Mosque shooting suspect pleads not guilty

QUEBEC -- The man accused in the slayings at a Quebec City mosque last year pleaded not guilty Monday to six charges of first-degree murder and six of attempted murder. Alexandre Bissonnette, who was handcuffed and had shackles around his ankles, entered the 12 not-guilty pleas in Quebec Superior Court ahead of pre-trial motions to be debated this week. The motions could have an impact on how the proceedings will unfold and the evidence that will be heard beginning in April, when the two-month trial is slated to begin. With barely any food, sanitation facilities, or protection from inclement weather, they are at a very high risk of outbreak of disease. Zakat Foundation of America (ZF) is on the grounds working day and night to bring relief to this most oppressed segment of our human family. With your support, we have provided food packages, medical treatment, mosquito nets, blankets, cooking equipment, tarps for temporary shelter, and more. You, and their Lord, are their only hope for survival. We need your help to continue this lifeline. Please watch this latest update from the field, then visit us at Zakat.org to make a generous donation. DONATE NOW Read the full article
