Grian gasped, letting the reality of him not actually being dead settle in.

“You were reckless, sentimental at best.”

“What?”

“That's not a teaching of ours. Look at you, you've grown soft, your dead friend can attest–”

Joel?

“Hey!!”

“Put your emotions aside!”

He was fed up with their constant demands, wasn't he one of them?

“You're a warrior, meant to kill the rest. Don't know where we went wrong but we warned you…” 

Grian clenched his fists, scowling. 

“Yet you failed the test—”

“That's just like you!” He yelled in retaliation. “Why should I be surprised? So selfish, prideful… vain. Unlike you, every time my friends die, I'm left to deal with the strain!! Being a watcher's nothing if I'll never sleep at night. I'll remind you, you guys were my friends… But now I'm done.”

“This day, you sever your own head.”

“This day, you crossed the line!” Grian snapped.

“This day, you lost it all. Go ahead, have your damn goodbye.”

“I'm not looking for a mentor–”

“We're not looking for a friend.”

He crossed his arms, “I mistook you for good people.”

“You're such a waste of effort spent—”

This ticked Grian off more, “At least I know what I'm fighting for while enjoying's all you know! Since you claim you're so much wiser, why's your life spent all alone? You're alone!!”

Grian felt a pair of hands grip his shoulders from behind. 

“No, you are.”

Thunder struck, and the last man standing, Scott, died.

Grian's heart clenched, “You b-bloodthristy monsters……”

“One day, you'll hear what we're saying. One day, you might understand. One day…”

“Not today.”

“Yes, after all you're just a man.”

Skizz’s frustrated yells could be heard from miles away.

Grian sighed. As much as he loved snails, maaaaaybe offering to babysit half the server’s wasn’t the best idea……

“Where’s Snumbo–? Uh G-Grian have you seen my snail??”

It was chaos just waiting to unfold, even though the gastropods moved at such a slow pace.

“Have you checked your back Mumbo?” Grian yelled back, wrangling up a bunch of his own crawling fellas. Noisy, the little things were; yet also incredibly smart.

On the other side of the map was Ren and Martyn, finding themselves in the very same predicament. 

“Aha! You’re not getting away from me this time, ZnailCleo,” Martyn beamed proudly. “Let’s see here– Pearl’s and Scott’s, Gem, Joel— Ren, could you get iSnail for me please?”

Ren was not enjoying himself whatsoever. Thank God his and BigB’s snail was so tame… The rest of the lot were like cats prowling ‘round his legs and arms as if he was some sort of –*shivers*– snail magnet.

Martyn chuckled, “Loosen up m’ate! The diamonds we earn will be worth it. Besides, these guys are awesome!!”

He could see the fear in Jimmy’s eyes, the hurt on Scar’s face the moment he blew up the reputation board.
