It's character assassination for a character who has *checks notes* beat his first wife to death with a rock because she sassed him, violently killed the literal messenger because he was pissed at his brother, mocked his dead wives' grieving relatives, literally spent most of the first episode beating people to a pulp, said a long list of misogynistic things regarding his first wife, sister-in-law, lover etc, and been absolutely obsessed with how much better he believes himself, his family and his bloodline are to everyone else because they're "pure" Targaryen, to react violently towards his wife who was given the family secret he wasn't deemed worthy enough to know... Yeah I don't think it's the show runners who misunderstood Daemon here. Y'all made him your TikTok boyfriend and didn't see him as he is, a problematic flawed character. Don't get mad that he can't and could never reach the pedestal y'all set for him 🤷‍♀️.

Y'all didn't care about the inconsistent characterization regarding Alicent, Rhaenys, Rhaenyra and other female characters or Laena and Rhea being reduced to literal plot devices but the minute Daemon reacts in a way fitting his characterization, all hell breaks loose. But let's be real y'all didn't care about the misogyny coming out of his mouth until it effected the woman you ship him with.

Personally I'm going to wait to see how the nettles scenario plays out (but that probably won't be until next season or another future season, more likely the latter) before I believe it. Daemon is a character who I'm very much like I'll believe when I see it with. Next episode might prove me wrong, the nettles scenario might prove me right, either way I'll enjoy watching.

I see your point in regards to the knife scene but him leaning against the wall smirking after laughing Laena's funeral did rub me off the wrong way. He didn't seemed concerned at all that his daughters were involved and that they were cut and bleeding. He hasn't seemed overly concerned with his daughters as they try to mourn their mother. I know a scene was cut/edited down but even in this episode I don't think he even stood near them.

I adore both Rhaenyra and Harwin but they made dumb decisions regarding their relationship and their sons that left them both open and in danger. They're both flawed characters and I'm not going to pretend Harwin was an absolute saint because he wasn't (which is a reason why I love him) but in terms of the men in this show its a low bar lmao. Like genuinely the only male characters I like are Harwin and Lucerys (the kids didn't get much to do and I'm judging bit by bit as we get content but he wormed his way into my heart the minute he was crying saying he didn't want to inherit driftmark because that meant everyone would be dead like my heart can't take it).

I could still see Harwin making a move in a gathering, it would just end like the debacle with Criston but with more severe consequences (immediate consequences I should say, attacking Criston cost him his position as lord commander of the city watch but it's his father who sends him back to Harrenhall and obviously it Larys who orders his death but the immediate consequences from the crown was losing his position). It wouldn't be the smart decision but like you said these characters are all flawed. He, like Rhaenyra, acts too rashly and impulsively.

I'm sorry but at the brothel Daemon ditched Rhaenyra and left unsafe, during the wedding when shit hit the fan Daemon literally ditched Rhaenyra and left her to fend for herself, she gets knifed shoved in her face and the motherfucker smirks?? Not even going to get into him knowing Rhaenyra since she was born when he was already a grown ass man or the grooming. As for knowing Rhaenyra could handle the rest? I don't think it was a great "aw he knows she can handle herself they're such a power couple" moment when she was unarmed at both the brothel and the wedding and in danger both times. She was still a teenager girl exploring the slums outside the castle for the first time, it's sheer luck she got back to the red keep from the brothel safe and physically unharmed. Harwin rescued her from the chaos at the wedding when Daemon legit ditched her when the fighting began because again she had no weapon to protect herself with. Daemon literally just vanished. I don't know if I'm with the person who supposedly means the world to me and a fight breaks out, I'd either use myself as a human shield to protect them or get them the f away from it. Rip to Daemon but I'm built different.

Rhaenyra is a Queen and she 100% can handle herself especially as she's no longer a child (teenagers are still kids), doesn't mean I'm going to root for the guy who continuously ditches her when shit hits the fan. She deserves far better.

The desire to go full Harwin Strong beating Criston Cole's ass because of some of y'all's reaction to Laena's death is so freaking strong right now.

"AT LEAST NOW HE CAN MARRY RHAENYRA" Christ do you not hear yourself? Laena literally committed suicide so that she wouldn't have to spend hours in agony trying to birth a child that would never live before dying herself. She in, excruciating pain, had to drag herself to Vhagar so that she could make the ultimate decision rather than Daemon who, like Viserys when Aemma was in the exact same position as Laena, had the authority over what would happen to her body. But it's fine because now Daemon is single and able to pursue Rhaenyra (let's ignore that Laenor is still alive though and will have to be got rid of and that Daemon is rumoured to be responsible for his death though). That's the priority we're going with. Good to know *face palms*.

Also it's annoying that Laena's role got cut so significantly like her death (and Harwin's, another victim of this) is so important but we barely got to know these characters and in Laena's case we've had three different actors with limited screentime so we didn't get much development at all. Knowing that they were making her a woman of color, they should've taken more care to develop her and to state her importance. She deserved better.

Wait Ryan Corr is listed as being in eight episodes and as of now he's been in four... I'm clinging to the hope we'll see him in flashbacks or haunting someone (maybe Alicent) because we lost literally the best man on this show who we barely got screentime of before this episode and didn't see nearly anything of his relationship with Rhaenyra and I refuse to accept it.
