i didn't caption some of the earlier videos, unfortunately, but everything going forward always is. and they might have some pretty nonsensical rambling associated. but i have a thing for soundtracks and the juxtaposition of the horror soundscape reitzell used for much of the show and the melodic themes really hit me.

I’m back again with another rec list!! This time, I’ll be focusing on ostensibly lesser-known long fic—for my own organizational purposes, this means a word count of (approximately) 20k+. I will be including WIPs this time around, but they’ll be clearly indicated at such. Recs are divided into two categories—canonverse (including slight adjustments to it) and alternate universe. I had an idea for something to add in a chapter I'm writing at the moment for No Reasonable Prospect, but I had to rush off-- upon coming back, I discovered the hugely helpful note I had left for myself. This is what it said: PROPRIETARY ILLICIT NO RIGHT FORWARD PRESUMPTUOUS

You can probably tell whose POV is coming up...

But not yet! Today, we're with Will, who's on a communication spree. Is anything really communicated? Not sure, but there IS a lot of talking!

So I went to a wedding this weekend. My friend and I were amusing ourselves by coming up with creative alternatives to a first dance, and I kept coming back to the idea of some sort of competition - a dance-off, a chess match, a fist fight - the winner of which would gain final authority on all decisions made in the marriage going forward. At first, the guests would think this was all a bit of fun like the wedding cake who's-holding-the-knife-thing*, until they realised the newlyweds were entirely serious about it, and then it gets very tense and uncomfortable, and definitely someone's bleeding and / or crying by the end.

Anyway, that's what the wedding would have looked like if they'd had it, and here's the newest chapter of No Reasonable Prospect, which has obviously had some influence on what I consider fun in a marriage. Enjoy!

* in case you're not familiar with this tradition, when the newlyweds are cutting into the cake together, the placement of their hands is supposed to determine who's boss. Curious if others here do this.

I can’t lie, I was kind of confused at the start of the fic but now I’m so invested and also a little confused still lol but it’s so so good, I hope you know you got people excited about every new chapter :)

Ahh, thank you!! ❤️ We've been building up to this chapter for a while... so I was super excited to share it. I'd say all the chapters we have left are pretty emotionally intense in their own right, so I'm super excited for those, too -- and having just finished writing chapter 19, for that one especially 👀

And I'm not surprised you were confused, the fic starts out pretty confusing for sure. Hopefully things are getting clearer and clearer, though ;)

In the latest chapter of No Reasonable Prospect, Hannibal takes the kids to the Museum of Dentistry, which is a real place in Baltimore. Credit for this appropriately creepy picture On the Grid. I don't know when or if I'll ever get a chance to visit Baltimore, so if anyone out there has visited, please tell me. I'll be very impressed.

I'll be taking a very short break from posting after this to travel and get caught up with writing the later chapters. In three weeks' time, though, we're coming back to the regular schedule with a chapter in which Hannibal does a bad thing (no way!), conflict threatens to reach boiling point, and some familiar faces make an appearance (just because they have an actual daughter now doesn't mean these two can't still get weird about Abigail Hobbs!).

I'm still working on this one - guess what, it is turning out longer than I'd thought, what else is new - but I got impatient to start sharing it, because I do think it's a lot of fun.

Here's what you can expect:

Hannibal and Will get married.

Hannibal and Will get divorced.

A creepy-yet-adorable child is having a horrifyingly interesting childhood.

Astonishingly poor parenting with brief flashes of surprisingly good parenting that does little to tip the scales.

Alternating POV so you can enjoy Will's tired suffering AND watch Hannibal thoroughly misunderstand the very normal fact of having a crush.

A lot of snappishness, hurt feelings, petty vengeance and unresolved issues.

Family fluff! Family angst! Family dysfunction!

I hope you give it a go. I've posted a short prologue for now, with the first two chapters to follow closely behind. After that, it'll be weekly updates!

If you're wondering, Sirius's Amazing House is in the Lake District, exact location unknown. The first photo's stolen from here but the very photogenic sheep is obviously my own, since no one on the internet has apparently realised the sheep are the key attraction of the region. Anyway, it's really beautiful. I sort of hate Sirius for living there.

My goodness!!!! I just completed Time Left Today and what a masterpiece it was!! A rich full plot with heavy knock outs in the feels department, I scarcely remember a chapter that I hadn’t cried on especially in the later parts, man it was amazing … at some point I entertained the idea of hooking myself to an IV line just stop my self from getting dehydrated 😂 I’ll be starting on the sequel soon and I can’t wait to read more of your work!

Aah, thank you so much! I loved writing the story and it always makes me happy to hear from people who enjoyed it. But please get yourself a big container of whatever your drink of choice is before you start on the sequel. It's enough that Severus is doing a shoddy job taking care of himself ❤️
