This is one of my all time favorites scenes in ACOWAR. So I knew I wanted to commission another art inspired by this scene and all the time they spent out in the sub. I wanted something that showed their love and comfort between the two of them.

This art is inspired by a scene that occurs in ACOWAR! It’s actually one of my favorite moments! I just really loved the idea of both Elain and Nesta killing the big villain!

Azriel said “What we think to be our greatest weakness can sometimes be our biggest strength. The most unlikely person can alter the course of history”.

I hate seeing Elain being reduced as insignificant, when she had a crucial part in ending the war, without her stabbing the King neither of our favorite characters would be alive.

This is my own interpretation of Elain moments before Nesta takes TT and decapitates the king! I also thought about including the shadows she stepped from as background. Those at the back forming a more concrete shadow, Azriel as one of the theories is that she used his shadows to winnow.

Steph and I had the best time discussing and brainstorming this idea. We wanted to play around with different HC for what’s to come in the ACOTAR series. This scene is based on a canon scene that happens during ACOWAR.

February last year was a roller coaster of emotions with this two. ACOSF was just released and with it Azriel’s POV chapter that had most of the fandom up in arms. This is my way of honoring those moments. A gift for all of us who received hate for simply enjoying what we love.

Hopefully we’ll see the aftermath of this scene in Elain’s book, as I would love to get her perspective.

The artist behind this beautiful art is non other than @nemaiza I absolutely love her drawing style. She truly is the sweetest person to work with, the way she didn’t just transformed that line to life, she created a work of art. Thank you again for taking me on this journey it was an absolute pleasure working with you!
