fuck it. be creative even if you never really *make* anything. write out plot synopses of stories and then move on. design OCs you'll never use. make mood boards and concept art and don't do anything with them. life's too short to forget everything that inspired you and creation doesn't have to be "complete" to be worth the time you put into it.
Me to my department: Hey guys look at this cool thing I did for our department.
Person from multiple departments: Awesome.
Person from multiple departments proceeds to use cool thing for their other departments.
Me to Person: umm this wasn't what it was designed for, but I can look into other options to see if we can make it work. Please don't make changes to the account until I can look into this.
Person: we shouldn't let ourselves work in a silo. And when looking at things that benefit one department we should also look at the benefits for the team as a whole.
I start looking into options. Other departments continue using the cool thing. I lock the account to avoid more unauthorized use while looking at options. Person gets upset and accuses me of gate keeping. Forgot to send them update explaining the account lockout(my bad, sent apology).
The above is a summary of what's been going on. And now I don't feel good about the cool thing. I feel like I'm in trouble for doing something good. And have had multiple conversations with various people to find out options and explain what's going on. I have had 1 actual meeting so far and I have another one tomorrow. This whole thing has turned into something I don't want to be involved with anymore. I just want to close the account and forget about the whole thing.
I just realized this book gives me major Clue(1985) vibes, but a bit more complex. I LOVE that movie. Tim Curry is fantastic, and the movie is hilarious.
Finally finished The 7 1/2 Deaths of Evelyn Hardcastle. It was a trip. I don't know if it's because it took me so long to read it or if I just missed the clues, but I did not see that ending coming. I had my own theories, but not that. Now my brain keeps going over it to find the clues, but there was so much going on that I just can't. When all was said and done it almost felt like it was overkill on the ending. Anybody else? No? Just me then, okay.
