This kitchen pops up on pinterest from time to time and I can't help but fall more in love with it every time. I can't find where it originally came from, but I just had to post it as it's my latest kitchen obsession. I love the dark cabinets on the bottom and light on top, plus that oversize lantern gives it an old world charm. Love it all! Have a great weekend!
update: an awesome reader let me know that the kitchen is designed by Canadian designer Thomas Smythe and was featured in Canadian House & Home)

So do you all know Design Mom? Basically she is living out my fantasy of having moved to the French country side with her loving husband and six adorable children. I've been a fan of the blog for a long time and was even asked to do a very small contribution to "the last thing you made that made you gasp" (my answer here). Her family makes these adorable and beautiful little film episodes that I just had to share. They are already on season three so you will have fun going through the archives.

I'm kind of obsessed with these sweet little sisters and their adorably chic rooms. And to top it off they have the most adorable names, Poppy and Violette Grey . Iron beds, wallpaper, fireplaces, exposed beam ceilings..... really does it get any better?

So I am all about fun unique homes, but when it comes to the kitchen you just can't beat the classic white marble. I love the simplicity of these rooms.

A Poem for Newton
Twas 11 days before Christmas, around 9:38
When 20 beautiful children stormed through Heaven's gate.
Their smiles were contagious, their laughter filled the air,
They could hardly believe all the beauty they saw there.
They were filled with such joy, they didn't know what to say.
They remembered nothing of what had happened earlier that day.
"Where are we?" asked a little girl, as quiet as a mouse.
"This is Heaven" declared a small boy, "we're spending Christmas at God's house."
When what to their wondering eyes did appear,
But Jesus, their Savior, and the children gathered near.
He looked at them and smiled, and they smiled just the same,
Then He opened His arms and He called them by name.
And in that moment was joy, that only Heaven can bring,
Those children all flew into the arms of their King.
And as they lingered in the warmth of His embrace,
One small girl turned and looked at Jesus' face.
And as if He could read all the questions she had,
He gently whispered to her, "I'll take care of Mom and Dad."
Then He looked down on earth, the world far below,
He saw all of the hurt, the sorrow, the woe.
Then he closed His eyes and He outstretched His hand,
"Let My power and presence re-enter this land!"
"May this country be delivered from the hands of fools,"
"I am taking back my nation. I am taking back my schools!"
Then He and the children stood up without a sound,
"Come now my children, let me show you around."
Excitement filled the space, some skipped and some ran,
All displaying enthusiasm that only a small child can.
And I heard Him proclaim as He walked out of sight,
"In the midst of this darkness, I AM STILL THE LIGHT."

A little costume inspiration for one of three Halloween events this weekend. Tonight we pay tribute to Mexico, tomorrow we'll have an Ode to Wes Anderson and Sunday night we'll be surfing in the dark at the URT Spook. I'm ready for this fun filled weekend to begin!

The best pools are ones surrounded by grass. I grew up with a pool like this in our backyard and I always wonder why more people don't have them. The parents never have to yell "NO RUNNING!"

The past few Halloween we have pulled out some very last minute Halloween costumes the night of. Too old for the old college Halloween elaborate matching costumes with friend and not quite to the stage of having kids of our own to dress up with. I love that Say Yes To Hoboken has come up with fun DIY last minute costume inspiration for adults. We definitely have all the pieces for the bank robber one!
