THE GRAND BUDAPEST HOTEL (2014)
dir. Wes Anderson
#Literally everyone who has seen this film tells me that I am Gustave. Very distressing#I think it's the perfume and flamboyance and very firm standards#And also the voice#One of my favourite films ever too

I'm currently in the most passionate, genuine relationship of my life and it's incredibly befuddling. I keep meaning to create more art and keep chugging along with the store and yet I also want to spend every waking moment I can talking to somebody. Bit bizarre, really. I have always been a very loving individual who loves to dote on his partner, but this genuine yearning is rather new. We are compatible in basically every way and I am confused by this development.
Weird freaky creative people have this odd habit of really clamping together, I guess.

k but if u haven’t seen the guy ritchie sherlock films u don’t get it but they fully wrote holmes as in love w watson. like undeniably in love. In the first ten mins holmes refuses to take a Single case for three months bc watson won’t go with him. he locks himself in his room for two straight weeks, drugs the dog, and shoots the wall for attention bc watson is moving out. he says the world outside his room has nothing to offer until watson asks him to go to dinner & immediately agrees. he humiliates mary bc he’s jealous she can marry watson and he can’t. he goes to a fight club to Feel Something bc he knows john is slipping away from him. there’s never any “oh well just bros being bros” the whole tone towards it is just “ofc he’s in love w watson that’s one of his defining character traits”

"It Can't Be Done!" A song number from Bob Godfrey's Academy Award Winning short, GREAT - a film about the life and times of Isambard Kingdom Brunel. As you would expect from Bob Godfrey's work (Karma Sutra, Roobarb and Custard, Wicked Willie, Henry's Cat, Know Your Europeans), this short film is remarkably silly, raunchy and irreverent, digging into Victorian sensibilities while also providing a surprisingly compassionate view of the legendary engineer. The film was an enormous success on release, picking up the Academy Award and BAFTA for animated short, at the time the first British film to ever achieve the former. Sadly, Britain Lion dissolved, and the film fell into obscurity only a few years later. It's a really rather impressive, unapologetically daft flick, and we'll worth your attention. This particular song deals with the Clifton Suspension Bridge, the Thames tunnel, the Broad Gauge GWR and even the SS Great Britain - each hounded by naysayers that he simply defied.

HERE IT IS ALL FINISHED!!! AHHHH!!!!!
THE FAMBILY...💖
I've been planning this illustration for over a month now - in April, I had the patreon folks vote on a theme for a big gravity falls print, and camping was the winner. Even just planning the general composition took a while, figuring out where I wanted all the characters to be. Once I shored up a good thumbnail, I made it tighter twice before putting it on paper, and working in pencil. The pencil drawing part took me four sit down sessions of drawing, and then coloring the scan took another couple of days. I worked SO DANG HARD to finish this monster before mc3, and by some miracle, I did.
Overall, I'm really happy with how this illustration turned out! I feel like it does a good job of expressing my love for the show. I'm really glad people were enthusiastic about it at the convention - I had a lot stop and look at it with these really awestruck, sad wet goo goo eyes expressions LOL! They did this: 🥺 with an actual human face dskjhlsdfkjh!!
Here's a link to my bigcartel store, where you can get one! Also, info to keep in mind: members of my $5 patreon tier get 15% discount on their orders when they use a special code.
Also, side note: thank you to my expert names and wordplay consultant for giving me the name "nitelite moth." YOU KNOW WHO YOU ARE :)
Under the cut: Uncolored pencil version, and sketches.

I'm sorta getting used to being single for the first time in years. Bit of an odd experience. I've only ever done long-term relationships and despite being a fantastic flirt I'm very intimidated by the idea of getting back to dating.

So glad they reached your safely. I hope you're delighted with them and apologies for any tears caused by the note!!
I got my new beautiful pin and keychain today in the mail from @grunklejam
I also got a very kind note as well, but I'm bawling too hard to take a picture of that right now. It was just something I needed to read at the very least at this time.
But I love everything very much so, but I'm a sobbing mess now. I drive myself crazy getting this emotional 😭

Are you in any other fandoms?
Eh, kinda. I'm literally signed to Gorillaz (with an NDA. Can't elaborate. Sorry kids.) to help run their Discord community, but the Gorillaz fandom - ironically - seems to skew much younger than Gravity Falls, and I maintain more of a creative / consultant / feedback role than an actual active member. I also have no interest in interacting with like, 14-year-olds at length. There's also just this weird toxicity that follows the band like a dark cloud of anthrax.
I used to be much more in railway circles, but I'm a very emotive and person-driven historian and really don't like the rivet-counter circles. I found other enthusiasts really unpleasant to talk to.
Similar with classic cars; that's my work. I don't actually talk to other enthusiasts outside of my colleagues. I don't wanna be part of this really weird conflict that seems to constantly be simmering away between camps.
Gravity Falls takes up an impressive chunk of my time thanks to, y'know, the shop, SBE stuff, Discord server etc. I stay out of most fandom circles as communities can be incredibly messy things. If it wasn't for COVID I'd have never even seen Gravity Falls and my life would have probably been a lot quieter...probably less fulfilled, though.

Thinking about doing another batch of 10 of the Mini Shacks. Maybe more if there's demand. Same price, same print, same gift box - who'd be interested?
