"Hey," Victoire hugged her close friend tightly with a grin on her face, "I was wondering where you'd gotten to. Come on, let's get some champagne. It's a must on a night like this, don't you think?"

"Well, for starters I'd be spending a shit ton more on drinks. And food. And rent, actually," Halley listed off, taking the bottle from Val and chugging some herself. "Indifferent I guess? This year's been kind of... meh?" Was the best way she could describe it. "But it must be pretty great for you, having a New Year's kiss this year. Not that I'm at all jealous that you'll be kissing someone else, nope."

"Sometimes I ask myself, what would you do without me?" Val snorted lightly before taking a swig from the bottle. She passed it off to Halley with a grin. "So how are we feeling about the New Year? Love it? Hate it? Feeling indifference?"

Hal practically thrust a drink into her sister's hand after she made it through the crowd. "It doesn't help that so many of these costumes are ridiculously huge," she shook her head, taking a sip of her drink and leaving a green lipstick mark on the rim of the glass. "Did you see that girl over there who looks like a cunty Valjean? I have no idea who she's supposed to be but there is literally no need to have a hat that fucking large."

"Excuse me– coming through- move along," Stella pushed through the crowd to get to her sister, exhaling dramatically once she made it. "I love a party as much as the last person but the lack of spacial awareness is truly shocking."

"What can I say? It's in our blood to be bomb at Halloween costumes," Halley grinned at the compliment. "Not really, though. Elara was Joy, obviously, and then the others kinda just worked themselves out. I did think it would be fun to do opposite emotions, me as Fear as that is an emotion I don't feel much," she continued to explain. "I do however love that you've dragging Hunter around by a chain on his neck. Very kinky of you, Val," the blonde winked.

"You and your siblings always knock it out of the park," Val shook her head with a smile. "Was there a fight for who got to be which emotion? I feel like you could all embody them in your own ways."

"Thanks, Vic," Halley grinned at the compliment. "I do love our tradition. I'm kinda surprised you Weasleys don't do a similar thing. You could absolutely team up to do a killer costume given the amount of you."

"I always love the costumes you and your family do," Victoire said, grinning, "I think this year takes the cake. You guys look amazing!"

"My pick up game is strong, I'll have you know," Halley nodded as she pointed at the other. "But this was just supposed to be me making conversation, not trying to slide into your pants, as much as those pants look like they could use another occupant," the blonde said, looking down at his lap before back up at his charming face.

"Either you have have too much to drink or this is going to be the most impressive dedication to the start of a pick up line I've seen in a long while." Cooper grinned. "Or maybe I am overreaching but whatever the reason, I'm thoroughly entertained so thank you for that."

"Hey you," Halley grinned as she saw Fred sat at the bar waiting for her. Their last couple of rendezvous' had been in a slightly less public place, for obvious reasons. "What's up? What did you wanna talk about?" she asked, signaling to the bartender to pour her a beer.

Neither of us have ever been the type to beat around the bush lol VALERIA: I suppose that's more applicable 😂 VALERIA: That sounds incredible VALERIA: I will be so honest, I don't know what the rest of my day is going to look like either. "Just because you don't think something's a big deal doesn't mean you need to keep it from me," Halley told her. "I'm always happy to hear any thoughts of yours." The blonde often wittered on to Val so it was only fair that she could do the same. "OooOoh," Hal grinned in a sing song voice. "First of all, did you like it? He looks like he'd know how to kiss," she asked. "What do you think it meant? Now you've had time to mull on it, that is."

"So I've kind of been withholding something..." Val sighed a little but continued nonetheless, "I didn't bring it up because well I guess I didn't think it was that big of a deal originally," she shrugged. Not in the way that it hadn't mattered, but more that it had just gone under the radar and it wasn't something she and Hunter had talked about. She figured for the longest time that it had just been friendly and in the spirit of everything going on. After recent conversations with him she started to think that maybe there was something more. "Hunter kissed me at New Years. And well, we haven't really talked about it since," Valeria told her best friend honestly. "I guess only recently I've been trying to figure out what it really might've meant."

"Is that a compliment?" the blonde asked with an arched brow, though that didn't stop her leaning in for more. "I thought you'd never ask," Halley grinned into the kiss before they broke for air, taking his hand in hers and apparating them to his apartment.

Fred was a little shocked at Halley's comment, and even more so when she leaned in and kissed him. Fred smiled before leaning into the kiss himself. "Well, that was certainly something, Halley," he said. He was pretty tipsy, and maybe that's what helped fueled his courage for his next question. "How about moving this party to my flat, hm?"

Halley realised she was talking to herself pretty early on but she felt like there was something going on with her best friend so she didn't pull her up on it like usual. "Of course!" she exclaimed when Val was willing to talk. "What's up? Brain is... ready to pick?" she laughed softly.

Valeria had a lot on her mind and while she still listened and gave her best friend all the attention she could, there was certainly a part of her that was missing from the conversation, having been wiping down the counter for longer than was clearly necessary. "Can I pick your brain about something, Hal?" she finally spoke up with a sigh, tossing the towel down into the sink.

"Nah, I play fair at games like that. My siblings would hex me if I even attempted to cheat," she chuckled loudly, knowing it had happened before. "And there is no one like you, Fred Weasley," Halley echoed back, looking at him softly for a moment before she leant in to kiss him.

"Please remind me never to play trivia pursuit with you, I feel like you memorize the answers," Fred teased. "Well there is definitely no one like you Halley Macmillan-Bones."
