We’re excited to be hosting another round of the Sunshine Hobi Fic Exchange this year again! Sign-ups are now officially open and will remain open until Thursday, November 30th. Just a heads up, all official communication will be done via email so please make sure to double check that you’re written your email address correctly in the form. 

After you’ve signed up, you will receive an invite to join the Exchange’s AO3 collection. You can then submit your prompts (at least 3) so start thinking about what stories you want to read!

a/n: this went totaly different from what I planned, blame on my halloween enthusiasm. I’m sorry I took too long to write this, anon, I hope you like it. +++ it’s not edited, so mistakes might happen.

cogito ergo doleo_ (latim) “I think, therefore it hurts”, it’s a twisted version of René Descarte’s “cogito ergo sum” (eg I think, therefore I am).

‘This shouldn’t have been happening again’

Daehyun thinks to himself, laying on his bed in the dim lit bedroom, staring at the ceiling where the last vestige of his dream faded into thin air and, most certainly, back into his memories. Daehyun tries blinking a couple of times and takes in a shallow breath before reaching for his phone on the nightstand, the screen reads five and twenty-four in the morning, turning his eyes back to the ceiling, Daehyung lets his arm fall flat on the bed.

The phone’s screen turns off and the bedroom is once again drowned in nothing but the poor moonlight that manages to slip through some gap between the curtains, Daehyun awaits for the tiredness from the day before to take over him for couple more hours to sleep, hopefully, a dreamless sleep.

Everything gets engulfed in darkness and nothing more when Daehyun closes his eyes.

A dreadful paranoia crept inside of her when the air was crisp and the leaves were golden.

After a beautiful summer spent admiring the laughter of children playing in the grassy fields of the nearby park, Byulyi had to retreat. No longer could she bask in the warmth of the summer sunshine or imagine how absolutely amazing a splash of fresh lemonade tasted on the tongue. Now, she was forced to return to the stuffy, dark attic of her childhood home. She was usually safe there.

The day is just breaking by the time Yoongi opens his eyes.

Early morning streaks of pinks and oranges dance across the horizon, scattering the last shades of dark blue that mark the dawn. Fluffy clouds dot the sky in sparse clumps, telling of a calm and warm summer day, wind low and the threat of rain nearly non-existent. The green of the trees outside the cave are darkened by the shadows and rays of sunlight create a crowning glow around them; dust motes and pollen float effortlessly in the light, giving the forest a gentle fairytale aura. The mouth of the small shelter faced northeast, detailing a picturesque view of the sun as it rose in the mornings, save for the scattered trees that stood tall on the slope of the rock face that fell away from the entrance.

Yoongi wakes to the sounds of birds chirping, starting their crescendo of music like an alarm to his large ears. He curses himself in the back of his mind for choosing such a cave to stay in that echoes their songs. They ring almost endlessly on the rock walls, even deeper into the soft dirt toward the back of the small cavern the song reaches and pierces his ears, stinging his brain as he’s forced to open his eyes and get going with the available daylight.

He supposes it’s not a bad thing to be up so early. More opportunity to eat and scout the land for others. The wolf stretches as he stands finally, yawning wide as his claws dig into the dirt, fangs a faded white on full display. They gleam in the shattered light of the cave, a sharp contrast to the thick black of his fur.

In the dim cave, he’s camouflaged, the dark coat seamlessly blending with the dark rock walls. Limestone, he thinks. As he steps to the wide mouth of the cavern, the light of the peeking sun shines off of his coat, showing off the vague streaks of copper and umber that give him a soft ebony appearance. His large paws fade into a jet black that see none of the browns in his undercoat, only one of his paws a sharp white, as clear as the winter snows in the north, untouched by the humans’ coal.

The Solar Clan (Eternal Eclipse)

It was human error to assume a wooden stake through the heart could kill a vampire.

Folktales of angry mobs wielding pitchforks and torches and wooden stakes, shouting profanities and ill wishes at the wretched monsters that lurked the black of night, riddled human storybooks with false moral superiority. It wasn’t the creatures of the night who were the monsters, it was the humans. With their easily-impressionable, feeble minds, mortals eager to boast their self-righteousness tainted the twilight with their hatred for any who were different .

A time came when those who were different struck back. Armed with sharp claws and sharper teeth, those who were different drew blood. Upon the morning glory of their bloodbath, those who were different retreated into caves and caverns, leaving only bloodless carcasses for the buzzards to pick at.

Over time, isolation influenced evolution. Those who were different, those who sought blood, had violence coerced into their genetics as they hunted live meals. Village elders of human communities taught the children never to wander beyond the swamps where bones bleached white by sunlight built great ivory castles among the marsh. The savages who lived there, they explained to the children, were called vampires.

To err was human—but i t was the error of the vampire to allow a human into their heart. Wooden stakes didn’t kill vampires, human compassion did.
