Aesthetic Moodboards // “Who Laughs Last?” by Lord Huron
I've got to stop believing in a long-gone past. I sure like the feeling of an endless road. I know that life is fleeting and it all goes fast.

i think what makes lord huron resonate so deeply with me is it's all just some guy from the midwest writing songs about his ocs. that's so real. also, like, beautiful poeticisms about doomed love and the endless void of the universe or whatever.

No no you don't understand! I want to watch this show/movie, read this book, listen to this podcast, etc.! But I must be in the right mindset and the exact head space to begin, or I just can't!

This series has been on my mind for the past month, so I decided to start relistening to it again.

This is not my video, this is via reddit, so I'm uploading it on my sideblog but I had a feeling a lot of you might want to see this.
This is live Used to Know from the current tour, and in this version, Ben much more clearly sings his mumbled lyrics (which may now be different from the studio version).
Head for the place in the pines where we used to go
Say a prayer and wait for the snow

I rushed through the picturassqe valleys and hauntedass forests to beat the darkness, I knew I couldn't afford another pitstop like the one where I micterated upon a thuja tree in full view of a village league football gathering. So I clung to the wheel with my knees and juggled the manual transmission knob, a soft drink, a package of onion breaded peanuts and my dignity. I was the Jek Porkins of the road and on a brighter note, I didn't make it till dark.

“is there anybody out there” is perhaps the most frightening LH song, the most eerie — “What’s the worth of a lone soul? Don’t they count them by two?” is terrifying in a way the Emerald Star or the fantasy drugs or the fortune teller or not — the narrator isn’t losing himself in anything because there’s nothing to sell his soul to or to have his soul stolen by, just a doorway sized for two people, no more and no less, and one person looking at it. see also the buried giant by kazuo ishiguro for duos as cosmological key in a different way
