bestiary: Blud
The blud comes to us from slavic mythology and is a very special type of fairy. They were considered evil and were feared especially by travelers. Why?
Because the blud would lead the unwary traveler off their path, making them walk in circles until the traveler either figured out what was up, or died. Those were pretty much your choices.
Later, with the introduction of Christianity, Slavic scholars likened the blud to fornication... which is, I guess, another way of losing one's way within a religious context. That isn't really important here.
Anyway.

This entry might seem to come out of left field, but I think if we focus on the "losing one's way" aspect of the blud, then it fits the little goblin that switches out the flagstones in the labyrinth. Sarah tries really hard to mark her path, but is instead led in circles by the goblin.

I am s t a r v i n g for meta for labyrinth coronation oh my god
We're holding off on it for now, probably at least until the second volume is out (Mod G already pre-ordered the hardcover version) to either confirm or deny some of our suspicions.
But worry not, there's a whole heap of Coronation meta we're eager to delve into.
