Ask time! How tricky did you find it to come up with characterization for Dr. Blowhole? I've had to do a lot of thinking for my OWN version of him since we only see the guy in three specials, and we only get small hints of what he's like here and there outside of being evil lol. As opposed to Kowalski, who we always see, giving us plenty of time to get to know him.

It started with I would rp as Kowalski with a really good Blowhole rper friend of mine. I absolutely loved their headcanons and how they characterized him, so many of their theories I adopted into my personal theories too and just added to that as I rewarched the episodes and paid close attention to not just himself and his actions but also to the others who interact with or mention him. Little bits and pieces of stuff about him is sprinkled around the series as a whole (and a promo).

I also add to my characterization with dolphin biology research. I have a background in biology and wildlife biology so I have a strong draw to researching related stuff for fun. (I also put a lot of biology research based characterization into how I write the penguins too).

So more than likely I'm going to be pulling an all nighter tonight, may try to work on tag games if the car ride will cooperate with me later.

You see, we have to leave at like 1am to get to the base where my brother is graduating from marines by 9am. And I'm not very good at sleeping in a car.

I just finished reading your Caretaker of Madagascar and I just wants to say that I ADORED IT! It was soo good one of the best fanfics I’ve ever read, your characterization of the characters is really good as well and you did a great job of making me relate and care for Bridget and I’m loving her relationship with the penguins!

Finally, a post I’ve been wanting to make for awhile now. The Franski fankid post.

I’ve told myself no more. The only one I ever add is in COM AU there is also Bridget because she counts. No spoilers, but if you know, you know 😉

Now for the kiddos above! From left to right:

Eris (Erie): Eldest but wasn’t found until after Eddy. She is Francis's from his young adult years in Seaville. He didn’t know about her at first. It was rather coincidental they found her. Originally humans called her Princess but Francis was quick to convince her of taking one from a list of suggested bottlenose dolphin names.

Andris (Andy): Young spinner dolphin they find brought in a fisher's net and rescue. They tried at first to find his pod, but not having much luck they take him on as one of their own. He had some pretty bad sunburns when they first found him. He’s older than Lyris but not by much.

Lyris (Lyrie): A dolphguin. She is the third biologically engineered offspring from Kowalski and Francis. Second youngest. Very sweet. The penguin DNA gave her little feathery whiskers on her rostrum and brought out more prehistoric genes of hind flippers.

Edmond (Eddy): A pengolphin. The first biologically engineered offspring of Kowalski and Francis. Second eldest. Very mischievous but very loyal to his siblings. He has an excessive love for dinosaurs. Dolphin DNA gave him some little sharp teeth, a two tipped tail, and a small dorsal fin bump.

Benjamin (Benny): Also pengolphin. The second biologically engineered offspring of Kowalski and Francis, third eldest. Very loving, big time fan of the Lunacorns. Same dolphin DNA additions as Edmond.

Pandora (Panini): Yellow-eyed penguin. Youngest. They found her egg abandoned during a vacation to Australia and decided to adopt her. A little sandwich thief.

Eris, Edmond, Benjamin, Andris, Lyris, Pandora

-As they get more serious, Kowalski gets to spend most weekends with Blowhole but the main week with his brothers

-Post married this probably will continue though more often Blowhole will probably come spend some nights over with the penguins too

-Kowalski enjoys snuggling or sleeping practically with a Francis blanket, this makes Francis nervous a little since he is a roughly 300lb sea mammal and kowalski is smoll bird

-So in line with this, Francis finds Kowalski's snoring reassuring he’s not too squished

-They frequently karaoke together or the Pasta Barn for dates

-Also video games and movie nights, even if Kowalski sometimes naps off and on through it

-They enjoy inventing together too, leads to a fair amount of bickering at times but they more or less get into a rhythm with it

-They have two labs at Blowhole's lair as they learned they have two very different ways of organizing so this was best for their sanities when they’re working on solo projects

-Hosting game nights and musicals nights together with their assorted shared friends

-When Blowhole goes to villain conventions, Kowalski gets to tag along but has to wait in the lobby during the actual meeting (he's okay with this, he’s gets to chat with other villain significant others out there who aren’t villains, plus fun vacation when Blowhole's not in meetings)

-When not together, definitely late night texting when Kowalski can’t sleep, lots of memes

I JUST. FINISHED A SCIENTIFIC CONUNDRUM and oh my god. I'm going to need at least three business days to recover from that last chapter. THAT WAS INSANELY GOOD i dont even know where to begin?? 😭 especially the "I Will Be There" from the Count of Monte Cristo part had me screaming ahahah and the part with Skipper? are you kidding mmeeeeeee😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭 im going to go cry now. it was beautiful.

Thank you! I actually went back and forth a bit on that Monte Cristo part of it would be too cheesy, so I’m glad I did ultimately decide to go with it 😁

Heya, thanks for asking!

💟 What do you think makes them perfect for one another?

I think they have a good mix of things in common and things that are not in common but balance each other. To better illustrate, I’ll bring back my diagram I made a few years ago:

As you can see above, the two have a LOT in common. However, when it comes to the villainy side of the scale, I think they balance each other out. Kowalski has some morals he’s going to stick to, and Blowhole has a lot of respect for him, so although he may teasingly suggest Kowalski joins him, he knows he won’t. I think Kowalski can also introduce Blowhole to other outlets of "revenge against humans" that are not as bad as trying to wipe them out (and all other life in the process).

Meanwhile, where Kowalski tends to invent things just because or to see if he can, I think Blowhole will help balance out for him to take a little more purpose and care into his inventions which ought to help reduce the danger factor (plus funding for the good materials that should hold up better and be less dangerous).

Neither are perfect, but they both need someone who will listen to them and like them for who they are and perhaps help each other heal up some of their past trauma wounds in the process.

🌷 Are you nervous to talk about your OTP? Why?

Yes, and no. If anyone asks, I won’t hesitate to ramble on and on about them…But I am skittish to bring them up much on my own. I know as surprisingly popular they’ve gotten, I know there’s people who really dislike the ship. When I first started posting A Scientific Match, I really expected to be met with a lot of flames and hate for the ship, so I was both relieved and very surprised when other people started shipping it too.

Kowalski’s my favorite character, so I really wanted to ship him with someone who I thought would be a good match for him. I really do think the two could easily be best frienemies if not romantic partners and it’d be good for both of them, they just would have to put a lot of work into the relationship at first (which if you’ve been reading my A Scientific Romance series, you’ll see them doing exactly that).
