I’m not a professional at recording but I tried! I like to sketch out my basic shadow & highlight areas, then stitch and adjust from there. When filling in satin stitches, I work with a single strand. It gives a more satin like smooth finish. I work the stitches long & short blending as I go. I hope you folks enjoyed this little tutorial! What videos would you like to see in the future? These are my favorite pieces I made in 2018. I really through myself into embroidery this year. I’ve improved so much! It’s been really rewarding to see how my style develops and changes. I can’t wait to see what happens in 2019. #handembroidery #top9of2018 (at Durango, Colorado) https://www.instagram.com/p/BsBWJbpHUio/?utm_source=ig_tumblr_share&igshid=dqrq2aa9pdtb

I’m pretty stoked on how Arcanine turned out. Not sure if it’s the bold orange or what but he pops. 😍 (at Durango, Colorado) https://www.instagram.com/p/Brv37RRnGRY/?utm_source=ig_tumblr_share&igshid=1d2tlcjwucr6n

I’ve had this sketch sitting around forever. Decided to finally do something with it. I think I need glasses for my glasses to make these tiny stitches. (at Durango, Colorado) https://www.instagram.com/p/BrIhM31H7l9/?utm_source=ig_tumblr_share&igshid=t6bmibipqggp

Custom design for someone who just bought a house. Feeling a little iffy but trying to branch out with my text work. https://www.instagram.com/p/BrDORvcH4La/?utm_source=ig_tumblr_share&igshid=2ujpnoy9y5u6

Finished up my December Patch swap with @victoriasembroidery She asked for a dolphin. Fun Fact: I’m scared of dolphins. But! I tried something new for the edging of the patch. When you start a project & after a few hours of stitching scales you wonder what you were thinking. This price took me about 8 hours to complete. Not including sketching out the design time. Really happy with how it turned out though! (at Durango, Colorado) https://www.instagram.com/p/BqpwFAfHrcU/?utm_source=ig_tumblr_share&igshid=1cypg01ifuf4d

I sent off these three prices to NYC. Super stoked on seeing my progression with embroidery. Working on getting my detail and techniques into this black work style. (at Durango, Colorado) https://www.instagram.com/p/BqjAy0GHylK/?utm_source=ig_tumblr_share&igshid=kp59o1nbz5yl

I get a lot of questions about how I back my hoops. These are a few of my finished backs. I like to cover them because it looks more complete to me. It’s really a personal preference! I do think it helps keep the fabric tight in the frame. I use a stamp to add a simple tag on the back. I’d love to get a custom one made if anyone has recommendations on small business stamp makers? Please tag them! :) (at Durango, Colorado) https://www.instagram.com/p/BqfQILqHpnY/?utm_source=ig_tumblr_share&igshid=jnug8gu6mue

“I have seen this before. You’re on fire, believing that you’re onto some truth, that you can save the world.” 👽 I finally finished up this X-Files design. I started it a few weeks ago before working on my Beneath the Veil pieces. (at Durango, Colorado) https://www.instagram.com/p/Bqcryifn4oR/?utm_source=ig_tumblr_share&igshid=1xdpukac9hc7s

My final piece for Beneath the Veil. I used satin floss for the pendulum chain. I wish I could capture how pretty it is in light. (at Durango, Colorado) https://www.instagram.com/p/BqagdiCHM5-/?utm_source=ig_tumblr_share&igshid=pyjmhwdpbc9w

I’ve been trying to figure out what works best for doing stipple shading with embroidery. I’d like to incorporate it more. I love the definition and texture it provides. Sorry about the hoop mark. I need to iron it out before I finish up this hoop. 🙈 (at Durango, Colorado) https://www.instagram.com/p/BqKhyDDH9pl/?utm_source=ig_tumblr_share&igshid=o8z1uql7ww0l

I’m working away at my pieces for Beneath the Veil. Busy lil bee! I used to use water soluble pens when transferring my patterns but the past few months I favor Micron 0.35mm pens. I like the precise lines it produces. Although it doesn’t leave room for error. I’d like to try carbon paper next so I can work on dark fabrics. What is your favorite thing to use? I’ve been thinking about cosmic coincidences a lot lately. I’ve been so focused on embroidery lately I think it disconnects me from looking at things outside of it sometimes. I want to build my business. I want to improve my technique and style. I’ve never put so much work into art. I WANT THIS. I’m a really anxious person and for me coincidences are usually concerning for me. After talking to a good friend she told me to look at all of these moments and see how they relate to my life, what are they showing me? I drew the two of cups after seeing it on my IG feed, cosmic coincidence? Most people think of this card in context to relationships with others but it’s also about your relationship with yourself. Do you fundamentally believe you deserve to feel good about yourself? When you come from this place of self-love, self-acceptance, and self-respect, you will have more fulfilling relationship with other parts of your life. #tarotcards #twoofcups #wildunknowntarot #selfacceptance (at Durango, Colorado) https://www.instagram.com/p/BqAOghGn2dK/?utm_source=ig_tumblr_share&igshid=10douqx4s83tv
