I’ve never really seen anyone talking about this, but I noticed that one of the main reasons why I am team green is because team green feels like an actual team that is this whole thing together.
Team Green feels connected, united, like a family.
Team Black on the other hand is… meh.
And let me explain why:
Rhaenyra being delusional and thinking that Daemon is actually in love with her when he literally just groomed her since she was a child because he has always been after her title and now wants to be her king consort. They have one of the most toxic, creepy and problematic relationships in the entire fucking show.
Then there is the very awkward and uncomfortable moment of Rhaenyra and Daemon having sex on Laena’s funeral, while Rhaenys, Corlys, Baela, Rhaena and Laenor are mourning the loss of their daughter, mother and sister. How fucking disrespectful is this. And then the fact that they have Laenor “killed” just so they can get married and have their own perfectly blonde targaryen babies.
And Rhaenyra lying about Jace, Luke and Joff to everyone in her very own “team”, trying to gaslight not only Corlys, and Rhaenys but also her own sons into thinking they are trueborn, when even Jace himself. as a child, starts asking questions.
Then there are obviously Rhaenys and Corlys, who for some fucking reason neglected their trueborn granddaughters in favor of some dark haired white bastards their daughter-in-law is trying to pass off as their son’s children. Rhaenys is trying sooo hard to please her misogynistic husband because he so desperately wants his name to go down in history. Then the disrespectful betrothal of Jace and Luke to Baela and Rhaena. Rhaenyra is literally robbing these poor girls of their rightful claim to Driftmark and usurping them. And now, with Luke being dead, Rhaena’s claim dies with him.
Baela and Rhaena losing their mother, and now their father suddenly remarries, and has two blonde boys. Rhaenys losing BOTH her children and then seeing her son-in-law and daughter-in-law getting married soon after that.
Everyone in team black is after their own ambitions. They lie to each other, they don’t trust each other, they suspect each other in different things, they cheat on each other (with each other) and lie about it, they give each other forced ultimatums, and yada yada. All their scenes feel forced, tense, awkward and uncomfortable. They look so miserable with each other.
Team Green in this sense is the exact opposite.
Although their dynamic is far from perfect, obviously, you cannot deny that they care about each other very very deeply.
Alicent loves all of her children, and even while acknowledging their flaws, she still loves them.
Aemond might’ve been a little envious of Aegon, but he would never turn his back on him. He would never betray his brother, be would never try to take his crown from him.
Aegon was far from being a perfect man and king, but, as we know, it was his love for his family, and the fear of them getting hurt that made him a more responsible person and a more protective father, husband and brother. Sure, he is a cheater, but at least he’s honest about it and doesn’t lie to his wife. He is not a hypocrite.
Criston is working for Alicent not for ambition or for self-gain, but because he genuinely loves her, whether it’s romantic or platonic, doesn’t matter.
Helaena would never betray her family, her brothers, her mother. They are all she has. She would never switch sides even if given an opportunity.
And even Otto, arguably one of the main villains of the whole show, still loves his family. Sure, he is ambitious, but he would never become Corlys level of ambitious.
Team Green feels like they are fighting against the enemy all together, they have the same goals, they feel united and you can feel their devotion to each other. Especially after blood and cheese, when they become closer than ever. They’re in this together and only if they stick to each other, they can make it. It feels genuine and honest. They don’t hide anything from each other, they always have their loved ones’ best interests at heart, they would never in a million years betray each other. Yes, they are all doomed from the start, but their dedication and love to each other is truly something else.

Yknow what? I agree with Criston Cole.
He shouldn’t say that about Rhae!!- Why not? He’s allowed to dislike ONE woman who was his BOSS.
He shouldn’t bully Rhae’s kids!!- nah he should have bullied them harder. (Also if he was nice the court could say they were HIS kids, putting him in more danger!
He shouldn’t have killed Joffrey or that other guy (I forgot his name 💀)- ight, Daemon shouldn’t have killed Vaemond but y’all cheered that on so idk.
I think he should have been WORSE, I want him pushing the strongs in the dirt and laugh when aegon copies him. I want him to be disgusted by Rhaenrya, Daemon, and Viserys; to fight back a gag when he has to be near viserys, to use his power as a kings guard to be an asshole to those under him cuz he’s alicents favorite.
Melt him be a lil brat he deserves it.

I hate the juxtaposition the writers try to make by painting Alicent as the sexually repressed patriarchy abiding woman and then try to show RHAENYRA as the sexually liberated one.
Are you… are you being serious? Rhaenyra who was groomed and manipulated by her UNCLE her whole life is supposed to be somehow more sexually liberated than Alicent who is stuck in an arranged marriage to a way older man? That’s the dream of sexual liberation? Being groomed by a close relative?
I mean at least Alicent and Viserys aren’t related. But apart from that their marriage is every bit as problematic as Rhaenyra’s relationship with her groomer.
The age gap between Rhaenyra and Daemon can’t be more than a couple years smaller than that of Alicent and Viserys. And the fact that he is her relative that took advantage of her vulnerability after the death of her mother to coerce her into sexual acts to ruin her reputation in order to gain political advantage is vomit inducing.
The thing that baffles me is how many people actually look at the scene where we we’re simultaneously shown Viserys maritally raping Alicent and Daemon coercing his niece to sexual acts in the brothel and don’t see this scene as the clear parallel it is.
People who don’t realize that remind me of Colleen Hoover fans that are only able to recognize abusive relationships when the abuse is explicitly shoved in their face in the form of physical violence and cannot recognize it when it is shown in a more subtle form like grooming, manipulation, dubious consent, and deception.
We could clearly see throughout the show how much Daemon’s grooming has had a long lasting effect on Rhaenyra’s life and personality. She isn’t able to build profound romantic relationships with anyone other than her uncle (remember how she forgot Harwin cough the father of her children cough even existed the moment Daemon showed up?) and we see her regress to an uncertain teenage girl at the moment he returns to her life ( she spills all her secrets to him the minute they’re alone without even thinking of possible consequences )
In Emma D’Arcy’s words:
"This is essentially a grooming scenario. The idea that a teenage girl is in any way able to consent to that sexual interaction is a mess. There is no way that power can be equally distributed in that relationship."
- Emma D’Arcy
( And please, do not come screaming in the comments about how things were different the books. I’m talking about THE SHOW and basing this on what we saw in the show, such as for example Daemon admitting that Rhaenyra was a child when he left to go into exile, and what the actors have to say about this relationship. I can understand why it can be frustrating that some things were adapted differently but using the book as an argument doesn’t hold any weight because there have been many notable changes in the adaptation.)

It's character assassination for a character who has *checks notes* beat his first wife to death with a rock because she sassed him, violently killed the literal messenger because he was pissed at his brother, mocked his dead wives' grieving relatives, literally spent most of the first episode beating people to a pulp, said a long list of misogynistic things regarding his first wife, sister-in-law, lover etc, and been absolutely obsessed with how much better he believes himself, his family and his bloodline are to everyone else because they're "pure" Targaryen, to react violently towards his wife who was given the family secret he wasn't deemed worthy enough to know... Yeah I don't think it's the show runners who misunderstood Daemon here. Y'all made him your TikTok boyfriend and didn't see him as he is, a problematic flawed character. Don't get mad that he can't and could never reach the pedestal y'all set for him 🤷‍♀️.
Y'all didn't care about the inconsistent characterization regarding Alicent, Rhaenys, Rhaenyra and other female characters or Laena and Rhea being reduced to literal plot devices but the minute Daemon reacts in a way fitting his characterization, all hell breaks loose. But let's be real y'all didn't care about the misogyny coming out of his mouth until it effected the woman you ship him with.

Daemon Malewife Targaryen (Sept 2022-Oct 2022), brutally murders his innocent first wife by bashing her skull in; grooms his teenage niece, deliberately trying to destroy her honour so she's ruined for other men and then abandons her in a brothel; fucks said niece on the night of his second wife's funeral and then marries her before his second wife's bones have finished charring- and you have the nerve to be shocked that this geriatric nonce, who you decided was your internet boyfriend, isn't actually a good man?
Telling how none of his violence, neglect and hatred of women (sorry, whores/bitches) mattered until he raised a hand to Rhaenyra, the "exception". This has always been who his character is and is exactly in line with his portrayal all season. The man who kills women, abuses women. Who would have thought.

i am asking pro daemyra/pro targaryen/pro daemon writers to be mindful of their writing. cause at this point it’s starting to look like ya’ll riding out in black and red hoods, and screaming Vu Vlux Vlan with how pro-valyrian the writing is. ya’ll are literally regurgitating white supremacist rhetoric and not even in a “this is a critique” way but in a “they are superior!” way which is crazy. step away from ao3, now

We stan Criston for respecting sex workers and being the only feminist man in probably the entirety of GOT
And we hate Daemon for constantly making misogynistic remarks about any woman, generally his wives, that he doesn't like, emotionally neglecting his second wife, grooming Rhaenyra, cheating on Rhaenyra, neglecting his children, committing treason every other sentence, and that's not even half of it.

it seems like people miss the detail that Blood & Cheese tied and gagged Alicent and then strangled her bedmaid, killed Helaena's guards then that happened.. Young Jaehaerys was the main target, but Daemon took more lives that day too. He is a monster, I want to vomit every time they call him a hero and that he died for Rhaenyra's cause, when in fact, he abandoned her alone with her children and went to die a badass death. Aemond wasn't even the biggest threat to "Rhaenyra's cause" that was Daeron, especially after the first battle of Tumbleton that she lost two dragons for the greens, and the hightower army is far from small
I mean that’s the same people that idolizes Rhaenys for killing hundreds of people to have eye contact for a few minutes with Alicent. You can’t expect them to have empathy for the common people, they’re convinced they are descendants of Targaryens of some shit.
The idolization of Daemon is something even George falls for nonnie 😵‍💫😵‍💫😵‍💫 he’s framed as a hero bc GRRM thinks he is. He’s not, and imo, both Aemond and him are the weakest links of their respective teams, both preferring to run away with a woman they loved and abandon their families in the most dire moment. The battle of the god’s eye is not meant to be a badass moment, it’s two selfish men dying to get written down in history.
And if I hear once more about how Daemon ‘died for Rhaenyra!’ and didn’t meant to abandon her in a city that rightfully hated her for a girl she envied and feared, I’ll riot. He preferred to face death instead of leaving Nettles and going back to his boring wife who desperately needed him. He knew he wouldn’t be able to handle Daeron so he settled for the next best thing: die a badass death instead of living to see his failure.

Daemon grabbing Rhaenyra by the throat, Aegon ignoring Helaena unless he is drunk, Viserys cutting Aemma open, Rhaenyra giving birth to a deformed baby
All of it is supposed to show how abusive incestuous relationships are.

So Daemon murders his wife and everyone is still happy with him? Everyone still loves him?? In fact they actively ship him with his child niece??? Cool Cool. Glad to see Targ stans have not gained any brain cells since the end of GOT and may have, in fact, lost whatever ones they had.
Like. He spent all his time married to this woman calling her ugly and complaining about her to everyone and cheating on her. Then decides to kill her so he’s eligible to marry the child he groomed so he can use her for power. And how does he get rid of his wife? Paralyzing her and beating her to death with a rock. And then he lies that SHE was unkind to HIM to everyone.
And now everyone in fandom is going around saying he’s so perfect and that the dance scene is romantic like the man in that scene didn’t BEAT HIS WIFE TO DEATH WITH A ROCK SO HE COULD MARRY HIS UNDERAGE NIECE FOR HER TITLE AND POWER.
I hate it here

hot take (maybe?) but just because incest was normal for the Targaryens, doesn’t mean that it’s suddenly okay to ship relatives, especially if said ships are abusive and pedophilic.
“but Rhaenyra and Daemon had so much chemistry!” uhh he groomed her when she was a teenager. He, her 35~ year old uncle, groomed her, his 16/17~ year old niece. And if you dare saying that she “was actually quite mature and 17 isn’t even that young”, well umm, he was clearly attracted to her even before, when she was younger.
Like, I get it, the actors are hot, but weren’t you the same people that were disgusted by Cersei and Jaime’s relationship in GoT? Like listen, I hate the Cersei x Jaime ship, but hey, at least they were the same age.

Some of team black gives me the vibes that they’ll yell at Muslim women for practicing a “patriarchal” religion ngl.
I mean look at how they treat Alicent for simply having her religion be a big part of her life,,,

I have a question for the people who look at Daemon and see a caring father/stepfather… did we watch the same show??? Because I don’t think that was being communicated AT ALL. We’re talking about the man who made his daughter feel inferior for not having a dragon, abandoned his daughters at their mothers funeral in a foreign country they’ve never been to and left them with estranged relatives that are complete strangers to them to go fuck his niece and didn’t even comfort them when he came back from fucking his niece and found them bloodied and crying… does this sound like good parenting to you?? He then married said niece days after the funeral and separated the sisters by sending Baela to Driftmark to keep a connection to the Velaryons, which I guess would have been understandable if he send Baela there to prepare her to rule as Lady of Driftmark but no, apparently, Daemon doesn’t give a shit when his daughters are robbed of their inheritance. He even goes as far as to stab their uncle in the back BEFORE THEIR EYES and then doesn’t object to Rhaenyra betrothing them to her bastard sons who are stealing their Driftmark seat without as much as asking them about it first.
And when it comes to him as a stepfather I don’t know how much you have to twist the interactions that we see between him and the Strong boys to say he’s a caring stepfather. The only time we see them really interact is when Jace is trying to stop him from going against his mothers wishes and Daemon seems annoyed by him at best. He obviously didn’t bother teaching them how to fight or they wouldn’t have been humiliated by Aemond at the dinner scene the way they were. And on top of that he couldn’t even be bothered to come to his wife’s side as she was holding their stillborn daughter.

Ok so here’s the thing. I love both Alicent and Rhaenyra, but my love of them is very different. I think they are both extremely interesting characters.
But the difference between them for me is this:
With Alicent, I genuinely believe that she is a good person. Like everything she’s done I completely understand, and it’s always been with the intention of defending herself, her children, or Rhaenyra. But you guys probably know how much I love Alicent by now and this post is mostly about Rhaenyra so I’m gonna move on.
With Rhaenyra, I think she’s more morally gray. She’s done some things that I would definitely label as bad. I wouldn’t call her a good person. Honestly, I agree that she’s selfish. But that’s part of the reason why I like her.
The thing is, she’s a victim just like Alicent. It’s just that she’s less victimized in the show, and amongst her own fans. (For some reason people think being a victim makes you less of a girlboss, but whatever).
Just like Alicent, she had a crusty old man grooming her.
And Viserys and Otto weren’t exactly the same, but they were certainly both shitty fathers.
My point being, I definitely feel sympathy for her. And she’s not the villain.
The similarity between Alicent and Rhaenyra is that they were both young girls who were groomed and manipulated by the men in their lives. But the difference is the results of this.
Alicent was made to be more mature than her age. She was exposed to some very harsh realities very early on. And now she’s paranoid and pessimistic. So of course she’s scared for her life and the lives of her children.
Rhaenyra was made to be more childish. Viserys made it so that she never had to face any consequences. And Daemon has tried to keep her powerless and immature. And now, as a grown woman, she’s extremely disconnected from reality. While Alicent is overly aware of how in danger she is, Rhaenyra is incredibly naive and oblivious.
I don’t really know what else to say. I guess I just needed to rant a little. Basically the point I’m trying to make is that Rhaenyra antis annoy me because she was a victim and she’s not evil or dumb, but Rhaenyra Stans that make her out to be a saint also annoy me because she’s far from perfect, and she’s far from selfless.

Also, that Rhaenys and Alicent scene was fucking terrible lmao. Who on earth is RHAENYS of all people to judge Alicent for following the wishes of men? What exactly has Rhaenys been doing this entire series if not acting out the wishes of her husband and getting told what to do by men? Go get your throne then, if you're bad.
This woman thinks Rhaenyra had her son murdered, she knows she passed off Harwin's bastards as Laenor's heirs, she knows she married Daemon before her daughter's bones finished charring, she knows that Daemon is a dog shit father to her granddaughters, she knows she wanted Driftmark to go to Baela directly. Her life is nothing but Ls. And yet here she is handing out lectures and projecting about dreaming about the Iron Throne, while her house/family firms the most humiliating disrespect by Rhaenyra and Daemon weekly, and her dumbass husband barks orders from wherever he is now. Let's have a little introspection, please.
