Ladies, gentlemen, weebs and gamers….I did it. I finally got myself a tomboy gf 💕💕💕

I first met her at my first job when I moved to Maine in 2018. We almost instantly hit it off and quickly became best friends. We almost hooked up in the October of the following year (bottom concert pic, Ghost in Portland Maine 2019) but life had other decisions. She was in a toxic relationship and felt trapped and sadly wasn’t able to get out for a while. The oh so “lovely” ex forced her to ghost me cause he was scared she’d leave him for me (only a few years off tbh). I said some things I regretted to her, I mean I thought she had been the one who ghosted me, also my dad had died literally the month before all this went down. So like I really needed my best friend the most she got taken out of my life. Anyway skip to June 2023. It had been almost 4 years since we last spoke or saw each other. Then one night I get a novel long text from her explaining these past few years and what went down. Lots of mental and emotional abuse had been done to her and she finally couldn’t take it. We met up for coffee a day or so later and talked for almost 4 hours just catching up. Omg the hug, it was amazing. We stayed that way for a few minutes. Nearly broke my heart when she said she didn’t want to let go. As the days went we talked for literal hours on end or took comfort in the silence as we did our own things when FaceTiming. This past weekend, while holding her in my arms in her bed, I finally asked her out.

Yeah we should’ve probably waited a little longer but honestly when we started talking again it’s almost like those missing years never happened. Obviously we acknowledge that that had happened. She still feels a massive amount of guilt for how that went down. We’ve still been working things out. It’s honestly been good. We’ve had very open heart conversations together which was one reason I made the choice to ask her out.

I’ve always cared for her and I am thankful she’s back in my life. It doesn’t feel real but all I know is this is the most I’ve smiled in months.
