Characters/relationships: Tav/Kith'rak Voss, Tav/Baretha, Tav/For'reth (all fantasised), Tav/Karlach (in the background; this Tav is doing their best to self-sabotage)
Content notes: rough noncon fantasy
Summary:
It took them back to the mountain pass, the thin, clear air laced with githyanki scent and dragon musk. To the shining figure of Kith’rak Voss, solid and real in front of their eyes no matter how many times they tried to blink him away. To all the silly fantasies they’d harboured as a strange, lonely youth – and as a lost, exiled adult. The Jhe’stil Kith’rak swooping in on Qudenos’ back to steal them away, recognising their worth, not caring about the differences that got them punished and made others dislike them. If they had his approval, it wouldn’t matter what anyone else thought.
Unable to rest after the events of Crèche Y'llek, Vin'ath resorts to an old, familiar fantasy.
VERY IMPORTANT a dam in the Netherlands, the weerdsluis lock, is directly on a migratory path for spawning fish. They have a worker stationed there to open the door for the fish, but they can take a while to open it. So to keep the fish from getting preyed on by birds they installed a doorbell. Only, the fish don't have hands to ring the doorbell. If you go to their website, they have a LIVE CAMERA AND A DOORBELL that YOU RING FOR THE FISH when they're waiting, and then the dam worker opens the door for them! I can't express how obsessed I am with this. look at this shit. oh my god.
Please check on the fish doorbell once in a while :)
2024, hand bleached and dyed denim, cotton batting and thread
inspired by blackwater photography of plankton! this was my first time layering bleach painting. All the silhouettes were painted with bleaching gel, loosely tie dyed, and then bleached again to make the highlights. I quilted the piece using my free motion foot to outline each individual animal and tacked down the rest of the quilt with small satin stitches that remind me of marine snow. I dyed bias tape to match. super happy with this one and excited to show it in a gallery setting soon!
Ch'k'l ghaik Vlaakith m'zath'ak!
Can you feel it crawling through you? Tendrils squirming in your chest, gripping your heart, piercing your belly? Your bones popping, your flesh swelling?
I can. I see it in you. I feel it in me. We are lost.
I will be quick with my blade. First you. Then the others.
Then myself.
