Hung out with my peeps last night and caught an amazing performance by Hathor Rising at Wits End on Elm in the Deep featuring my talented sistren Katana Haley and an awesome three piece band: wireless lead, bass, and drums. 

Haven't seen anything like it in the DFW. Take the moves, rockstar grit, soulfulness, and showmanship of a young Tina Turner and combine it with the kickass band of Black Sabbath minus Ozzy and you would have something close to what they have to offer. 

It was without a doubt an electrifying experience. Katana was energetic throughout and didn't miss a beat. I was shocked to find out they've only been together as a band for three months. It takes some bands years to build the kind of chemistry they have on stage. Can't wait to see what they do next.

Rickie Matt: Great and you?.thanks for having us.

HMH: Doing awesome, thank you for joining me..

William Akin: awesome thanks for having us.

HMH: #2 For Hathor Rising : For the people who have never heard or seen Hathor Rising, How do you describe your music? Tammy \m/

Katana Haley: I'll call it like it is... female fronted heavy metal.

William Akin: very passionate and heavy if u mash the energy of vocal energy of tina turner with the heavyiness of megedeth early metallica pantera u find us.

Rickie Matt: it's very edgy everyone in the band has something different to offer that's what's so fun about it. katana and Thomas bring all they got to the table they're lyrical geniuses. so edgy yeah!! mixing a little old a little new and bringing a new flavor to the rock scene!

Thomas Canto: Hell yeah! Definitely a blast from the past! Hah…

William Akin: old school meets new school

#3 For Hathor Rising : What's your biggest influence in music? Tammy \m/

Rickie Matt: I'm going to have to say Vinnie Paul right off the bat!!! To cover my influences I have to save Megadeth Metallica Pantera White Zombie..... Rage Against the Machine.

Katana Haley: Love james hetfield, james maynard keenan, phil anselmo.

William Akin: bass wise cliff burton, gezzer butler, frankie bello and rex brown.

Thomas Canto: Metallica, lamb of god, symphony x, Dream theater, Steve vai, van halen, pantera

HMH: #4 For Hathor Rising : Which one of you write the music,or do you all pitch in? Tammy \m/

Katana Haley: I write my lyrics, and Thomas writes as well. For me, lyrics and melody have to portray the message of the song clearly. My lyrics are coming from my soul for sure. Sometimes the light in me comes out, sometimes the dark.

Thomas Canto: I'd like for everyone to contribute and I encourage them all the time, but now Katana and myself are dishing out the tunes. William pitched in with some ideas not to long ago and I threw a track together with some of the riffs, Kat has been writing most of the lyrics, I've helped a bit. Now Rickie, he learns what I've laid down and tweaks it his way, so in essence he is contributing!

William Akin: katana and thomas are a powerhouse duo!!!

Rickie Matt: and you can see or feel it when she sings that shit!! one of the most original voices I've ever heard. Thomas and Kitana were meant to write music together. I follow him them anywhere! the two songs were working on at the current time we're done by William. just a bass riff that he sent to Thomas and it turned into music.

#5 For Hathor Rising : Tell me about the live experience. what can the fans expect? Tammy \m/

Katana Haley: You will be shocked and thrilled! No matter how you describe the show you will be surprised. Our live show is VERY in your face, you'll be a part of the show.

Rickie Matt: we're definitely it in your face band with a very animated lead singer.!!! she will force you to be involved with the show!!! under her spell if you will!! Lol . never really experienced anything quite like it. proud to be beating the skins behind her!! lead guitar what can I say he tears it up!!! ask a female??? All you going to hear about is his hair. lol.

Thomas Canto: Dude! Hush about the hair!

Thomas Canto:  Yes, IN YOUR FACE! We're all over the stage!

Rickie Matt: I couldn't hold a more upper level of respect that I do for or bass player William Akin. he ...like myself and many others are veterans of the United States armed forces. never had a bass player follow my drums quite like him..... what can Isay as a band we just mesh.

#6 For Hathor Rising : Tell us about your next shows and why we should be there? Tammy \m/

Katana Haley: We're rockin out April 11th at @ Tomcats West in Fort Worth! No one in Fort Worth is going to sleep that night!! It's gonna be one hell of a party!!

William Akin: we making it fun !!!! if i have to walk out in the crowd to get ur attention im going to it! power of having wireless hahahah

Thomas Canto: And the 26th at The Boiler Room in Deep Ellum in Dallas, everything is bigger and better in Texas! That should be a good reason to catch us!

#7 For Hathor Rising : What do you think about YouTube and other Internet Music Sites that share music,Etc? Tammy \m/

Thomas Canto: Wonderful way to share music especially with these gizmos being evermore important in our daily routine. Then again youtube enables unlimited (I think) exposure to whomever searches for you, opens the door for your band. Especially with good, quality material. although I'd prefer musicians to be paid in full when selling music via digital download, but that's a rather big plate for me to jump on.

Katana Haley: Plus it proves that there is an insatiable desire for music creating a big demand for what we do.

#8 For Hathor Rising : If fans wanted to purchase your music & merch, Can they and where? Tammy \m/

Katana Haley: Our shirts will be available tomorrow on our website!

William Akin: they will also be avalible at the shows, we will be releasing our first single "up in flames" for download and purchase april 24th at the boiler room for our official release
