I must confess I'm falling down the Descendants rabbit hole once again and why is there only like 1.2k Ben x Mal fanfics? That is a downright crime, i need more stories of Hater Girl and Lover Beast Boy

Also I saw a video that pointed out the fact that in If Only the in background vocals you can hear Ben singing and let me tell you I almost started giggling like a kid watching it for the first time cause that was so cute and you can barely hear him it's so faint it's almost not there but I loved it

Also in my heart Carlos is alive and proposed to Jane and they have their happily ever after

looking at this list of questions makes me feel like you have a carefully considered answer to each one, so I'm definitely gonna be boring in comparison but imma do my best. Also full disclosure, I just watched all the zombies movies for the first time a month ago, so my knowledge and takeaways are still sort of in their "first impression" phase

1. Characters: Descendants favs are Mal and Uma. They're just so forceful and loud and passionate and flawed, all the best things a female character can be imo. Even though I found the conclusion to their rivalry to be unsatisfying, I think Disney was definitely onto something in the beginning.

Zombies is Zed, his sister, and that fcking football coach lmao. Zed's model minority/assimilationist storyline in movie 2 was especially compelling, and definitely not something I thought disney would have the guts to throw in. As for the coach, I fell in love with him the moment he said "technically the forbidden forest is within the school district" which is the hardest I laughed the whole franchise. I love Willa too, but more for the dancing than the character, so perhaps it doesn't count haha

2. Songs: D -> Did I Mention, What's My Name, My Once Upon A Time, If Only, Ways to be Wicked (I have a series of posts on my blog where I rank all of them ;))

Z -> Ain't No Doubt About It (and its reprise), Exceptional Zed (and its reprise lol), Flesh & Bone, Possible, Dream Come True

3. Ships: Okay he's where I get really boring--I'm a fan of the classics. I've got a pretty long Mal/Ben fic series out there, and I think Zed and Addison are solid too. As for non-canon stuff, I feel like Mal and Uma are exes for sure; chemistry off the charts. Eliza/Wyatt kinda threw me because I thought we were cooking towards Eliza/Willa but oh well. I thought the aliens were pretty mid so I was like meh on A-Spen/Willa as well :/ willa can do better fs

4. Wicked World/Re-Animated: I have nottttt I know this is a criminal take for a Disney fan, but I prefer live action. Even when I was a kid, Phineas and Ferb didn't hit as much as Suite Life or Wizards. I've heard I'm not missing much from Wicked World tho so I'm not too worried

5. Bad Characters: *whispering, as I try my hardest to not be a hater* Audrey. Like OOF the amount of times I've typed a response to something and deleted it repeating "it doesn't matter. it doesn't matter. get a grip" to myself is altogether too many for a kids show haha

Hmmm no one annoys me too much from zombies, though I do wish Addison was a bit . . . better? I certainly don't dislike her, but I wish she had a little more edge and imperfection to her. "My hair is weird" wasn't enough when clearly any perceived ostracization was short-lived and disney couldn't even commit to "freakish" and made her platinum blonde. The aliens were all kinda meh. And then Bucky . . . I certainly don't hate him; it's hard to when the actor did such a good job. But when he gets compared to Sharpay from HSM I'm like ????? Sharpay was a high school bully territorial over a drama club, Bucky is spearheading institutional racism and threatened the (metaphorical) black kid for talking to his white cousin. this is not the same character lol

6. Skipped Songs: For Descendants, I skip Good to be Bad every time. Yeesh. Sofia Carson-heavy songs like Space Between and One Kiss also aren't my jam. For Zombies, nothing on the first album impresses me. I know Someday was apparently The Shit when the movies first came out, but I just don't get it. Dream Come True is absolutely beautiful and I like it much more. One For All from Z2 feels like an All For One rip off from the end of HSM2. The two are so similar in vibes (not melody) that I can't tell if it's on purpose or not, but either way, One For All suffers in the comparison imo. Whatever that duet in the middle of Z2 was rough too--like the store brand version of "Wouldn't Change A Thing" from Camp Rock 2.

Overall, I think Zombies has too much talk-singing to make up for the fact that Milo can't sing. I feel like they autotuned Mitchell Hope to death in Descendants because he can't sing and that kinda flopped and so they tried "ya boy young Z" with Zombies, but I don't think it went much better. They dubbed/blended Zac Efron through HSM songs until they got him singing lessons. I think they should bring that back because look at him now, he was great in Greatest Showman.

7. Fav Monsters: Werewolves. Their attitudes? Horrendous. Their methods? Convoluted. Their vibes? Immaculate.

8. Fav Zombies Fits: Whatever the blonde girlie pop from the fourth one was wearing was great. Like they all look both amazing and comfortable like they're on their way to group palates. 10/10

9. Fav AK Color Scheme: Not many AKs stand out tbh. Maybe Audrey? Girl was a mess but she looked great. The blue/pink felt very Auradon Chic. I actually liked a lot of Mal's AK fits in D2, especially the dress she's in at the very beginning.

10. Fav VK Color Scheme: Uma. You could say blue had already been done by Ben and Evie at that point and you'd be right but Uma did it best. xoxo.

11. Plots Points I Liked and Those I Did Not: Yoooo this almost deserves its own post but I'll keep it short and sweet and maybe elaborate later. Descendants -> Love Ben knowing about the spell all along, hate the barrier coming down at the end. Zombies -> Love Zed's "do it like the zombies do" character fall and recovery, hate Addison's "but where do I *really* belong?" schtick. And so so so many more tbh for both love and hate, esp for descendants now that I've written quite a long fic where I got to decide what to keep and what to throw out.

Oof twas a lot and hopefully you didn't fall asleep in the middle. Either way, ty for the ask and for making me think more seriously about zombies and putting up with my shitty gifs :D

i will never understand people who get mad because the disney zombies franchise keeps adding more and more shit. that's one of the best things about it you morons. i need there to be 47 more installments in this series and i need zeddison to meet a new monster type in every single one and i need all the new characters in each movie to keep returning so the cast becomes impractically large and i need all of the films to have a Someday Reprise and i need to see brand new footage of Shrimpy at least once every few years. don't you understand. what's not fucking clicking
