I really like your AU, the concept is fun and the artwork is adorable.

If you don’t mind me asking though, in your UaUtW AU is there an equivalent to Torbek getting captured, imprisoned and experimented on for 5 years?

If so who is it and how do the others react when they return with a large machine full of Witchlight strapped to their back?

Uhhhhh,,, No 😭 Imma be so fr, kinda forgot about all that ermmm,,, I haven't thought too much about anything post-carnival, since I wanna get all that figured out before anything with the Fae Wild!

Now that I'm thinking about it as well, I can't think of how I'd work that in anyway 😔 ....unless I involve nester's ass now that I think about it oh my god lmfao??? even if i dont do that, i gotta weasel nester in the plot somehow dont let me forget,,, IDKIDK as of rn, no, but I will include the Witchlight in some way.

Hey, found your UaUtW AU and I love it so much!

Two thoughts:

1. I'm not sure if there's going to be an equivalent to Kremy and Gideon's "ironic" wedding, but if there is, it should be between Booker and Grumley.

2. Have you given any thought about the Vagabonds getting hit with Fae Curses? 'Cuz if Bitsy's apperceive in the Yuletide one-shot is any indication... dear lord, the chaos these forest gremlins would unleash... XD

1) Yes! I was brainstorming a lot of this AU with a friend, and it will defo be happening. And, without saying much, it will be those two :3c

2) Oh ofc ofc, that's part of the charm of OUaW! Most of em will have Fae Pacts to enter the Carnival in the first place as well. The chaos that will ensue with this group dealing with the Fae Curses is too perfect of an idea to pass up >:3

OKAY! Hello hi sorry for being MIA, had a lot of stuff happen this April (to keep it short, was on leave from work for back issues, got covid, and got diagnosed with carpal tunnel all within 3 weeks LOL). Unfortunately kept me from drawing much 😔 BUT I've had major UAUTW (and general loa) Brainrot, sooo :3

I have some ideas for eventual doodles and a shitpost, BUT I'd love to hear anything that y'all would like to see in particular for Up and Under the Witchlight!!! Feel free to reply to this post or submit an ask :3

Hopefully I can try to be a bit more active n such, I feel bad leavin y'all hangin, esp when I wanna create for this AU sooo badly, ESPECIALLY with the return of Witchlight ahh!!! UpROOTed: Dimwits of The Dimwood! (ROOT)

Bitsy, Peggy, Jean-Claude, Hazel, Grumley, and Booker. Ya, don't let the cute-looking characters fool you though; they are a group of absolute menaces' in every hilarious way.

I found a D&D channel called Legends of Avantris last year and I have had such a great time listening to some of their campaigns. UpROOTed/ROOT obviously being one of them. They have a verity of different campaigns and I highly recommend checking them out. Even if (like me) have never played D&D in your life.

I don't have any new art, been too eepy, so I thought I'd share my personal designs for the Vagabonds in the mean time (excluding Jean Claude cause I hadn't met him yet when I drew this </3)

Mostly went with their S2 designs aside from Hazel and Peggy! I love Hazel's S1 design too much, :3c With Peggy, I wanted to try and combine her S1 and S2 designs, but ehhhhhhhhh don't really like how that looks anymore, so I'll probably change that lol

In your AU I noticed Hazel has bandages over both arms and a scar over her eye, how bad is that scar is it just a scratch over her eye or is her eye missing and more importantly what happened?

(All your designs are just amazing but Hazels is my favourite, no I’m not biased at all)

RAHH TYSM! Her and Bitsy have my fav designs (I'm also not biased nuh uh not at all)

The bandages are more so to protect her hands/feet when fighting! She has to get physical a lot, and wants to protect herself from severe injuries, especially with her joints/bones. Also protects from chafing, as well as helping with gripping. It's not really preferred to have a weapon go flyin when tryin to fight.

In terms of her eye, she still has the eye but can barely see out of it, so she more often than not keeps it closed. Not something that she particularly likes attention brought to it. She got that scar in particular from one of the Vagabonds first major fights against a monster, in which they had managed to defeat, but not without a couple of major injuries. Due to still being new to adventuring n such, they were only able to prevent her from fully losing her eye.

You mentioned in a previous post that in your Up and Under the Witchlight AU that Hazel and Bitsy are smooching, are their any other ships cannon in your AU?

If you don’t mind me asking, How is the team dynamic in general in your AU?

Hehe yeah :3 I'm a HUGE fan of Hazel/Bitsy (my shipname for em is Bumblemon), so I had to make em canon for the AU at all costs hehe >:3 They ofc aren't together quickly, and aren't exactly "official" for a while.

Aside from them, Booker/Grumley is canon as well! I adore them in Uprooted in general as well, and thought their dynamic would be fun to play around with in the Witchlight setting. Everyone in the group knows that there's SOMETHIN going on between em. Bitsy and Jean Claude both ask if they're a couple shortly after meeting them LOL

I think Peggy and Jean Claude would be funny as well, but I'll decide that later,,, So as of now, just Hazel/Bitsy and Booker/Grumley!

HOWEVER! I will say, there is a LOT of sexual tension between the whole party let's be honest here :skull:

NOW! In terms of the team dynamic! They're not *too* much different from themselves in Uprooted, but there are some differences that I will be expanding upon as I work on the AU some more (so don't take everything I say as of right now as a "100% canon/confirmed aside from the ships), but here's some basics!

Characterization wise, they are the same aside from the few differences that will change due to their Classes, since those will effect the most in terms of their dynamics due to slightly-changed backstories.

They're more organized / structured in terms of the way they go about things. Not to say that some sort of bullshit never happens, of course, but they've been through some tough shit together.

Booker is still the leader of the group ofc, although he has a bit more of a grasp on them in comparison to Uprooted. He "knows" (aka believes) that if he doesn't keep the party under control, shit will happen and he would rather not have to clean up after everyone.

With Peggy actually having magic, everyone's excitement over her work is lessened, so she overcompensates a lot to make them impressed, cause the gods know how much she loves to have everyone consider her great and powerful. She does this by treating her spells as her own new and/or improved creations. Bitsy is really the only one truly impressed, so Peggy is HELLA ego boosted when they meet her.

As mentioned above, Bitsy/Hazel and Booker/Grumley will be canon, so their dynamics will go a lil differently due to the romantic attraction / sub-plotlines regarding them, including how it'll effect the group.

Jean Claude's dynamic with them will most likely change the most? Mostly because he won't be serving as a lawyer too much despite still technically being one. He doesn't have to break them out of prison or anything, they more so stumble upon his firm (like the OUaW crew finds Twig) and he joins them at first to *keep* them out of trouble. So he serves as more of a "stop doing crazy illegal shit" kinda guy at first.

Booker and Jean Claude do butt heads at first. I imagine that Jean Claude would almost start to take on a leader-type role, not necessarily on purpose, but because he knows the Feywild the most, and everyone turns to him for a lot of stuff, which makes Booker feel a bit replaced. It's a little conflict that they have before Booker opens up to Jean Claude about it, something that VERY much so wasn't easy for him at first. I'm honestly quite excited to work on them hehe

Overall, nothing drastic! Of course, their dynamics will also be effected by the story itself, due to the new journey they'll be taking as apposed to everything they deal with in Uprooted!

Are the witchlight party not in this au and are replaced by the Dimwoods party or do they both coexists and interact in this AU?

Carnival Lecroux are not a part of this AU, and are instead replaced by the Vagabonds! This is basically a reimagining of Witchlight but with the Uprooted crew instead p much :3

I loved imagining the Uprooted crew as if they were actually their mechanical classes (like Bitsy being a Way of Mercy Monk instead of just an herbalist), both design and story wise, so I thought this would be a fun way to mess around with that idea!
