“I appreciate it.” While Cassandra would not call herself close to the people she worked with, she was still glad that the person she was taking a seat across from was a familiar face. She had some common ground to work with this way. Of course, he could be trying to catch up on work and wish to eat in silence. She busied herself with her food for a moment, glancing at some of his papers before finding something to comment on. “Now I am regretting leaving my work behind.” 

Lee gives a nod at her gratitude before going back to the pile of papers laid in font of him. He circles a couple of things that stand out to him, before flipping back through another report to check for any inconsistences. It was easy for him to even forget he had a guest at the table, too deep into his work until she speaks up again. He looks up again before handing her a stack of his papers. “I can use another set of eyes.” He responds. Lee wasn’t all too familiar with everyone at the office, but he remembers coming across her face a couple times.

This isn’t the first encounter they’ve had with each other and something tells the sergeant that this one isn’t going to be the last. Whenever he comes to a crime scene he scouts the area to spot her, so he can ignore her for as long as possible, but for some reason it never happens that way. It ends up with her following him around and throwing questions at him. And this time isn’t any different. He’s walking through the trashed living room, her hot on his trail. Lee puts on a pair of gloves and hands her a pair as well. “If I’m going to answer your questions, you can at least help.” He says then. “We need to lift this dresser up.”

He’s checking his watch for the fourth time. The questioning was suppose to start about 20 minutes ago. But Lee understood, just like the police station, EMT’s was just as busy. He himself wasn’t particular in a rush anyway, it was nice to get out of the office sometimes even if it was related to work. Once the other person walks in he stands and holds his hand out to him. “Thanks for meeting me on such short notice.”

It’s about 8:30 in the morning, entirely too early for Lee to be roaming around the library trying to find a book on criminal thinking. He couldn’t find the one he had from school so the library was his best bet, but he underestimated how much he forgot about the dewy decimal system. After fifteen minutes of trying and failing to find the exact book, Lee walks up to the main desk and nods at the person sitting behind the desk. “Good morning. I’m look for a particular book. It’s called ‘Inside the Criminal Mind’.”

Selina slides into the booth, looking out the window as the rain slowly came down. Today was Saturday, the day she spoils herself with the food that she liked so much. She didn’t even have to look at the menu, having already contemplated what she was going to get for tonight’s dinner. The waitress walks over to the table after a couple minutes and before Selina could even open her mouth to order a basket of fries and a plate of hot wings are being placed on the table and she looks up to see a familiar face. “Oh.” She responds a bit surprised. “Thanks.”

Lee was not one to believe in psychics, especially considering his career. If they existed then why did horrible things still happen on the daily basis? Though when he came across Shawn, Lee couldn’t determine if he was really a psychic or if he just processed a great skill at hypothesis. A few times their department worked with his and Lee would consider Shawn a bit eccentric but good at his job. What bothered the Sergeant was how the other had his own office, at his own station and yet managed to always be in Lee’s. Opening the door he isn’t even bothered when Shawn pops up from behind his desk, yelling ‘SURPRISE’. After the third time Lee has become somewhat used to it. He barely looks up from the cup of coffee he’s sipping on, setting his briefcase on his desk. “I think it’s time you come up with something else.”

They’re seated on the patio of Vanessa’s house, enjoying the slight breeze that the day gifted them with. Yet another case of senseless violence is what lead Lee to the hospital. He hated having to bother someone while they were out of commission, laid in a hospital bed; but it was a part of his job and the information is better right after an incident. The fast-food restaurant was unexpectedly crowded for late lunch on a weekday, the odd hour usually guaranteeing Cassandra a place to sit and relative quiet. Both were in short supply today. Habit and her growling stomach were the only things that kept her from leaving altogether, and she reasoned that by the time she had waited in line and received her food a spot would open up for her. Fifteen minutes later, tray in hand, luck was not on her side. Every table was occupied by at least one person. Grimacing at her only last course of action she approached someone at one of the larger tables. “Truly I hate to ask, but may I sit here? There are no vacant tables.”

Luckily Lee came into the restaurant right before the massive crowd did. He was able to grab the biggest table there in order to spread out while he work and ate. Sure he easily could’ve done this back at his office at the station, but he didn’t like being cooped up all the time. He didn’t order anything big, he wouldn’t have been able to concentrate if he was full from a meal. He works diligently for hours, the crowd around him increases more with the passing time. Lee hardly notices her at first when she approaches but he looks up from his stacks of papers, takes a look around the restaurant and then nods. “Yeah, sure.” He says before moving some of his files out of the way, creating space for her.
