A Tarot Guided Journey into the Fire
As the wheel of the year turns, we find ourselves at the threshold of Beltane, a time of bonfire celebrations, fertility, and the awakening of the earth. Beltane, often celebrated on May 1st, marks the halfway point between the spring equinox and the summer solstice. It’s a time when nature is in full bloom, and the energy of growth and vitality is palpable in the air.
For tarot readers and other practitioners of divination, Beltane offers a powerful opportunity to connect with the energies of the season and harness its magic for personal growth and spiritual insight. Just as the ancient Celts honored this time with rituals and festivities, we too can engage in practices that deepen our connection to the natural world and the unseen energies that surround us.
Visit www.healinglight.blog to see our most recent blog post and learn a few ways you can incorporate tarot into your Beltane celebrations. Beltane2024

Preparing Your Mind for Transformation
I live in the path of the upcoming eclipse, and the event is all over the news and media. The weather forecasters include tidbits about how much cloud cover may be possible and schools have ordered eclipse glasses so the students can safely watch the event. Travel plans were made quite a while ago for many who can’t see it from where they live. There has been a good deal of preparation done to be ready to see the eclipse, for sure. After all, the last solar eclipse that was visible in the US was 2017, and after this we won’t have another one that is visible in the US for about two decades.
After writing yesterday’s blog, I started to think about what should be done to prepare for the energy shift that the eclipse is going to bring. If you didn’t read that post, take a few minutes and scan through “Exploring the Upcoming Solar Eclipse & Tarot“. it will give you a sense of the forces at play and the spiritual relevance of this eclipse. In research, I had been struck when I read that an eclipse can be a fast-track means for a spiritual course correction. Having slept on that thought, I realize that for some of us, the upcoming eclipse will be a jolt to the psyche, particularly if they fear change. That’s why I created an affirmation reel that focused on losing the fear and embracing change.

Harnessing Retrograde Energy in Your Tarot Practice
Mercury Retrograde, a period when the planet Mercury appears to move backward in its orbit, is often associated with communication mishaps, technological glitches, and delays. However, in the realm of tarot, this astrological phenomenon can offer a unique opportunity for introspection, reflection, and growth. In this blog post, we’ll explore how to harness the energy of Mercury Retrograde in tarot readings, turning challenges into opportunities for deeper insight and understanding.
Embrace Slow and Reflective Readings:
During Mercury Retrograde, communication may become muddled, and plans may encounter unexpected obstacles. Embrace the slowdown by approaching tarot readings with patience and introspection.
Take your time to shuffle the cards mindfully, allowing your intuition to guide you. Consider each card’s message carefully, and encourage your clients to reflect deeply on the insights revealed.
Focus on Revisiting the Past:
Mercury Retrograde is notorious for bringing unresolved issues to the surface. Use tarot to delve into the past, uncovering patterns, and gaining clarity on lingering challenges.
Incorporate spreads specifically designed for revisiting the past, such as the “What Lessons Can I Learn from the Past?” spread or the “Releasing Old Patterns” spread. These layouts can help clients gain insights into recurring themes and break free from stagnant energy.
Practice Mindfulness and Clarity:
With communication often skewed during Mercury Retrograde, clarity becomes paramount. Encourage clients to approach tarot readings with a clear mind and focused intent.
Before beginning a reading, take a moment to ground yourself and center your energy. Invite your clients to do the same, setting the intention to receive clear and insightful guidance from the cards.
Explore Themes of Reevaluation and Adjustment:
Mercury Retrograde invites us to reevaluate our plans, goals, and relationships. Use tarot to explore areas in need of adjustment and realignment.
Consider using spreads that focus on reassessment and adaptation, such as the “What Areas of My Life Need Reevaluation?” spread or the “Navigating Relationship Challenges” spread. These layouts can provide valuable insights into areas requiring attention and refinement.
Embrace the Gifts of Introspection and Self-Discovery:
Despite its challenges, Mercury Retrograde offers a potent opportunity for introspection and self-discovery. Encourage clients to embrace this period as a time for inner exploration and growth.
Use tarot as a tool for self-reflection, guiding clients toward deeper understanding and acceptance of themselves and their circumstances. Encourage journaling and meditation to further integrate the insights gained from the readings.
Mercury Retrograde may bring its fair share of challenges, but within those challenges lies the potential for profound growth and transformation. By harnessing the energy of Mercury Retrograde in tarot readings, we can navigate this astrological phenomenon with clarity, insight, and grace. Through slow, reflective readings, a focus on revisiting the past, mindfulness, and exploration of themes of reevaluation and adjustment, we can harness the potent energy of Mercury Retrograde for introspection, self-discovery, and empowerment in our tarot practice.

Mercury Retrograde typically unfolds in several stages, each marked by specific astrological events. Here are the stages of Mercury Retrograde along with corresponding dates for the current retrograde period:
Pre-Shadow Phase:
This phase begins when Mercury enters the region of the zodiac it will later retrograde through. During this time, you may start to notice the themes or issues that will become more pronounced during the retrograde period.
For the current retrograde period recently started (April 1, 2024), the pre-shadow phase began a couple of weeks prior to today, on March 18, 2024.
Station Retrograde:
This marks the official start of Mercury Retrograde. It occurs when Mercury appears to slow down in its orbit and prepare to move backward.
For the current retrograde period, the station retrograde date just occurred on April 1, 2024.
Retrograde Motion:
During this phase, Mercury appears to move backward through the zodiac, creating the potential for communication issues, delays, and misunderstandings.
The retrograde motion continues for several weeks until Mercury reaches its station direct.
Station Direct:
This marks the end of the retrograde period. Mercury appears to pause in its backward motion and prepare to resume its normal forward trajectory.
For the current retrograde period, the station direct date will occur in a few weeks, on April 25, 2024.
Post-Shadow Phase:
After Mercury stations direct, it enters the post-shadow phase, during which it retraces its steps through the zodiac, covering the same ground it traveled during the retrograde motion.
Issues that arose during the retrograde period may still need to be addressed or resolved during this phase.
For the current retrograde period, the post-shadow phase will likely extend for a couple of weeks after Mercury stations direct, on May 13, 2024.
It’s important to note that these dates are approximate, in part depending on your time zone, and can vary slightly depending on the specific astrological calculations used. However, they provide a general framework for understanding the stages of #MercuryRetrograde and how they correspond to the current retrograde period.

“Mirror work is the most intimate relationship we will ever have.” Louise Hay
In the realm of self-improvement and personal growth, one practice stands out for its simplicity yet profound impact: mirror work. It’s not about vanity or mere reflection; it’s about facing ourselves with love and kindness, and affirming our worthiness. Mirror work involves looking into your own eyes in the mirror and speaking positive affirmations aloud. Sounds easy, right? Stand in front of the mirror for your first go at this and you will be surprised at how difficult this simple practice is. Yet, its effects can be transformative, nurturing a deep sense of self-acceptance and empowerment.
