people saying that sabrina is "holding women back" by 'willfully submitting to a man,' or participating in a consensual kink, is what is actually setting women back. yes she is calling back to 50s anti-feminist propaganda, but in doing so she is taking something that was made to hurt women and making it her own, turning it into something that she's choosing, and reclaiming it. by saying she's misogynistic for this you are not only imposing a 'rule' for how to be a 'good feminist,' you are actively trying to take autonomy away from a woman who is expressing her sexuality through art. you are doing exactly what men have done for centuries; you're forcing women into a niche, telling them they have to be one of the 'good ones' instead of allowing independence. you are calling her names for not following your idea of what womanhood and femininity 'should be.' it is not her fault that you have such a narrow view of feminism. it is not her fault that purity culture and far-right conservatism has gotten its hooks in you.
