a non-smutty ghost/soap work :) 3k, 1/1. plenty of pining, soft fluff & touch starvation. starts out as ghost helping soap manage his gunshot wound but definitely escalates a little. 

I literally have 4 midterms and god knows how many assignments next week but for the last 24 hours this fic has taken complete control over me.

throughout my exploration, the reason why I waited so long for the fandom to gather works before my deep dive kept lingering in the back of my thoughts: the sheer volume of depraved horniness and dead dove. absolutely NOTHING is off limits. some of these works here haven’t escaped that legacy and in fact embrace its dysfunction; mind the tags. part 1

1) The Best Way to Spread Christmas Cheer is Screaming Loud for all to Hear by SkarySkylar.  6.7k words; 1/1. toji/gojo. after getting a taste of dilf toji (in)voluntarily adopting gojo into his little family I've been insatiable. 

2) babydoll by popsky. 13k, 5/5. toji/yuuji. toji/megumi. delicious. toes the line.. but not really, since the incest kinda sprints through it... still delicious... 

3) Teeth, Ribs, Bones on Pyres by moshimo. 5.3k, 1/1. sukuna/megumi. this was soooo good. on godhood and dirty, unwavering faith. 

4) Woof Woof by SkarySkylar. 8.9k, 1/1. sukuna/megumi. okay, this is super lighthearted and fun. not the most realistic fic but the woof woof was just what I needed after reading so much dead dove, so it’ll go in here. 

5) happy birthday, kid by maginot. 5.4k, 1/1. toji/gojo. yeah. I want to read ten million of this exact same trope. 

6) premonition by Markovia. 3.6k, 1/1. toji/gojo. wheew. gorgeous art. the tamest fic here (violence-wise) and that says too much about the woman I've become post jjk dead dove binge. 

7) free of charge by megumis. 2.7k, 1/1. toji/gojo. megumis always pulls through with these. 

8) BEBE by moshimo. 8.3k, 1/1. toji/gojo. I wanna be toji’s boy wife too, man. also:

9) Eat your prayers by sweetlikesugar. 2.8k, 1/1. megumi/sukuna. yeah I did binge all their fics, yeah these next 2 reccs are from them, yeah I know. I love this idea in particular. wish there was more. this is honestly aaaaa!!!

10) I’m tryna cut you open motherfucker, stop flinching by sweetlikesugar. 2.6k, 1/1. toji/gojo. honestly I really wish this author wrote longer fics. toe-curler.

11) Inkblot by sweetlikesugar. 2.3k, 1/1. megumi/itadori. perhaps a weaker entry in terms of imagery, but I dig the codependency.

zhongli/childe fic recs

I've been hoarding these for the better part of the last 12 months. a lovely dynamic, though I do wish works focused more on the violent parts of Childe and less on how much of a loser he is. and also unlocking some more ferality in zhongli. please peel back their layers of civility and reveal the rawness within. (edit: is it ok to link my own fic? 9k 1/1, I really loved exploring two monsters loving each other, read tags! :] ) 

1) sunshine riptide by rire. 23k, 4/4. the opening of this fic really set the scene. by that, I mean a persistent sad face while reading that got deeper and deeper as I reached the end. I also love the title. 

2) night time; tea leaves; good company by dirtmemer. 5.7k, 1/1. this reads like a ship classic. I'm so happy with the way Childe is written. If only it was more violent. 

3) if i choose not to see it, it does not exist by inareese. 4.9k, 1/1. suuuper popular fic, and for good reason. 

4) forfend by en passant. 21k, 3/3. amazing. additional tags: gore, body horror, intrusive thoughts. it’s right up my alley. 

5) somewhere holy by apricotlipped. 3.4k, 1/1. a stunning little thing. bit of a character study on both of them.

--the Bgtea interlude- they’re a super popular author and a very prolific writer, deservedly so. I don’t usually read incomplete fics, but I follow (6) Entirely Out of Spite religiously and I am confident that it will be completed.  

7) The Autumn Winds Are Sighing by Bgtea. 138k, 21/21. The highest hitter of this ship; a cemented classic. Well done. 

8) Pulcinella’s Guide to PR and Marketing Strategies- Idol Edition by Bgtea. 20k, 3/3. for some reason this is not as popular as the aforementioned, but it should be. I laughed out loud multiple times. a delight to read.

9) Of Gold by IlluminanceinTales. 18k, 2/2. a zhongli-centered fic focused on loss and grief. This work really resonated with me. If there was one thing that I dislike, it is that the ending (the second half, really) felt rushed. I just wanted to read more but I understand how hard this fic must have been to write. 

10) grounding by en passant. 12k, 4/4. Childe centric/charcter study. nicely gruesome. 

11) aim for the heart by wolframvonbielefeld. 3.5k, 1/1. I love this idea. Childe centric.

12) bond default by yenkieu. 13k, 1/1. also reads like a ship classic. this is when I realize exactly how much I like reading fics with similar-ish happenings, or at least very similar themes. 

13) one lantern, two prayers by wolframvonbielefeld. 4.5k, 1/1. lantern rite date and then some. a case study in how to choose which excerpt to use in the summary. it certainly drew me in. what an amazing excerpt. 

14) slow embers by lady_peony. 13k, 5/5. THE food date fic. this tag sums it well: ‘in liyue we don’t apologize we just vibe.’

15) yanluo wang by tzitzimeme. 5.2k, 1/1. I usually don't leave a note when I bookmark something on ao3 because I remember what happens. except for this fic. a lot of ‘oh my god’s and some tear stains on my iPad for this one. 

16) along the wild geese, my heart flies by lady_peony. 5.8k, 1/1. this author knows how to write good fic. 

17) my faceless self, alone by recursion. 7k, 1/1. zhongli centric fic. comes with all the pain and anguish with it being so. 

18) farewell, my archaic lord by growingclouds. 11k, 4/4. I swear I thought this fic was completed waay later than feb 2022. I guess I just think of it that often. Chinese opera and zhongli/childe!!! yunjin!! an amazing work all-round. 

19) sir knight, please get out of my tree by oronine. 9k words, 1/1. a nice and light historical au. female zhongli. 

20) sometimes it’s impossible by crossbelladonna. 4.7k, 1/1. cute. 

21) the consultant’s kidnapping by glassdrachma. 19k, 14/14. crack treated seriously. I love this. super funny.

kunikage fic recs

kunikage is such an underrated ship! barely any fics centered around it too. I love the themes explored in this particular dynamic-- themes of detachment, disinterest maybe, disassociation, but with a raring fire underneath begging to be acknowledged. 2020 was undoubtedly a rough time for all, me included, and I struggled with redefining who I was and regaining a love for life, so a lot of these works came at the right time. likely part 1. 

1) Sixth Star by cyclical. 6k words, 1/1. space opera, mental instability, unreliable narrator. I love this so much. part 1 of the Heavenly Bodies series. 

2) Sevenfold Eclipse by cyclical. 12k words, 1/1, sequel to Sixth Star. I squealed when I checked the kunikage tag last year and saw this continuation! A delight. 

3) water night by lovingness. 7k words, 1/1. I remember feeling stunned after I read this. It’s been two years since and I still think about this work sometimes. 

4) so sweet and so cold by entremelement. 2.7k words, 1/1. short & sweet, colourful. I love the titlesake of this work.

5) Miroirs by borage. 7k, 1/1. introspective. coming-of-age. the author paints such vivid, relatable images of kunimi that 2020 me felt so seen.

jjk fic rec

don’t forget to read tags. read most of these in the span of a week, so there’s not a lot I like yet. there’s something about the sukufushi dynamic that I need to think through a bit more to understand why I'm drawn to it. part 1 probably. (edit: part 2) 

1) Eternity Enshrined by apartment. 136k words, 16/16, megumi/sukuna. cried many times. lord. the afterword/analysis of the fic also brought me to tears. I need to get permission to print this masterpiece and carry it with me everywhere. have reread this so often.

2) KINGSLAYER//GODMAKER by SkantySkylar. 210k words, 21/24 so far. megumi/sukuna. read up to the halfway point of this fic in one night; 11 pm - 6 am nonstop and my heart hurt the whole time and I couldn’t put my iPad down even though I had a final in a few hours.

3) with open mouth and open mouth by ftera. 7k words, 1/1. toji/gojo. something lighthearted after the previous heart stabbers. I got daddy issues. 

4) I’m not your doctor by Oilux. 10k words, 1/1. megumi/sukuna. love me a mafia AU. vet megumi is super cute too. 

5) Armed, Enamoured by apartment. 10k words, 1/1. megumi/sukuna. very interesting. 

6) THEY SHOULD CALL U SUGAR! by megumis. 13k words, 1/1. toji/gojo. I've reread this like four times already. I love toji. I need this irl. well, maybe this should just stay fictional, but...okay.. I do want this irl... is there something wrong with me (also this author.... i need to give them a hug.. all their fics have the same codependency/caretaking theme :c ) 

7) a ticket for two by huixin. 1.6k words, 1/1. yuuji/junpei. the first jjk fanfic I read. read this like the day it was posted, immediately after I watched /that/ episode (2 years ago). I didn’t come back to this fandom until like a few days ago, god.

8) The Art of Genuflecting by EvilPeaches. 4.7k words, 1/1. yuuji/sukuna. indeed, EvilPeaches proves that they are evil. deeply disturbing imagery. sukuna is a monster. usually I binge every fic that an author I like posts, but I was too scared this time.
