Reasons why computer problems seem to mysteriously vanish as soon as a technician shows up:
You were spacing out and skipping a step somewhere without realising it, and you cant reproduce it when you try to demonstrate it because now you’re paying attention to what you’re doing
It’s an intermittent electrical connection fault that’s being aggravated by movement/vibrations in your desk; you need to check your cables
The act of explaining the problem to someone caused you to figure out what you were doing wrong
The real cause of the problem was somewhere upstream of your terminal device – for example, at the network service provider – and it got fixed at the source while you were waiting
Your computer is in a location with poor airflow and is overheating; waiting for the technician to arrive gave it a chance to cool off
Despite all appearances to the contrary, modern computers actually have very good fault recovery, and most minor problems will sort themselves out on their own if you give it a minute

UnLinux ask game
1 - What would it take to make you go without laptop, phone, etc for a month? 2 - If you could make one last tech related project, what would it be? 3 - You've escaped and built a farm. What kind of farm is it? 4 - Overseas cables will stop existing tomorrow. Are you moving to elsewhere? is someone moving to where you live? 5 - Have you ever done a digital detox? 6 - What's your favourite hobby that doesn't include anything computerized? 7 - Would you rather have no tech in your personal life, or in your professional life? 8 - If you had to switch to a non-tech job/study, what would it be? 9 - When is the last time you sent a hand written card or letter? 10 - Would you be okay with never texting again & only calling? 11 - Have you ever used a rotary phone? 12 - And a payphone? 13 - You're going in isolation for a while. Which books or records are you bringing? 14 - You get to swap one tech skill for a non-tech skill. Which ones? 15 - You get to delete one platform/software project from existence. Which one? 16 - What's the most fun tech-free thing you've ever done? 17 - Are you happy with your handwriting? 18 - Would you rather ditch your phone or your laptop/desktop? 19 - What non-tech hobby would you like to pick up that you've never tried before? 20 - Would you have to move if you had to be less tech dependent?

i think i figured out the life cycle of the average linux gimmick blog
stage 1: creation. doing your best to stay on topic according to the gimmick you assigned yourself to
stage 2: rise to fame. you are noticed. your inbox is bursting
stage 3: abandonment. you run out of things to say about your gimmick. you feel guilty about it
stage 4: linux is really about yuri

Sometimes i have to write in German (mainly for work), but even then i always replace them. Even in bureaucracy letters i'm nowadays always using replacements.
(tbh. i even had to think for a second in above's reblog how to write an ä on the phones keyboard 😅).
All of my computers don't have a German keyboard layout defined in their OS, not even the one laptop i have that actually has a german keyboard layout printed on.
i forgor to make the poll long aaaaaa. making it again
if you use multiple keyboard layouts choose the one you use the most in your personal life! also pls share for better sample size

qwerty, not even using a qwertz keyboard even though i'm a native German and could make use of the "Umlaute", i'm nowadays used to replacing them with their non special character counterparts e.g. ä => ae

To have one (relatively) high-effort post on my new blog, as a display server as a window manager enthusiast I've always been interested in other paradigms for window management, which is why stuff like Niri's scrolling and "zoomable window managers" (Eagle Mode, Pipeworld) are so interesting. So I was thinking, what's another way to deal with multiple windows on a screen—make them change shape! I know it'd probably be a mess to code, but I've always felt non-rectangular window shapes have so much potential that's never been realized.
Presenting the concept of a "shaping window manager". It lets you drag windows around like a floating WM, but keeps all of them fully visible like a tiling WM.

If your program responds to a "-h" by telling me that it isn't a recognised opinion and that I should use "--help" I get very angry, and a little sad
