Apologies for my inactivity lately--my art muse sort of crowded out my RP muse for a while. I’m also thinking about how to make the RP more enjoyable for everyone--because I’m finding that when Haladrin does get customers he tends to get a lot of them all at once, which means I don’t get to really talk to your characters at any length.

Honestly my hope was to drum up some tumblr RP, which would allow for more character interaction that isn’t dependent on being online at the same time, and doesn’t make us have to wrap up quickly so others get a chance, and sometimes chill and chat with people in game over noodles, make friends with the return customers and all...but the current model only leaves me with time to send people off with their food before turning to the next person in line. And...I really want to spend some time getting to know your characters, you know? Because they’re more than just an order number.

So I guess what I’m saying is...it’s not that I’m not RPing much lately because I don’t want to RP, it’s that I’m trying really hard to think about how to have more personal RP with you guys than just: “Here's your order, have a nice day. Next!”

[[ I hope you don't mind me asking an OOC question, but what do you use to draw those lovely menu pictures? I adore them and your menu and have been dying to ask! ]]

(( Manga Studio 5! It’s a great program, and under $50 (unless you get the Pro version, which helps you do multi-page manga and comics, etc--but the basic one has all you need for single page art). I paid $38 Canadian on Amazon. I’m really loving it, and still learning as I go. I actually just downloaded a bunch of free brushes from the official Manga Studio group on DeviantArt, so you can add and customize brushes like you would in Photoshop.

Here’s some random doodle things I just did today playing with some of them. Don’t ask me what the black fuzzy snake/sperm thing is, I have no idea, rofl. It’s just a doodle gone out of control. (I’m just in love with the fuzz brush I downloaded.) So far I’ve been using a mouse to draw them, which is slow work, but I just got the call today that my tablet arrived, so I’m looking forward to playing with that, too! \o/ ))

In the morning, a delivery appears at the orphanage--a single noodle bowl, marked ‘For Your Approval’. A note inside the bag describes the dish, from the black squid ink noodles to the sauteed butternut squash, along with two soft-boiled eggs which have been molded into skull and jack-o’-lantern shapes, and four baby octopus. It goes on to explain that the bowls for the children would be half the size, and feature a single egg and a pair of sausages cut to resemble octopus.

Other samples are yet to come, pending approval of the main course.

Children’s Menu?

(( Haladrin just brought dinner home for the family, with a special little bowl for their toddler, and it got us thinking...

Little child-size noodle bowls topped with boiled eggs pressed in a mold so they come in cute shapes, or sausages cut to look like squid or octopus? Hmmm...))

The Golden Phoenix has been closed for the last few days, as the chef was ill (the player as well!). Haladrin will be cooking again Wednesday afternoon at 2 pm server time (minimum an hour if there’s nobody around, longer if there’s RP to be had).

He will be adding a new dish to the menu, as there was interest in a vegetarian choice: The Harvest Bowl, featuring a single large mushroom seasoned, grilled, and cut into strips, a generous portion of sauteed butternut squash, and a side of fresh greens and scallions…all served over noodles in a soy-based broth.

I really enjoyed the opening event of the shop! When are you guys usually online? Do you do catering? ))

Hi! We had fun as well :)  I can really only speak to my own availability (Haladrin’s) and such, so here it is! This week I’m working late for the first half of the week to cover for a coworker who’s on vacation, but I’m looking at RPing Haladrin more in the afternoons once my schedule goes back to normal in a couple of days. For IC reasons, Haladrin wants to be home in time to make dinner for the family as much as he can, and for me as a player, I needed to spark some fun RP to keep myself occupied when my main RP partner starts school.

My hope is to be on at least 3 afternoons a week (sometimes I need to do chores…sigh) but I’m also kind of hoping that people who can’t be on during the afternoon will walk up using the “order” button on the tumblr page so there can be tumblr RP too and no one gets left out! 

As to catering…it is a possibility! While Hala has no desire to work steady evenings (nor do I, as I have another character I’d like to play on the evenings when my partner is available, lol), he would be happy to pick up the occasional catering job :)
